You asked how much music Ren made while he was sick. In one of his interviews he said one of his hard drives has, not exaggerating, over 1,000 songs in various stages of completion. When he said he was 26 and "brought his microphone into his coffin and started dropping raw thoughts with the grim reaper knocking on the track" he's referring to when he recorded his first album Freckled Angels. The entire time he recorded it he thought he was going to die at any moment and his only goal was to give his friends and family something to remember him by.
Ren's still in Calgary. Boston Pizza is a big restaurant chain here. The creator was a Greek immigrant who, when choosing a name, thought Boston sounded exotic. Ren has suggested he may end up in the states where he can grow musically but remain close (ish) to the Calgary clinic. Personally, I want him to stay in Canada. I promise we'd take good care of him.

He says that his brain fog kept him from writing much for years. That’s why he had to part with Sony in the 2nd year.
The only reason he started up again was to both leave something if (when) he died & to raise money to come to America. The doctor donated the $25k transplant but Ren had to pay for travel & living expenses. He got the tracks from Sony he’d started & added a few new ones to make the Freckled Angels album. 💜
Ren has created an autobiography about his struggles with his illnesses, it has 8 Chapters on his “renmakesstuff” channel. I really suggest y’all check it out on your own time. It’s a roller coaster ride! This song, “Troubles” sums up his story to bring awareness. Thank you for your support.

I have a dear friend who also has two of the conditions that ren has. I see her hooked up to her feeding tube and bags of fluids but it doesn't stop her! She'll carry around her IV pole and still keep moving and doing and creating! She is one of the most strongest and positive driven people I've ever known! When I have bad days I think of her and her never giving up! She also loves ren's music and can completely relate and I know his music gives her hope as well as countless others I'm sure!! Once again! Mad respect to him and to my friend❤️🙏

You need to listen to his demos 2 on Ren's playlists and also his freckled angels. He wrote all them while he was really poorly. I recommend from the demos 2 playlist 'ready for you', 'heretic' and everybody drops.

After having listened to Ren's Chapter Series Intently and multiple times, this track just encapsulates his story so well and serves as musical accompaniment for The Chapters. Ren's experiences are very familiar to me to say the least, as is often the case with many of his supporters. Ren's success is so deserved and I do truly hope it continues. Ren is the medicine many of us need. So raw and vibrant in color, combined with his naturally emotive performance! Indeed Ren....Your Limo has finally arrived. This in my mind one of the best lyrical raps ever written and performed....

Ren put this track out for M.E. awareness month and leading up to the release he dropped a series of monolgues telling his story up to now. Just him reading it to the camera. Each of the 8 chapters is capped off with a song to illustrate and underline it. You gotta check that out.

There's a short somewhere, that Ren shows how he turned the chorus into the "keyboard/synth" sounds for the song.
Much of the background is literally the original song, altered the Ren way.

