I wanted LASIK surgery when I was younger but then I started to realize ALL my eye doctors wore glasses and it made me question why no one got the surgery

My eye doctor (god rest her soul) did not wear any. I think it is great but obviously you have to check if you're fit for the surgery first

I actually asked this when I was on my surgery rotation and it's because the surgery increases your sensitivity to glare and so you're rendered basically blind in bright ORs and exam rooms.

My father got that eye surgery in 2005, and didn't have to wear glasses for around 5 years, but then his eyes started becoming more and more dry, to the point it was unbearable. I was too young to remember but some medical shenanigans ensued and thankfully he only needs to wear glasses now.
Medicine is a sham. They try to fix symptoms instead of the root cause of most problems. Kinda like cough syrup. It masks the sickness but nobody actually cures the disease

The “humans have no free will” theory is one that I really hate because it’s so unnecessarily pessimistic. Even if it were true, we couldn’t do anything about it and thus knowing that it is the case would only serve as a depressing and hopeless outlook. Also, humans have freedom of thought, and freedom of reflection, so imo thats what makes the the “no free will” theory false. If something happens, a person can choose how to internalize it whether what happened was in their control or not, and that is free will in and of itself!!!
You aren't understanding the idea. First off, it is called determinism and is a very old philosophical idea. Basically, it says that you will always do the same thing if it were possible to repeat a decision. (Which you can't because time would be different). That how a person perceives a situation, what a person sees as options, and finally that option is limited to a single course of action is all conditioned by past events. These past events determine the outcome of a decision made today. Because of this, freewill is an illusion. You are only acting your reaction., though it may seem like freewill. Another way of looking at it, it to say, if there was freewill then there is no reason a person does something. People would just walk around doing random things. But, people have reasons for what they do. And what they do are conditioned by the past. This is generally accepted with physical objects, such as if you throw a ball off a building, it will fall straight down. Or if you put water in the freezer, it will become ice. It doesn't become something else, it doesn't turn to steam or stay water because the circumstances are conditioned in such a way that there can only be a single outcome. As humans, we like to think our egos are above this. But, behavioralsim psychology as proved otherwise. In the video he says everything is preplanned by an agency and this may be true for some religions, but is different from what determinism is.

17:55 - I live in the uk. My mother recently heard about this from her friends (I heard about it ages ago), but her friends told her it was a thing happening in local schools. My mum argued with me for a good hour about it and how she was right because she “heard it from a friend who’s son heard it from his friend” or something along those lines. She wouldn’t believe that it wasn’t true until eventually trying to prove me wrong by secretly looking it up online. But she never mentioned it again to me, obviously because every article she seen said it was fake.

Oof. I can relate to the fricking LASIK.. I’m legally blind and have had 19 eye surgeries. It’s painful, and I have had my lens removed because I not only had a cataract, but my lens was ruptured. I am so so sorry for anyone who’s elected to try and make their vision better and that it failed them. I now have more vision out of my eye with residual vision. But I understand just how depressing it can be.
The doctor I was in the care of as an infant just wanted me to be a Ginny pig for a surgery she had learnt in Australia. This was 1987. I was 1. They threatened my mother with custody if they didn’t do the surgery, and I am totally blind in my right eye, and the aqueous humor (spelling?) that should be in my right eye is not there. So it’s legit like a deflated balloon. There were a lot of premature babies in the 80’s who’s parents were literally forced into this surgery and have little to no vision because of it.
Even scarier fact, until 1988-ish, they believed premises couldn’t feel pain, so I got to endure over 12 surgeries on my eyes the first 3 months of my life WITHOUT ANY ANESTHETIC. I was born at 26 weeks and am very lucky to be alive today since I was a pound and 8 ounces and so tiny you could legit hold me in one hand. My head was the size of a grade A large egg and them bastards still did that crap. So yeah, I feel a lot fo empathy for those who just tried to improve their eyesight. Sorry for the rant.

Trusting a doctor is like trusting a shady business man in a suit with your money, and a promise to return the money after he is done with work. The truth is, while he may return with some money to make it seem like you haven't been duped, he'd have taken away 70% of what was in the suitcase with counterfeit and have sent you on your way. Do it enough times, and you'll realize that most of your money is gone and replaced with counterfeit bills. I figured this out when my mother had kept sending me to a doctor for ADHD medication, but my condition had never improved and they had suggested increasing the dosage against the disrection that it would work at all if it wasn't even working at an already higher dosage that I was taking of Quillivant XR. They were basically trying to take more money out of my family, and dangerously using me while reassuring them that it would certainly have an effect "at some point."
Needless to say I've never ever gone back to a doctor for medication of any of my ailments unless it was just a flu shot, and even now I just rarely care enough to keep going because I have a job to deal with. The hospital here is also notorious for maltreatment of patients and abuse of ER victims among other cases like hiring nurses who can't even speak or understand basic english language, which is insane to me because I would have expected that to be a basic requirement for working in medical in every country.

