I made most of these mistakes. I did have my book professionally edited and illustrated. I thought KDP would help market it …. Wrong. It is a cute Novella for tweens ….Dying on the vine😢😢
Amazon is in the business of making money - they'll only "promote" your book if it's already selling, unfortunately. That's why the title, description, categories/keywords are so important, as well as general book marketing knowledge.
@@kai.to.k1d I was unable to have my book placed in physical bookstores. The best that I could do was making the book available to order in-store. Most of my sales have come through Amazon. Next time, my plan is to make the e-book free for download, and also publish a paid paperback. Getting your name out there at all seems like a good first step. Free downloads help with that. However, if people actually review your book (which is a challenge to find), then they seem to prefer physical books, not downloads. On a side-note, I recommend Grammarly (the paid version). It doesn't catch everything, and it won't replace an editor. But it helps find obvious things. Wish you the best in your writing.
The issue with #2 is that self-made writers who have made it, do NOT want to share with you what they have done. They will tell you in short, cryptic ways or leave things out and not give you the details. They say, "market!" but dont help you know how or what they did that made the numbers go up. its a dark place and those who win don't want to help others win.
Thank you for the tips! I just have a question tho, is the distribution ok? So far I am leaning towards self publishing but that’s the only thing that’s worrying me. my aims: get it in a paperback or hardcover copy, reach many readers and be translated into at least 5 languages. what would you recommend to do?
Hello Bella, Great video. I have a question on cover design. When designing a new cover, is there anything about copyright and reuse that I need to think about. Like, what happens to the file that the designer uses: will he/she keep to him/herself? I know this is an outlandish question. But I am new to this. Thanks.
I’m not Bella but I think that it’s better to try to make it as original as you can. A person can file copyright (I think) so just be careful. hope this helped
Hi Georgia! Editing prices vary widely depending on person as well as editing type. For a general editing pricing guideline, you'll spend about $.01 to $.02 per word, meaning between $800 - $1600 for an 80,000 word manuscript. Hope this helps! Always research, compare pricing, and always get a sample edit prior to committing!

Yes, self publishing is the way to go!! I love being in control of my books and seeing where they go, who they bless!
@Frank B. yeah, that's true. But for what im writing for, self publishing is the way to go for me. :)
SPS is so resourceful & guides the author in the process. Mastermind Community serves one another like Family! Outcome= SUCCESS ✨
Thanks so much. Listening to the speakers has answered some of unasked questions and given me much more focus. God bless you friends.
I have been a member since 2017. Where have I've been??? OMG

These are good tips. My first self-published novel (It Could Happen Here) comes out in paperback October 6. I've learned a lot about the process.
That's amazing! Congratulations :)
just saw your book on amazon, hope the best for you greg.
Any tips for an aspiring author? I really want to self publish but I’m scared that the distribution won’t be as good

Greg, how much have you earned so far?

Thank you for all explanations!
Is it my imagination or is she changing colors?
I have no interest in Beta Readers. I know this is something that many people recommend, but it's not for me.
First, WAY too bright on the lighting. Second, slow the fuck down lady. Third, you don't get to keep all of the profits because amazon takes 30% cut.
You must feel so fulfilled for this very kind comment
