It actually happened to me back in 2015 in Puerto Viejo, me and my friends almost drowned in the sea there, luckily a few locals helped us to reach the shore again, it was horrible. Be careful you all.

I am a permanent resident of Costa Rica, living in Guanacaste. The fencing and bars on your property, remind me of a military base. I have neither on my property. In 14 years, I have never had any criminal issues!
Great words of advice. another might be to be careful of the sun and be sure to use sunscreen. By the way, Wanda, I took your advice on travel insurance. Got a great price on insurance for my son and me. we will be there in October for 10 days.

what do you think about sleeping in a car/tent? My friend told me I should not deffiniely do that because of rape situation, is it really that dangerous?
My sister is selling the house I live in to move there! I don’t want to go! I have an 11yr old from New England! And a chow chow dog, also three parrots that are super attached to us that I would have to get rid of because you’re not allowed to bring parrots. Chow chows are cold weather dogs! She’s being stupid, because Trump won the election
