She is a new artist so she doesn't have an unlimited budget for videos. In fact, the guy who co-wrote the song is the one who took the video. That said, I like the video and I think it makes sense. She's a girl kind of aimlessly walking around while she thinks about how "if she were a boy" she would be kind to women. People often take long walks when they are upset about something so they can think and burn off steam. Also, the simple video focuses on her voice which it should because it is stellar.

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on RUclips. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on RUclips went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a RUclips video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on RUclips. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On RUclips, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. If you go back to Angelina’s first video, a Million Miles, she was just walking, funny Valentine she was in a old antique shop, Angelina’s cover of autumn leafs when she was very young. Was like her in the park with family, her cover of Elvis, Suspicious Mines again with her niece, love don’t let me go, she was driving with her grandma.. this is know different.. I actually like it because it allows you to focus more on her and what she’s singing about as opposed to all the other artists with repetitive videos.. her videos are different and come across much more real to me., the other more striped back version of this/ video diary was just her in a church, barefooted.. if you’ve been following AJ for a long time and look into her archives, she’s has become famous for just singing in random places with just her, No glitter or glam.. I think most ppl are use to seeing the same repetitive images in music videos, they almost don’t understand the simplicity and beauty in seeing something different or something else outside of what the mainstream is doing..

Both covers of this are glorious but I prefer the stripped down version Piano Diaries. That version lets her voice absolutely shine. Thanks to Toby for asking her to sing this cover of his song for his Piano Diaries album. Toby is quoted saying, “Working with Angelina has been nothing short of inspiring. Her ability to channel profound emotion through her voice adds a whole new depth to the song.” They are also working on other songs for AJ. This will be huge for her.

I don't do a lot of mv's but I am just so used to seeing her live and produced dressed like a duchess or a model---In my opinion we need some class brought back or added to this industry and I hope she never loses that. From her unique style,to her fashion, and most of all her good heart. She calls her fans her angels and says she loves them and I think the difference with her is that she means it. Also, you gotta check out "Bad Valentine". She is reinventing the game. Thanks for supporting her.

Nothing can diminish the beauty of Angelina's voice or her overwhelming talent, but this music video really is kind of basic, probably meant to appeal to a younger audience. The version she did with the church setting for Toby Gad's Piano Diaries album showcases the elegance and class that define her, as does the quality of the instrumentation. Don't miss it!
The more I look at this team the more excited I get. I like many had no idea who Toby Gad is. I learned about him after her first performance with him. Another Powerhouse Writer Producer who has worked with only the best of the Industry past and present. Diane Warren another legend visited with Angelina but little came of it. This is very different than that. Angelina and Toby have declared they are working on original material together that they hinted would be available this fall. We are all of course hoping is the long-awaited Album. Some predictions in the past have failed to materialize as predicted. Let's hope this is not the same.
And I've been thinking about the timing which would be brilliant. Many have mentioned a release in September would be late to qualify for this year’s Grammys.
What if that is the plan. We already have two Grammy worthy releases with 'If I Were a Boy' and 'Bad Valentine out right now which will be eligible this year. Produced and performed by two powerhouse singer/songwriters/producers in Angelina and Toby. All of the songs on the album would be eligible for the following year's Grammys. At least in this scenario. If one or both songs win a Grammy think about the runway that would have for a Full year and from the very same powerhouse duo. Having already won they will both be well known by then having already won the Grammy(s). All of those new songs from the new album will be eligible for those Grammys. They will be knocking on the door of the industry. Banging actually! I don't think she can be ignored anymore! Great reaction to a Beautiful song.
One further thought. Hopefully the album is going to be more of the same or similar production. That being the case this is going to be the signature sound, style and voice that will be used to introduce Angelina to the World. This will be her sound, her style. Its her voice that attracks most. The video if you have seen others with her is not like others. Very classy. She is not into videos that have LOT OF THINGS GOING ON IN THE BACKGROUND.

To me videos with too much happening can be distracting. For an artist that doesn’t have a ton of talent then maybe that’s what’s needed but someone like Angelina, her voice should be the focus. A simple video is all that’s really needed.
I know the younger generation that grew up on videos expect to see a lot of visuals but the performance of the song should be the main thing to sell the song. If an artist needs a fancy video to get more people to like a song than maybe there wasn’t a lot of substance there in the first place.
Back in the day before videos you had no choice but to focus on the details of the singer and the music. A lot of that gets lost today.
There are a lot of fun videos but for me the music is the most important thing. Ive felt that the biggest benefit of a video is that you can see your favorite artist but i don’t think anything more than that is always necessary.
Think, when the artist hasn't much content the video must have.

I agree the video is basic but sometimes that's all a song needs. Its creators shot it together and think it serves its purpose enough to have uploaded it as the "official music video". Who am I to disagree as someone who longs for the old days when a song's or a singer's success didn't rely on visuals? It's sad that no song seems to gain any attention without an associated video just as it's sad that a mediocre song with a great video will get more attention than the other way around. I don't know why Angelina has covered this song and I fear this video may be a millstone where a rocket boost is required. I hear Angelina and Toby Gad have collaborated on a new song and I have to say that after one listen, it doesn't grab me. But I don't like this song either, so maybe it's the songwriting that doesn't appeal because it certainly isn't Angelina's voice.
