Man, talk about an unlikeable main character.
>Look man, don't tell or we're all buggered.
>"Nah, I think I'm gonna tell anyway, I wanna be a rockstar".
>Alright, we're leaving you behind then.
>"Alright alright I changed my mind, don't leave me here this sucks".
>Alright, alright, you learned your lesson.
>"Well now that I think about telling sure sounds like a good plan".
Moral of the story: Never give a second chance to someone that immediately changes their mind but only upon the threat of immediate retribution.
Very true
Moral of the story: Don't even bother talking, just put a bullet between their eyes and be done with it.

The real horror is how real this is. The real horror is human ignorance
I thought the ignorance was unbelievable. There was no clear character motivation for him to share the finding. Fame, money, stupidity?
@@andresk4694 Ya, I agree it felt tacked on an pointless.
human greed is to blame here, he knew what would happen if he pressed send but he wanted the fame and fortune of finding a new planet knowing by the time earth was enslaved he would be dead.
Meh. "Aliens enslave humanity" has been dismissed as sci fi nonsense. Civilizations this advanced can easily create robotic workers that are far better suited than slaves. Robots that don't need food, that don't need rest, that can survive far harsher conditions, that'll never rebel or question you, whose bodies are specifically designed for the work. Hell, *we're* close to being able to create such workers. There's absolutely no reason for an advanced alien race to enslave humanity like this.

The thing is people like that never seem to have to clean there mess up it's left to everyone else
@@huntish nah he was told that it would all happen in his lifetime.
No no. The thing about /r/nosleep is that the stories are supposed to be based in reality. As in this is someone's actual account of something that happened in their life. The way /r/nosleep works is that you tell a story that cant be easily disproven or something with a mere google search so the possibility of the tale being true will always remain. I'm not saying all of them are true but some of them can be. This is definitely one of the possible stories that can be true. I hope to all that is good that there wont be a part 2.
@@TreWillz Well, I guess this really depends on personal taste then. I really get where you are coming from, it's just that I see this very differently, because for me the whole 'could have happened' premise is BS at least as far as this story is concerned.
It just does not work for me this way, it is a _great_ story, but for me it's definitely not one of those stories that could be true. For that, it has faaar too much of this 50's sci-fi flick vipe. Which is _great,_ I _love_ those movies, but it does not make the story believable in a 'could happen right now, right in your town' kind of way.
Also, I don't want to be smug here, but if there is a part 2 that you don't want to hear, just don't watch it should it be released?

Ah, humans back at it again. We send all these signals into space but have we actually considered the possibility of very advanced aliens who own many planets looking to expand territory or whatnot? They’ll be like “would you look at that, a habitable planet just contacted us, that’s another ez planet for us to conquer”. Like that’s a very real possibility, it’s like a rabbit desperately calling out trying to attract predators.
Ah humans back at it again, assuming other highly evolved societies would be as backwards as ourselves.
@@andresk4694 there's literally no reason to believe they wouldn't be like us. They are non existent as of now.
@@andresk4694 how is it backwards? Overpopulation would also be a thing in alien planets, especially if they’re more advanced than us, so why wouldn’t they look for habitable planets?
Dr Stephen hawking made that point before passing, he said "One day we might receive a signal from a planet like Gliese 832c, but we should be wary of answering back."
@@MrPlayDay are you asking how it is backwards to expand like a virus, beyond material capacity, destroy the environment, doom a substantial amount of the population to extreme poverty, hunger and sickness, which are all avoidable, and then "conquer" others in wars of murder and torture because "scarcity" of resources? To then turn around and justify humanities bestiality on some sort of natural order of things that is then applied to AI and other theoretical advanced alien species? In a futile attempt to justify our own folly?
I don't know that all seems very backwards to me.
Also regarding if they are looking for habitable planets, that might be, I am criticizing the assumption that alien species would act as backwards as human beings in such a scenario.
"I know some of you will be upset about me"

