Good video but u forgot 3 things. First, u didn't check the gap on the new spark plugs, second, u didn't use any anti seas on the plugs for the next spark plug change. And third, u didn't say to use a thin wall 5/8 socket. Thick wall socket won't fit in the spark plug hole. Also, I use a peice of vacuum hose and attach it to the new spark plug to install them, that way u don't cross thread the new spark plug.
@@bdanielcal4608 well u got lucky, this is my second set of plugs, so tell me why when I installed my first set of plugs, 5 engine codes came up. Wrong gap.
@@rickhartman3960 I don't know I bought ngk iridium and they were 2 different part numbers the exhaust was gapped at .44 and I believe the intake was 39
@@bdanielcal4608 So I had to take out my plugs and very gently gap them. 2 of my plugs were at .052, 1 plug was at .051, I know ur not suppose to touch the gap, I hear u on that but I never trust the gap from the manufacturer. First of all this engine 4.7ltr. V8 has 16 spark plugs not 8 from the start of the video. Second I found it difficult to use either a 16 mm or a 5/8 in socket to drop into the spark plug jackets in order to remove the original spark plugs therefore if you have a grinder grind down the outside of the spark plug socket 5/8 or 16 mm in order for it to go down into the jackets for the removal of the spark plug or the insulation of the new spark plug. Thirdly I always unhooked but the positive and the negative on the battery rather than just unhooking the negative end of the battery for the PCM and the relearn. Fourthly you'll find this job much easier to do if you simply get an 8 mm socket on both three bolts on the driver side and the passenger side fender liners and removing the fender liners to gain access to the spark plugs on the sides of the engine. Furthermore and removal of the top spark plugs you always do it by hand you don't ever use an air ratchet if it gets in a bind on those jackets where the socket is down into you could cut into the aluminum causing aluminum shavings to drop down into the spark plug holes and removal or even in the installation of the new spark plugs always do it by hand. Other than that don't know if the phone got broke or not whenever it fell and hit the ground but I hope it didn't and hope everyone has a great day and this helps!

LoL 😆 right !! And too many in the comments think they have the same engine but 16 plugs . If you have 16 plugs , it is not the same engine as 8 plugs , that is so stupid it makes my head hurt
I was thinking the same thing. I have 5.7 (the real v8..) and literally changed my plugs yesterday and didn't do anything besides move the tube connecting to the throttle body or whatever tf from the air box (idk terms just how to fix shit lol) and didn't get electrocuted. literally just take the packs out at the angle they sit and use a MAGNETIC SPARK PLUG SOCKET NOT A REGULAR ONE
A thin walled spark plug socket with a swivel. Amazon has a few. Don't get the long ones. Get the swivel thin-walled one (it has to be thin walled to fit). I did this job about two months ago on my 2009 4.7L. Good luck

Those plugs are iridium and you don't mess with the gap and ngk plugs are application specific plugs so the gap is already set

Isn't this a duel spark plug I have the same truck 4.7 with 16 spark plugs
It is yes
It is baha!
Bro. Yall wouldn't believe how many times I've only changed 8. My engine is probably ready to punch out on me 😂😂😂
Both my trucks have 16 my 2009 single cab 4.7 and my 2016 crew cab 5.7
Wait. Doesn't that 4.7 have 2 spark plugs per cylinder?
Yes 16 spark glug and 8 coil ignition
Those are the easy eight. The other eight aren't so simple..
Lol yeah everytime I change those I fund some stupid change only upper ones😊
No . The 4.7 magnum v8 is not 2 spark plugs per cylinder as the 5.7 hemi is
I use a piece of rubber gas line to get them started back in,a 6 inch piece in hose as long as it fits tight around the end of the spark plug.
No anti seize ? With an aluminum block? 🧐
Anti seize? What's that? Haha just kidding.
These have iron blocks, but the heads are aluminum. The spark plug inserts are steel though
There are 16 plugs, one at the end of the plug wire and one under each coil.
What spark plugs did everyone use ? I see various people going with iridium for the engine and copper for exhaust
I used the top of the line 28.00 plugs x 16 and the top tier coil packs for the Hemi .

Where are 16 spark plugs on this engine. 2 per cylinder
That's the truck i have and it has 16 plugs.
I noticed some people don’t remove the negative battery cable
Shhhhh don’t tell nobody 💀💀
I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 and I used a 5/8 regular socket and it didn’t fit so I used a thin 16m and it didn’t fit either so I just ordered one
What socket did you order? I have the same problem
What kind of socket did you use to remove these spark plugs?
I second that question. It looked like he used a regular spark socket. People on the internet say you must use an ultra thin socket .
I used a regular spark plug socket mate

Basically the same except with totally different spark plugs
Yes that is correct! It’s a fairly simple process if you do it slow and take your time.
Where the hell do I find a thin wall 5/8 without ordering one
I need the answer
You sayin a regular spark plug socket won't work? Nothing was said about that in this shitty video!
@@frogshitjj no I tried a regular socket And it won’t fit you need a thin wall 5/8 thin wall
I ran into this yesterday I ended up grinding one to fit as I was stranded at that point 😂
have to order.
Do you need special socket to pull spark plugs...???
Yes you need a thin wall socket
Wow , thank you for posting, new sub

What's on the other end of the spark plug wire
Another spark plug
Great video
The truck have 16 spark plug
I have a 3.7L Dodge Ram 1500. Do you know the order of the cylinders? I could not seem to find it on the web.
A pain to find but from the best I could tell, looking at the front of engine right to left going back toward firewall the order is 1,2,3,4,5,6
Which one is the number 7 cylinder?
Was yours misfiring as well if so what did you do to figure it out
Go to your AutoZone let them scan the vehicle and it'll come up on the report what is wrong with it mine said number seven spark plug or the coil to replace them I got all brand new ones

Which one it's the number 4?

There are actually 16 spark plugs in there!
My check engine light is on. It is a P0740; something about the torque converter In transmission What do you recommend?

My 2012 has 16 plugs

At how many miles you change your spark plugs
@Shaun I’m at 210k with the original plugs.... well I assume the originals. Got it at 70k
The owners manual say to change top rows at 48k, replace ignition cables and top and bottom plugs at 96k, top rows again at 144k.
Where did you get that magnet?
What 5/8 spark plug socket do you recommend for this job?
A thin walled spark plug socket with a swivel. Amazon has a few. Don't get the long ones. Get the swivel thin-walled one (it has to be thin walled to fit). I did this job about two months ago on my 2009 4.7L. Good luck

4.7 is not a Hemi
neither is the newer dodges with the 5.7. Not a real hemi, just rebranded from the magnum motor.
💯🔥🔥
That has 16 spark plugs not 8
Do any of yall know if the bottom spark plugs are the same as the upper ones?
They are NOT.
They stopped using 4.7s after 2013.
I wonder why?? Anyone know?