Okay props on getting some actual original stuff in there, and not all reheated iceberg babble (although it's always cool to hear someone's take on the classics!).
That said, the Lazik one was really interesting to me. When I had my surgery back 20 years ago now, the surgeon had to go through the list of all possible side effects with me, and there were a lot (at least in Canada they did that). They also made it crystal clear that this did not "cure" my condition, merely corrected it, so as I got older I could - and probably would - have bad eyesight again. 20 years later I can confirm I'm soon going to need glasses! But anyway 12 hours and I was 100% healed with 20/20+ vision! I would say it was the best money I've ever spent and would do it again... Same for my spouse who had the surgery about 5 years after me. I believe that the main thing here is advising the patient of the risks: all medical procedures have risks, ALL. Where it gets really shady is when it becomes too much of a business.
But here's where it gets crazy. My ex (not the one I mentioned above, a previous one) had it as well a few years after me. Well it didn't go well for her. At all... she lost so much vision that she was legally blind for a bit. It did come back somewhat after more corrective surgery but she had to keep wearing glasses and from what I understood, still has some pretty significant eye issues to this day. The difference with me and the current GF? We went to an extremely well known and reputable eye surgeon. My ex went to a... uh... well let's call it a discount surgeon. Not a bad one necessarily, just a clinic that placed low prices over patient care. Now I'm not sure what happened to her or why she had issues, but the link is hard to overlook. Have to say too, I didn't have "Lazik" per se, but another procedure which at the time cost more and yielded better results according to most doctors I spoke to; I didn't have a lot of money - I was just out of university - but again, was not going to risk mucking about with my eyes so I borrowed some money.
TLDR: don't fsck around when it comes to your eye cause you WILL find out!
my uncle got lasix when he was in his early 20s and he’s currently in his mid 40s & just now started to have sight problems. but he had lasix to correct nearsightedness and he’s developing farsightedness. he also said his dr told him that he would still experience age-related vision loss

The Katy Perry thing was just her eyelash glue being applied wrong, it got stuck to her lower lashes. It’s happened to me when I first started wearing lashes. It can be extremely annoying and a little painful even. Maybe she shouldn’t use that makeup artist again.

the thing about lasik is that there's a whole bunch of potential side effects one reason i stopped looking into it is dry eyes being a big thing & is not recommended to ppl who already have dry eyes to begin with (like me) i feel like you really have to do your research and consult more than one professional as it's a big deal concerning your eye health

If it makes you feel better, the conspiracy about the Aztec sacrifice is false. They did sacrifice that many people or more , going back to Teotihuacan & Olmec cultures. My friend got lasik twice by va doctors. Both times he was blinded. I wasn't there the first time. The second time his seeing deteriorated until he was blind, only able to see some colors and shadows in the sunlight. He had a stroke, i called 911. He lived but was paralyzed on his left side and blind. He fied so soon there after. I'd never get lasik or want my loved ones to.

I thought lasic eye surgery was completely safe. I've been told this like my whole life, I thought it was 100% fine. I haven't heard anything about this
I got lasik back in 2010, no regrets I had astigmatism in both eyes and have been blessed with 20/20 vision ever since. Not going to lie though I do have to use artificial tears 2-3 times a day. They never told me about how much that costs over a life time. Not in pain though. It just hurts my wallet, I was under the impression that it was temporary.

Yeah the whole section about lasik was BS. My father is an eye surgeon and they specifically tell you the risks and you have to sign a waver saying if you go blind it’s your own fault. Also 96% of ppl who get it never have problems. It’s no more risky than any other operation. That whole part of the video was kinda lame tbh.

I heard that coke did swap from corn syrup to regular sugar as a sweetener in the 90s. Those are two pretty different ingredients. My understanding is mexican coke "tastes better" because it still uses corn syrup.
Close, but it is the other way around. Corn syrup is cheaper and is used in most soft drinks now, but they used to use sugar. They apparently still use sugar in Mexico, but I have seen people claim that isn't true. Some people claim to be able to tell the difference between corn syrup soft drinks and sugar soft drinks, so that could definitely be a contributing factor this this new Coke formula conspiracy.