That guy in the story took that warning ⚠️ and ran the other direction.... lol

A select group of people tell a scientist that if he shows his world this new planet he discovered that the Alien race that inhabits said planet will not only conquer but enslave and quite possibly exterminate Earth's population and this guy does it anyways?
Pretty realistic to be honest.
A better twist than “he did it anyway” would have been getting a visit from another guide after deciding not to do it and being told that the original plan to enslave humanity was for the purpose of preparing them for an even greater threat and that being “enslaved” was the “good” outcome. At least that what I was expecting halfway through the story.
Yeah this story was kinda stupid
That actually would have been one HELL of a good twist. They kind of dodged an amazing twist with that one.

Lol man I would love a follow up story of this guy being hunted down and finally cornered by the remnants of humanity that knew full well what would happen if he revealed his discovery.
Honestly, it couldn't have ended any other way. If he didn't send it, no one can come back to stop him, making a paradox. Time's a bitch that way.
When he said he hit send, immediately in my head I could hear Red Forman from That 70s Show going DUMBA§§ 😂
The thing is, there's only so much he can to by keeping it hidden. Someone else is eventually bound to discover it, and what then? Future humans should have thought it through a little more.
This story's ending actually pissed me off and obviously it's a work of fiction. Mainly because I know some ass hat scientist would make the same dumb decision. Ugh.
Me at 8:30 - Honestly, so far this just sounds like real life.
Me at 15:40 - Oh, that explains it.

Never underestimate an idiot and his ego. If stupidity knows no bounds, what's that say about stupidity with a purpose?
Good story!
What if it was a Jules Verne's Time Machine-esque paradox? He had to make his discovery known otherwise things wouldn't unfold as they should so they'd have a reason to time travel back to try and warn him off. That the world they tried to prevent was our unchangeable fate.
My reaction to ending: “You had *ONE* job”
Someone said this before, there are only 2 reasons why space is so quiet, either alien civilizations (if ever there is) are avoiding conflict or are already dead.
Super-advanced aliens with teleportation, flying cars and all, and naturally, they use humans with pickaxes for mining. Makes sense.
Well fuck.
That bites!
YAAAAAAAS a story on a happy Saturday 😊
Why do so many people assume that more advanced races will become more destructive? Why not go the Star Trek perspective and assume that more advanced races become more peaceful as they get older. Sure there may be some that are more aggressive, but their could also be many working together to solve problems instead of create them.
Because it's a reflection of human nature
Here's a theory, not one I believe as I don't think there is intelligent live out there.
The majority of species would grow to be peaceful and cooperative. But let's say one in ten goes the way of war and conquest. That one with it's superior experience and resources would take out the remaining nine. Meaning any species we make contact with is more likely to be violent than not.
We must conquer them first and enslave them for the betterment of mankind. Humanity Above All.
@@hobosam21 True, but there is a difference between being peaceful yet able to defend yourself and peaceful yet not having anything at all. Although, your theory is quite interesting to think about.

They should have taken the terminator approach just killed him and destroyed the findings
This "scientist" is just like the Boston Dynamics engineers who watched Terminator and the Matrix in the 80s and 90s and still decided to make killer robots anyways.
As horrible as what the guy did, you can't really fault the guy for thinking it was just all a dream, considering he didn't even have any sort of memento like a scar or an item that they could've left him for proof.
But otherwise, "Meh, I'll be long dead before that all happens, it's not my problem." -that guy, probably
Looking like some phoenix point crab boi there
Such a disappointing ending tbh, feels really unbelievable considering the scene the person saw and the fact that they told him it would get that bad in his lifetime. So it doesn't really make any sense for him to get credit for the discovery when he would end up being a slave or whatever in that same lifetime, plus he saw how bad it got firsthand. The story would have been a lot more interesting if it had a better plot twist like maybe the other planet somehow intervened in his time travel as apparently the technology is from them, which would actually make that plot point more relevant.
This dikhead after the warning goofball still sold us out🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
