Laccaria ochropurpurea's caps are hearty, reminiscent of shiitake caps... Pro tip: smear a mix of beef base, shredded cheddar and finely chopped onion into the gillside. Roast in the oven! Let cool and slice into strips to be placed inside quesadillas with your favorite filler cheeses and sauces

Hi Anna, last year I found the most numerous ever, laccaria purporea (sp) under only white pines in southeastern TN. So much so I still have some dehydrated.

Hi Anna, Since I am way up the mountain, I am not competing with you for the mushrooms. Just wanted to be clear that I am not in the same group as the little black beetles that get all inside the mushrooms... ok? : )
a real treat to see and hear you after a long day. Right on, George.

I ate laccaria ochropurpurea in the past 2 years and enjoyed them. But I didn't find any this year sadly. Hopefully the season isn't over yet here in south PA.

These little videos might convert me from a hiker to a mushroom hunter. 😅