1) *Super* impactful reaction guys. Right up there with my other favourite reactions to this track, maybe for some different reasons than the others. From Hollywood NAILING the sample ID within a SECOND AND A HALF of the start of the track and singing along the whole way through, to both of you bopping along with such feeling and appreciating the lyrics so much, to both of you abruptly going *still* for the "I brought my microphone into my coffin/Started dropping raw lyrics with the Grim Reaper knocking on the track" lyric, to then talking openly (apparently for the first time on your channel) about your personal experiences with Long Covid (and other troubles unrelated to Covid of course), just...
2) I'm so sorry to hear you both had to get through Long Covid - what you're both describing is a pretty intense experience, even though Hollywood didn't take as long as Smokey to get back to something approaching "normal." It's scary that you still describe that you're maybe just coming out of it now, Smokey. I hope you get over it ALL, with no lingering effects. Not everyone recovers (I mean, so far - the first people to get Long Covid are only barely 4 years into it, and here's hoping that those canaries in the mineshaft all recover fully, and soon).
Ren timed the release of this track to coincide with ME Awareness Week to help get the message out there (ME was his misdiagnosis for 5 or however many years and he was involved in the ME community via health blogging and then via being included in a bit of the documentary "Unrest" - the clip of his "scene" is online, search Ren Gill Patience to find it; he was asked to write a song for the documentary and the clip is him talking, and then doing the song, which is, predictably, gut-wrenching and beautiful).
The slogan of ME Awareness Week is #MillionsMissing and Ren changed his social media profile to the Missing graphic for this. Reactors catch the lyric "Poster hunt, manhunt, Ren went missing" and correctly interpret it to mean "he was so sick he lost touch with who he was" but importantly, it's also how people with ME & these other conditions, including severe Long Covid, describe how the disease traps them in bed, cut off from the outside world, too often abandoned and forgotten by friends and family members because it's inconvenient to alter your life to include a person who's so sick that they can't participate in *your* life. So people with ME etc go missing from *life* and that's how Ren felt for however many years too.
3) I'm going to say this since you were talking in some detail about your experiences, and because Long Covid is something Ren sometimes includes when he lists off ME/Fibro/Lyme etc.
Not everyone recovers from Long Covid, and Covid is not over. Community spread is NOT seasonal (sure it gets worse in the winter, but when the wave is "over" the baseline presence is still horrifically high for something that can disrupt - and even destroy - lives).
And recovering from Long Covid doesn't mean you can't come down with Long Covid again the next time you're infected.
And some people are getting Covid more than once a year, because we're allowing the variant soup to brew, meaning there are dozens of variants out there any given day of the year that are slightly different one from the next, and to your immune system, however many of them don't "look" like what you've recovered from most recently, so you have little ability to avoid infection when you encounter them.
It's absolutely wonderful that with vaccination/boosting, we see less severe *acute* Covid illness and less death resulting from the acute Covid illness, but more people develop Long Covid symptoms every day (including from mild cases and even from asymptomatic cases), because every Covid infection you get you roll the dice on whether the virus will cause enough damage to some part of your system to impact your health, and some things it damages aren't fully recoverable.
(endothelial cells are a big one - they're the cells that line every blood vessel and artery and organ in your body, are especially prone to damage from SARS-CoV-2 and sure, they regenerate, but they never come back to full function, and every endothelial cell hampered by damage is a cell that's not able to provide as much oxygen and nutrients and hormones etc from your blood into the tissue on the other side of the blood vessel wall; every endothelial cell hampered by damage is a cell that's not able to regulate the stuff the surrounding tissue is supposed to send out into your blood to either be used by the body or to be excreted. Your endothelium is always in the process of aging/deteriorating, but SARS-CoV-2 can accelerate that process and if it happens to damage too many cells in the blood vessels of part of your body that reacts severely to the lessening of endothelial function, you might not recover from whatever effect it's causing. And endothelial cells aren't the only cells SARS-CoV-2 has access to via the ACE2 receptors in your body).
Severe Long Covid cases are part of the people who've disappeared from the outside world (though I don't want to seem like I'm trying to make Ren's song about Long Covid. The text he's put into the video is clear that he's being inclusive of all of these debilitating chronic illnesses that have few treatments and no solid cures, but none of this is my lane and I don't want to put Long Covid people who aren't specifically suffering from ME into the actual Missing awareness campaign).
Anyway.
People should understand what SARS-CoV-2 is, but no one wants to talk about Covid because "it's over."
It isn't.
We're just sacrificing people for the chance to "return to normal."

Just an FYI, Ren dropped pretty much his whole story about his illness over the years, he wrote it all out in 8 chapters, and read it out loud, then uploaded a chapter a day for 8 days leading up to dropping this track. You don't have to react to it or anything, it would be quite time consuming, plus it's a deep story, tragic and beautiful at the same time, there's really not a lot to add to it, commentary wise, but you guys should really check it out on your own if you have time, it'll give you a whole new appreciation for Ren. This song broke me. I rarely allow people to see me in pain though I am every minute of the day. I have fibromyalgia with touch sensitivity there are times I have to ask my child not to hug me because it hurts so bad. The medical corporations seem to prefer ti medicate for profit than properly research these illness
The prople at the point of medicine delivrry often gaslight people about there conditions not being real
This can lead to bring sick helpless and ostracised by family friends etc
Ren know how this all goes and is trying to raise peoples attention to this situation

guys good content. you should watch his chapters that lead up to the release of troubles. its not something that needs reacting too, it feels to personal for that.
Yea, the chapters are great. He tells his story from the end of his friend Joe over becoming ill, getting and losing the contract with Sony, via his odyssey through various diagnosis and attempts of treatments to becoming at least better after his stem cell treatment. Very personal and emotional videos. He also tells how he harmed himself by cutting his chest with a shard.
Even if you thought you understood Ren's songs beforehand, you understand them even better afterwards and they become even more intense.
If Ren didn't want them being reacted to then he wouldn't have put them out. He did it for more exposure to these conditions and to tell his story. He wants it spread far and wide, which is what reactions help to do.
