In 2017, Payton was sure that he would be able to select Drew Brees' successor in New Orleans. His target? A prospect by the name of Patrick Mahomes. Draft night did not go as he envisioned and his time with Saints eventually came to an end.
Now the head coach of the Broncos, Payton is looking for a second chance at getting his hands on a franchise QB. Unlike 2017, he got his man.

Payton didn't say he reminds him of Mahomes in play style lol. He said he didn't trade want to mess around and trade back and have him get snagged because he thought Mahomes would fall too. Payton has said Nix is Nix.

Though Patrick Mahomes is good now, there's no certainty that he would have developed the way he did if he didn't land in KC. The Chiefs were already a playoff caliber team and Andy Reid is one of the best coaches of the past 20 years. If Mahomes fell to the Browns or Jags, he'd probably be out of the league by now or a no name back up.

I love my broncos, but the line worries me. However I have faith that our young QB can make those quick passes .
Helps your o line if you don't panick instantly and run into sacks lol. Or can make plays in the middle of the field.
