Thank you, I appreciate this! I was nervous to put this video out because I knew it wouldn't be the *perfect* build or technique, but I'd rather it be relatable over anything else.
@@carpenterkatiecoOh my gosh, I can't believe you almost didn't post this video!! We sooo need this. Sometimes we have to learn to make do with what we have and get creative. Explaining how and why things didn't go as planned and showing us alternatives or fixing them helps us learn through your project and for us to have courage and not be intimidated when our projects don't go as planned. Thanks so much for sharing!!! ❤
Great job! Wood storage is such a challenge for many of us 😁. Great video, very professionally done. What do you use for editing? I make woodworking videos also and am looking to other editing options
Thank you so much! I use Adobe Premier Pro which I’m still learning as I go. I recommend the Adobe Premiere Pro CC Masterclass on Udemy by Phil Ebiner if you’re looking to learn.
@@carpenterkatieco I looked at it and it looked complicated, but I did find power director and it is similar but more friendly for the non-pro editors lol. Thanks again and keep up the great videos 😁
Have you considered moving one or both of the Bora racks inwards to the second set of uprights on the cart, rather than keeping them on the extreme ends? That way they’d hold shorter pieces more easily, and the longer ones would just overhang and reach the ends of the cart as they do now.
@@carpenterkatieco I'm not sure what your dimensions are. What's the space between the posts - are they at the end then evenly spaced across (~32" between), or something else? Though I hate to suggest reworking the whole thing, but if you put a pair of supports about 2' from each end, your 8 footers would be roughly evenly supported - 2' overhang at each end, and 4' total between supports. I'd almost be more concerned with sagging with the 8' gap between the supports. Another option might be storing the boards on edge rather than flat - less likely to droop that way.
You had me when you said your cheap on buying wood, it does make me laugh when so many youtubers splash the cash on a couple of sheets of maple plywood to make shop items, liked and subscribed
I spent so much time worrying about/trying to plan this build but eventually I just got started and everything kind of fell into place. Thanks for watching!
I love watching expedient builds with scraps and cutoffs. A storage rack is on my to-do list for the spring. You have the skills and the scrap wood to fabri-cobble a couple of scrap wood bora-like racks for the middle to hold shorter boards.
You can often use bolts in wood. You didn't show it but as an example if the bolts that came with the wheels are 5/16, just drill a 1/4 inch hole and drive them right into the wood.
Mounting the bora racks on the wall would have denied you the sheet storage space you made on the rack, and not let you roll it out to clean under/behind or rearrange your shop space
Respect for using material on hand and creating based on that. Economy but also creativity so you win even before the benefits of the storage. Well done.
Thank you! It feels good to use what you have and be resourceful. Plus it helped free up even more space by using the extra materials I had laying around.
Finally someone who is honest and real about what should really matter. Appreciate it. Liked and subscribed
That's so nice, thank you!
Love seeing a small shop that doesn't have 10 grand invested in it. Much more in line with my resources.

So true. I love it. And what CAN I do with what I have?

A piece of insulation will help you with cutting your sheet goods without putting wood underneath.
That’s a great tip! Thanks!

That's a good idea. I usually have more 8' boards than shorter pieces so my fear is that they would warp more easily without the end support.

Great improvising and pushing through.
Thank you! The wood stand is still working really well 😊

Couldn't agree more! I was happy to use what I had and I'm very pleased with it's function. It even looks better than I thought it would lol
Creative use of the Bora racks
Thank you! At first I had some buyer's remorse with them but I love how they worked with the overall build.
Good stuff! Love the honesty, I build most everything on the fly. Tweak it as you go.
I spent so much time worrying about/trying to plan this build but eventually I just got started and everything kind of fell into place. Thanks for watching!
The thing came out pretty cool. I have a small workshop too. Which storage is always good for small shops.!
Thank you! It's functioning really well and even makes my small space feel *slightly* bigger 😆
Great job, Katie. I like the wheels for mobility. I'm sure that will be a handy feature.
Thank you so much! I'm glad I added the wheels to have the convenience to move it if needed.
If use one more Bora set, you could make room for shorter scrap stock.
This! I have a similar setup and am going to add another set up bora racks.
Great idea! That will be an easy add on. I'll wait for them to go on sale again lol
The cart turned out great. Being mobile might come in handy down the road.
I'm happy with it! It feels so good to finally be organized (in this part of the shop at least lol)

That's a good point! I might have to add some additional supports. Good luck with your build!
don't consider resourceful to be cheap. Was great to watch you build this new rack for your "luggage" Cheers
You're absolutely right about being resourceful, thank you for reminding me of this.

Wow! I had no idea. I'll definitely try that in the future. Thanks for the tip!
Or drill all the way through and put tee nuts on the top. If need be, countersink with a Forstner bit if you want them flush.
Thanks for showing your faults
Thanks for watching 🙂
Nice organization
Thank you 👍 The wood is happy to have a better home!

So true. I didn't really have a nice empty space for the wall mount either. Rolling it out to clean will be amazing!
