She is physically using a different part of her throat to make those vocals compared to here. Notice the breathy and flat intonation? That’s what a Falsetto sounds like.
This is the first track of a concept album, so the build-up in the beginning makes sense when you consider the entire story. "Apex" is just a monster record - every track is fantastic.

You really need to check out more power metal Rhapsody of Fire, (Magic of the wizards dream, with Christopher Lee, Wisdom of the king, Village of Dwarfs etc) Symphony X and all such Power metal is some of the best metal there is.. (That, and viking/folk metal )
Honestly if you liked this song, the OGs of this style are Iron Maiden. My best friend (the biggest UtA fan you could ever meet) and I have been refering to these guys as "female fronted Iron Maiden" since we discovered them. lol
The album tells a story about some immortal guy. This is the first song of the album, so the delay at the start of this video is there to set the mood and ease you into a long story. It also represents the immortal waking up.
Not just some immortal guy. He is basically a living Mountain having lived centuries just to be awakened by a mere human who wants to bind him to his will.
Apex is honestly probably one of my favorite albums all time. Haven't stopped listening to it since I got it last year. I will say it is a bit odd Awakening isn't the first song they released from the album, since the album is an ongoing story from song to song, so starting with another one is like skipping a few chapters.
I think Cleanse was a perfect song to release first as it sort of summarizes the whole album in one song. It's the matriarch explaining to the Immortal what she needs done.
The whole album is one of my favorites. The only ones that didn't make my favorites list were Shadow Guide, Matriarch, and Cleanse the Bloodlines. But my favorites are Awakening, The Coward's Way, False Walls, Earth and Ashes, and Call Me Immortal. I usually shed at least one tear by the end of the album just bc the story is so good and I really feel for the Immortal at the end of the last song bc even though he wants to rest he knows the cycle of his curse will eventually repeat.
This is by far my favourite song that Archers does. I only found then last year, and was so impressed. The vocals are amazing and the talent of the whole band is off the charts! Glad I found your channel tonight and I will be stopping by more often, obviously you has a good ear for tunes. :)

This song is ridiculous. That bass lick at the end of the solos is freaking sweet. And it's nice to just watch UTA's musical skill and techniques in the video.
I really liked Time Stands Still, but I feel Apex was leaps and bounds better. UTA really found themselves with that one. TSS definitely had some faster songs, but I felt like writing was overall better on Apex.
I think the band gets better the more they move the gutteral stuff into the background and push the focus on Brittney's voice. Apex has no songs with gutteral focus, where TSS still had a lot of it.

I think Cleanse the Bloodlines is kind of an underwhelming track if you are expecting the super intense, fast paced, stuff like in Tonight We Ride. But I think in the context of the album it’s a little better. It’s a concept album so the story for it is pretty well represented by the songs. But I definitely would recommend checking out Time Stands Still and Apex. Both awesome records but each one is good for different reasons.
One major difference in the sound from Demons to Time Stands Still and Apex is that they went from being independant to signing with Napalm and having much better studio equipment

A really good band that does get very little attention is Versailles, maybe could check them out? Songs like Remember forever, God palace or Faith and decision.
I love "False Walls", it's my favourite, but over on the power metal Reddit when this album was hot "False Walls" seemed to be the dud track for a lot of people. Shame.
I am still a Dragonforce fan and I do not give a flying fuck what people say about them. I love them and they are super crowd friendly band, after their concert at a local bar they came down and drank and talked with the audience for a couple hours and were all super chill.

Try the General of Darkness music video. Video is cheesy but it is a classic Unleash the Archers track that has screams, falseto, and dueling guitars.
