    Bought a Turbo in December. Amazing car, and really love the head up display. I also have a 992 911 Targa - and I feel the macan drives very similar… which is insane.

      It was a very impressive car and I’d imagine suits the ‘second car’ role very well next to your targa! What a two car garage you have! 👏🏼

    The HUD display technique is called AR (augmented reality) and is established in planes since decades. Needs some time to get used to but helps a lot in lane changing on motorways and multi lane roads while navigating. I'll get mine in June. Thx for the video!

    • @FirstDriveReviews
      @FirstDriveReviews  14 дней назад

      Thanks! Yes that is right and I have seen AR HUD’s done well in other cars, the main thing that bothered me about this system was not the display itself but the fact it was connected to the steering in such a sensitive manor that the tiniest input in steering the display moved quite a lot, it almost gave a motion sickness feeling (to me at least) but yes perhaps I would have got used to it in time but to be honest after the first 6 hours of using it I just turned it off

    I had the 4S for a days test. I got used to the head up display after a bit, pretended I was in an F35! It also highlighted lanes on a foggy motorway which was cool. The Porsche sound is standard on the Turbo but I refuse to pay £385 on the 4S for 3 lines of code!!! But I’m actually leaning towards the Cupra Tavascan which has the same VW tech, loads of standard kit and about £35K cheaper like for like spec but adds in remote parking which would help in my garage

    • @FirstDriveReviews
      @FirstDriveReviews  14 дней назад +2

      That’s a good shout, that Cupra is a good looking car! I think we are heading into a world where there is almost 1 car in a group and then every manufacture puts their own spin on it, with different styling, options and of course price but it is essentially the same car.

    Tell your mum to drive the standard Macan 4. It's pokey AF. 640hp isn't so outrageous for an EV. Neither is 3.3s 0-60 in a top-of-the-range Porsche. Still,I love this car. The size is perfect and the handling is perfection considering how comfortable it is. I'm waiting for the S-version. All four versions of the EV Macans are slower than my Rivian, so I'm not going to pay a premium for the turbo. If I'm going to drive an absurdly overpriced "slow" Porsche, the Macan 4S is the sweet spot. Plus I don't need the dorky "Turbo" badge on the back. I'll deal with removing the "electric" badges on the sides. Couple of gripes that I hope Porsche sorts out by the time the S comes along. First, why the key? I haven't carried around a massive key in years. The keys for my classics are small, and my newer cars all operate via phone. Second, why no engine braking? On my EV's and with my ICE cars, I like to use the engine/motors to slow the car down on the back roads. I don't buy the "it's a Porsche thing" argument. Third, the charging flap. If you pay extra, you get a buggy and temperamental sliding door. If you don't opt for that, you get a cheap gas-like door. Neither option says quality. In some noticeable areas, it seems like Porsche is a little behind the times.

      You can open/lock the doors via the app, in Danish it's called 'comfort entry'. There's also full stop regen braking, it's just a question of activating it.

      @MissMiaFit Ah great, thank you! I personally prefer full regen so you can use just one pedal almost so that is interesting

    loving the front design, not sure about the back 🤔

    • @FirstDriveReviews
      @FirstDriveReviews  14 дней назад +1

      I am with you on that, I think the front looks great but there is something missing on the back, it drastically needs a roof spoiler but I’d imagine it doesn’t have one for aero/range reasons

  • @harmony3138

    Why the obsession with just neck-jerking blistering cars??
    Why nothing about base RWD model, that has more range as well, and still brisk enough for our 20-30mph speed limits in towns?

    • @FirstDriveReviews
      @FirstDriveReviews  13 дней назад

      Because this was the car Porsche offered me…however, that was the point I was making…these massive power ev family cars are largely pointless

      Agree.
      I've not seen anyone review the base RWD model.
      Would be good to know, so consumers have choices.
      But I guess, top model makes Porsche more money, hence they offer reviewers this :)

    PCP vs buying is not as simple as you claim. The lender earns a high interest rate on the money you borrow, and they build into the contract the anticipated decline in value. So you’re paying for depreciation whether you buy or not. The PCP does give you some insurance if the residual value is below the lender’s estimate, but you pay for that insurance. In the past, that benefited drivers, but companies now are more savvy about estimating depreciation on EV’s. There is no way of knowing whether the actual residual value in the future will be more or less than the lender’s estimate in the contract.
    The most economical option is to buy the vehicle, with or without financing, and hold it for an extended time. Keeping the vehicle for a longer time reduces the average depreciation per year. Suppose one keeps the £100,000 vehicle for ten years and the value goes to zero (worst case). The average depreciation would be £10,000 per year, which is much less than the depreciation per year factored into the PCP. While ten years might be too long for most owners, the concept is similar at fewer years.
    Finally, if financing, one should compare offers from other lenders beyond Porsche to find the best terms.

    Great car, but you don’t need a £100k model… the entry-level is probably just over £30k cheaper, and will be fast enough still but with the best Macan range. That’d be my choice (although, to be fair, I’d probably wait a few years and get a used one for maybe £40k).

    'Turbo' on a EV what a nonsence. This new macan should also have had a ICE version too with the S and GTS and the 2.9 V6. how can u still call this a Porsche. its not different than any other EV potato on the road these days with the exception of the interior and exterior, which isnt even good looking compared to the old model. objectivly probaly an ok car. But no Porsche character whatsoever.
