Quick amendment to some stuff in the video! Treasure hunt is +6 healing, not +5 - accidentally carried forward a dice error. Yelan's combo is SKILL / NA / NA, (not NA skill NA). Also I forgot to mention the second NA should be on the next round. Thanks to MrPillow in GITCG server pointing these errors out! I guess I made this too fast haha.
The breaking news bit was hilarious, also I think instead of doing sudden no announcement changes they should adopt a mid patch balance change model to fix things that are particularly bad without it being a whole patch until it’s fixed but not so sudden that it throws tournament things out of wack not to mention it gives them the second half of the patch to see if the changes did anything meaningful *cougn cough* gilded *cough cough*
Seconding this. Kinda weird that balance changes are tied to the regular release schedule, which is probably too sparse, but having a hotfix coming out of nowhere was also not good. Mid-patch balance changes feels sane enough. Though, the way they currently handle things cause the cards to be changed mid-match for matches happening in the middle of the hotfix, so I think they will have to sort that out first.
This should be a new thing the broadcast bit was so funny, although I doubt any changes like this will shock the community as much it'd be a fun thing to do otherwise
I'm honestly very glad that we won't have to wait for 2 months to have these cards nerfed, they were obviously op and I really didn't want another jeht with yelan otk They should really playtest more tho, these flagrant issues should not make it to the live version
Honestly yeah, it seems like they do not put tcg on beta test for beta tester (might be because not easy to find beta testers willing to play tcg) so it’s much harder for them to balance things
I was actually thinking the same thing. Burst aside, Yelan is still pretty nice since she's able to draw cards on demand. They didnt touch her talent card either, so extra dice if you run that. Also... "Where did my Yelan decks go??" Hilarious.
Haha Lia was in charge of the news segment so they were the ones to think of that idea! And yes I agree Yelan is still a great character choice for some decks, though I think it's too much of a hit competitively (reminding me of Itto)
As someone who managed to try it out first day and spend 2 long days refining my deck for it, I can say life was not the same anymore... Made me happy to play TCG again in a long while (since Gambler and Yoimiya nerf). IT WAS FUN AGAIN!!! that one minor dice change really changes everything. Would've preferred if it was 2 black dice cost instead of white if theyre going to nerf...
@@ClaustroPasta Yes definitely a fun card! I can see it going to 2 unaligned and not being too broken. Hopefully we see it as a later adjustment when they think it's safe
im surprised they nerfed these but didn't add an upper limit to crab, I imagine in the future they will cap it around 100. I imagine they implemented the hotfix because of too much early sinergy between the two cards but i honestly have only really seen crab decs this meta
An upper limit isn't too relevant for PvP since realistically you shouldn't be letting opponents stack that high, but a cap would remove the neat screenshots we get to see heh
It's funny how very much broken magic and hypermagic being nerfed via regular updates (and both taking more that one patch to fix) all the while these 2 sudden fixes are out of nowhere, one for a new card no less, with little to no use data. My only guess is that these changes are meant to be in the version but somehow were missed.
No I think the data came from the CN tournament scene which tends to break things much faster than we do. It's very likely they assumed the Yayoi/Seed change would be enough to tone down Yelan but it turns out it's just raw character power backed by also good cards
@@blepthecat Oh yeah .... that is... why originally wrote Spantamad (Lisa is Spantamad), but then when I was fact-checking it, I realised that Spantamad should have red gem on their hats :D Blue gems are worn by Rtawahist students :D Thus Lisa's gem on hat does not represent her Darshan :D (Or it is oversight :D )

These changes are mostly aimed at competitive play mostly, and there Crab is doing ok but not great. It's definitely very hard for newer players to deal with. The less efficient your decks are, the harder time they have with crab usually
its OP. Compare her with Yoimiya. They do similar things yet Yelan can draw 2 cards, deal so much Hydro dmg early on, and 2dmg per basic atk for 2 full rounds. Too much value
@@blepthecat They gaslighted me to believe that "Underwater Treasure Hunt" is 'always' 2 dice cost card during the game...😭 Me in mind: "Wait! wasn't this card cost 1 dice? Is there something wrong with my memory? I think 2 dice cost is more reasonable for how much this card does but I'm also pretty sure that it costs 1 dice in previous matches..."
Underwater and Taromaru should be nerfed to only create 3 energy how do you justify going plus 3 energy for 2 unaligned cost even when lumenspar and now the new meta make it so easy to draw cards
I stay convinced that they should introduce some deckbuilding restrictions for cards like Lyre/Unseen Razor/Boar Princess + Gilded-like dice printers. Something like “only one type of ‘forcefully discard equipment’ is allowed per deck, not all of them at once”. Or even "these cards cannot be added to a deck where dice generating artifacts already exist". Like, pick one, either a significant discount on 3-cost equipment OR free 2 dice. No restrictions on playing all of that at once feels a bit excessive to me.
I really wonder, if they don’t test the cards correctly before releasing them or what’s going on there. I mean, the Jeht nerf took way too long but for the new shell card, they do an emergency patch? I’m a lil bit confused.. maybe Hoyoverse needs some TCG RUclipsr in the team to test new cards & characters before releasing them🥲
The main issue ends up being that there's way less developers making TCG than players, and the best players are usually going to be better than the developers at the game. I'm sure they test the cards as best as they can, but there is always a risk of "missing" something just because the community is spending like 1000x the number of hours playing the game. Usually, heavy balance changes means they're making risky designs - which is honestly a good thing, we've had 'low impact' patches before where new cards don't change anything and it's kind of boring. Honestly I don't mind the patch if it wasn't for the fact that it messed with Prince Cup pretty heavily

Yeah! Kinda cool that they are paying enough attention to do it though at least
I’m so glad I had a chance to play old treasure yelan… ok so when another abnormously good deck drops.
We'll find out soon with Prince Cup matches starting. But it usually takes a few weeks for the "best" deck of the meta to emerge
I didn’t think they’d do any emergency balances. I didn’t really use Yelan so I’m not too upset!
