RIP Mr Brecker
I can't remember which famous sax player said that the album cut of this song from "Don't Try This At Home" was the best tenor solo he'd ever heard. First time I heard him was when he and brother Randy created the rock fusion band, Dreams, with Billy Cobham, Zappa's former drummer. I became an instant fan and followed his career after that. Gone too soon.
And not only the tenor, the EWI parts, the rhythms by Dejohnette, Hadden, Grolnick and Stern, the idea of adding the fiddle of O'Connor to the blend... never has been better fusion of celtic airs with jazz and blues tradition and a bit of synths, building, passion, it has all!
Here you can feel perfectly the awe and joy of all the quintedect band
Today is the anniversary of his passing. I had to listen to this.
Blessed to have seen him a few times here in the UK.
Sensacional 👏👏👏
oh dear god
Bloody hell.
