Check check the big connector the round one for dirty ir false contact AND clean It up... When plug It in make dure does click to the right... Also the ground over the Coil on the back wall AND every ground than you can find arround...
I dont know, it looks like the wiring harness has some issues, with all the blown/melted fuses. I would try to find a wiring diagram and look for shorts.
Hey 2 Flush, 20amp (ylo) is the fuel pump (18 on diagram) which you got right. The one you took out that is cooking is to the "Emergency Flashers" (17 on Diagram) which is a 10amp (red) which is correct. Maybe a dodgy short somewhere. See if your flashers are working okay. Fuel pump relay is the corner one (r12) so you're good with that. Check the empty spaces against this diagram www.autogenius.info/volkswagen-golf-mk3-fuse-box-diagram/ Just to update, those fuses and amp ratings look different to the diagram, has someone been playing mix and match as you ahve a 30amp there where there should only be a 10amp.

Crank sensor sends signal to the computer to fire everything else, along with fuel pump relay, spark and gas
I changed the crank sensor on mine and fired right up
My car suddenly stopped while idle and then won’t start . I’m being told it’s the fuel pump but my needle gauge moves when I turn the key

Did you ck the ignition coil ,before remove the fuel pump ,pressure at the line , before remove the pump ?
