The man who created this song explained why he said the song was 'impossible' - not because the notes were unreachable (the singer at the time hit all of the notes!) but rather because of the very fast parts. He was speaking of a human inability to switch between notes as fast as editing the notes closer together could, with the same precision and sharpness. And so the studio editing in question was simply this: The singer sang the notes more slowly. She hit all of the notes with no assistance. He edited the notes closer together to create fast note progressions. The artificial part of the song wasn't in helping her hit notes but in putting the notes closer together than humans can switch between notes. Since this song was created, there are a number of singers who have practiced singing those notes with a similar speed, and many of them have gotten so close that they sound artificial to some ears. That includes this woman, as well as a Chinese singer named Jane Zhang and an Indic man named Dimash Kudaibergen. You can tell that it's their actual voices because each of them lose control over the notes when they try to switch between the notes so fast. This creates noticeable imperfections-- a wobble here or there, a slight off-pitch note as they transition from one note to another, but most importantly, the speed is never exact. All of them, at some point in their runs, are chasing the background music, falling a little behind because of the difficulty of trying to sing notes at that exacting pace. This woman actually altered the song so that she wouldn't have to make such a large transition from one note to another, thereby allowing her to reach notes more quickly. That's the method that most of these singers use, which is why few of them perform the song exactly the way it's done in the movie.
she did NOT hit all the notes.. it sounded NOTHING like the movie... please stop trying to defend her... she tried h3er best and made it sound close but no cigar. stop cheating.
The parts after 4:45 are altered from the original to be "possible" to sing. Thats where the realy fast switching between head and chest voice is in the movie version, and it is not replicated here, not even close.
I remember in the movie the refered to this performance as not being possible for a human to perform. Clearly, a few vocalists took that as a challenge and went all 'Hold my beer".
I remember this too, and I also remember that when they gave the piece to the singer, she surprised them with just how much of it she was able to perform unaided. I think what we're seeing here is a little bit of backstage trickery with electronics, a little bit of modifying the piece slightly, and a lot of skill on the singer's part.

You can hear that some of the really tricky bits have been cut out to make performing this even possible, but still a supremely impressive singer. The original singer in the movie, Inva Mula, did not actually sing the whole thing either. Segmented recording and some editing was necessary to create the whole piece. But apparently the composer was astonished by her ability to do much more/better than a human should be able to, on a composition written explicitly to outrun the capabilities of humans (so as to emphasize the Diva’s otherworldly capabilities).
@@minachae9464 when you look at her face and listen to the voice very carefully then you will see. When someone does a half or full playback, you can easily recognise the slight, subtle disharmony between the face muscles and the rest of the body movements and the pre recorded and played voice. Another indication could be when the performer is physically moving and dancing a lot (not here though!) even a slight movement in the body can cause subtle voice changes. I have 12 years of singing and musical background, the more subtle the harder to be recognised for people... that's why half or full playback works on stage in the first place.

Невероятное исполнение! Браво!!!!!!!!
Beautifully done. Thoroughly ENJOYED.
My God did I just hear her sing that?! I did not think the human voice could have such a range!
I have finally found someone that got it SPOT ON!!! She's absolutely amazing!!! I'm definitely shook🤯
Had the same reaction. This is the first one spot on.
She is AMAZING SINGER!!!
I love this movie and this performance. And yes, multipass.
“The stones, are in me...” literally one of my favorite movies for so many reasons, this scene being one
So many people: "it's so good it has to be fake!" That's just not the case. People can do amazing things, enjoy it...
💯
Yes thank you!!! Pure truth
This one really sounds edited. But I heard other girls that really sing this without editing. So I can't be sure.
Listen closely shortly after 5:05
Breathtaking, gave me goose bumps, voice of an angel 😊
You have such a beautiful voice Tolkyn Zabirova!! I was singing along and it made my heart soar and sing even more!!! :) I love your voice, have a beautiful day and stay healthy! :D *hugs*
5:09 - 5:13 is near to perfection woah😍
*4:12** - **5:36*
*Her vocals are "mesmerizingly" eargasmic!!* 🎙
🎶👂🏻🎶
that section 4:59- 5:13 is autotuned. She comes out of it (they turn it off) and your can hear it. The original goes down to tonic . Her version comes out on an off centered note.
@@humusiclab8974 Yeah, sorry i'm 99% sure 5:11 is not her voice LOL
@@FunksIncKeys sounds like her voice going through pitch correction and then it shuts off for the last note. Def fake, as are most production attempts to sing this. There are some vocalists who can sing it, but that section was played on a keyboard for the film. It’s almost a necessary effect to get that “processed sound” when doing it live.
Nailed it, the best plava laguna impersination i have seen so far.
OMG,SHE COULD CHANGE THE NOTES THAT FAST! !! 💘👏👏👏👏👏
Mariela Inostroza she does not sing live.
@@gaspargregorian2499 yea she does. How do you know that she doesn't
she can`t, it`s obviously fake.

This song is absolutely remarkable and anyone who can do it is amazing 🔥🔥🔥
Continuingly astonishing how American movie artist work back powered by an unique level of mighty talents. The greatest worldwide. And.. her voice is a century voice.

Agree.... certainly the best version of this to date.... amazing voice.
なんと切なく悲しい音。聴く者の心を揺さぶる楽器のような声。本当に素晴らしい。
Amazing!!! 👏 Simply amazing!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
What's wrong with you?! What you screaming for?! Every five minutes there's somethin', it's a bomb or somethin'! I'm leavin'! Bzzzzt!

super green
Ruby Rodd. Explore that imagery, from the concept of analogies for arrogant, single minded, male roosters.
But! I have always loved this song. I would love to see a Counter-Tenor tackle it, now that would be a mind bender. As for this video, I love the Blade Runner/Matrix Meets Equilibrium costume treatment for the men.Nice one!
🤔 he did have a point
Corbin...Corbin my man...I I I can not do not this......tttthis doesn't feel right...Corbin..
@Ann Marie what are u even talking about?
Fantastic even with some of the electronics at the end. Superb singer.
5:08 - OMG, she did that part absolutely PERFECTLY!!! HOLY SHIT what talent!!
It's fake. That was autotuned.
Such control over that beautiful voice!. She actually does hit those notes!!!
You guys the fith element is one of the most beautiful movies you could ever watch along with Lucs other film the tail of a 1000 cities...
The man is a master
Невыразимо прекрасно! Спасибо!
Wow! The Fifth Element is my favorite movie and I can't believe I've never seen this. BRAVO BRAVO!
I love her voice!
Not a single comment warned me about the men in black jumping out of those triangles when the beat dropped 😂😂 almost threw my phone and I oop
They came from the Matrix.
Spoiler alert? 😂
Unicornbaby23 yeah the dance part kind of ruined the video
Haha that's how you know it was about to get reeeeal!!
LMAOOO
Божественно! Спасибо!
Still love this Movie. And this opera was one of the highlights of the film. As @Aodan said, "imposible" because of the speed of the notes. But, as time has shown over and over again. Never say impossible for a human... Time has a way of making the impossible, possible. She was awesome!
I love the voice. Great work!!! Thanks.
