This video has been restored and compiles under Public Domain and Derivative Works guidelines by Timeless Television. My Little Margie is an American television situation comedy starring Gale Storm and Charles Farrell that alternated between CBS and NBC from 1952 to 1955. The series was created by Frank Fox and produced in Los Angeles, California, at Hal Roach Studios by Hal Roach, Jr., and Roland D. Reed
My grandmother (also named Margie), was presentable -hair done, a bit of makeup, dressed for the day-until the day she died. Not fancy, just nice. She was a good example on so many levels.
Ahhhh, those were the days when the whole family could sit down and watch any program on tv.
Watched this as a little kid. I thought ‘Margie’ was beautiful, too. Loved her humor and kindness.
I had a crush on Margie's dad . . . lol
I watched this as a kid in the 1950's. Feeling so nostalgic!

I thought that I was old just kidding
Same here. Even the intro music at the start triggers memories
Same here, I was about five or six.
Dontcha just love the simplicity in the storyline. Everyone is dressed impeccably and the plot is easy-going. Takes you back to a simpler time.
this is how people wanted to see themselves not necessarily how they really were.
Loved this show! It was wonderful seeing the beautiful English actress Hilary Brooks. She had a running role in this as neighbor and girlfriend. Her clothes and hair in this episode were timeless and so elegant.
I’m hoping it will help my nervous digestion!
@@QueenBee-gx4rp She was on w Abbott and Costello as well
When a girl had but one thought, hook a guy
Gail Storm born in 1922 was also a recording artist and had numerous top 10 hits. She recovered from alcoholism in the 1970s and wrote an autobiography about it. She had 4 children and a long life. She died in 2009.
Good heavens that set is incredible, right down to the coffee pot! I used to watch this, but I was really young.
These classic shows always makes me feel good. They did when I was a kid and still do now in my elderly years.
These folks are so classy, and the apartment is absolutely top drawer!😆
Absolutely...there was nothing like
upper middle class style in the 1950's.
I loved this show when I was young. It was one of my favorites. I'm 70 now.
I was born in 1958. I remember watching this in the very early 60s. Never saw it again growing up. All I could remember was the name of the show. Thanks for showing me it wasn't just my imagination.

'em like that anymore.😔
Haven't seen this show since I was a kid in the 1950's yet somehow I remembered the firm they worked for was Honeywell and Todd. It's funny the things you remember from 65 years ago yet can't remember what you did yesterday.

I'm not so far behind you, and I know exactly what you mean.
No sex, no drugs, no foul language! How wonderful...
@MrBigsexy8 Why do you want to go there? Why the name calling?
That's why they call it Satan's Palace now
No black people
Love the innocence of the old days. Takes me back to my childhood. Movie and TV content always had morals to the story.
Watched this great show as a small child. Loved it than and it brings back such great memories!
This was very cute. Actually, it's still hilarious, and the women are gorgeous!
Thank you for uploading this old comedy. Refreshing to not have to listen to canned laughter.
🌲🌝☘️
Also, in this video ... no modern commercials (or ads) intruding. Another bonus.
One of my favorite programs . Brings back so many memories.
I like the modern decor in their apartment. Dropping by for breakfast must be an old 1950s tradition. Margie's always "teaching dad a lesson." I love the backstage activity as Dad is given his lesson.
It was a tradition during and before the 1950s. The 60s had lots of cultural changes. Though some parts of the country still have the tradition; especially if someone has just a big life event: bought a home, lost a loved one, etc. I try to bring breakfast; it's more kind.
My late little brother and I always watched this. Don't know why he liked it too. I loved Gale Storm's swirly skirts.
WOW! Flashback to my childhood sitting on the living room floor watching this with my kid sister. Nice memory.
It is nice to watch these old films , even better without the background noise .
Remember watching Our Miss Brooks?
I've long been fond of TV shows from the 50s and 60s, but this is the first time I've seen or heard of this one. It was a nice surprise.
I was born in 1960. but I remember the reruns of this during the 60s/70s along with I Love Lucy, Honeymooners, Father Knows Best and Superman. Only broadcast TV back then, so you were lucky if you got more then 4 or 5 stations. Fortunately, I lived only about 20 miles from NYC so we received quite a few stations, seven in all. Which was a lot for back then.
I grew up in Chicago. We had 5 stations.
Charles Farrell a major film 🌟 in the late 20's-early 30's. His acting partner was Janet Gaynor in several films 💗
He was beyond handsome as a silent leading man, and even as an older gent in "Margie" it showed.
How beautifully the women dressed.
What a romantic time.
Appearances don’t necessarily equate to reality.
That's how businesspeople dressed at that time. men wore suits and ties; women wore dresses and stockings. Having your hair done was all part of it. And tennis shoes were NEVER worn except to play sport games, or to work around the yard. A far more elegant time.
I used to love this show. How disappointing it is to realize now that it was so manipulative. I wish I didn't see this. It ruins my memories of how much I used to enjoy it.
@@GabardineSweetie You're right. I'd much rather watch today's TV shows with the subliminal messages of sex, drugs, cheating partners, lying to bosses, friends and family, crossdressers, gay marriage, stealing, murder and mayhem...NOT !
I think the pointy bras are kind of funny, though.
OMG! I haven't thought of this show in years. I was born in 1949 and this was one of my favourite shows. I loved Gale Storm. This show and Love that Bob with Bob Cummings, Hey Jeannie about a Scottish immigrant girl arriving in the USA and Spring Bride (?)
oh also my Mum's favourite the Garry Moore show with Durwood Kirby. Wish I could go back to those days I was so happy then not knowing anything about the world!! Also wish my older brother was still alive so I could sent him the link to this site he would have loved it. Miss you lots Dave!
I hope they can dig up the shows, "Living Doll" with Bob Cummings, & "Westward Ho". Such great obscure shows! Thanks!
December Bride with Spring Byington
A couple of years ago I bought a multiple DVD package of December Bride. The quality varies, but I'm glad to own it. One of the best shows, ever! @@karendegraaf1146
I Married Joan
I was so young when I started watching this in 1950s, I’d forgotten about this show until today. Now I remember everything!
I remember this in the early 60’s when I was a kid. Best family shows back then. Thank you for sharing the memories.
Memories of days gone by!
The age of 📞 landlines. So great that there is no canned laughter.
🌲🌝☘️
I watched some episodes in reruns in the 60s. Always liked this programe. The apartment is fabulous with that post deco "Moderne" style just prior to midcentury modern. Everyones so well mannered and dressed. Of course this wasn't life for everyone back then but so delightful.
No canned laughter. Incredible!
This might as well be from ANOTHER WORLD.
So incredible haven't seen this great show in maybe 60+ yrs and often thought about it thru the yrs flashback tv and my Lionel train!
I'd forgotten all about this show until I saw the title!
I watched this also in the 50s… I LOVED it! Hope to see it on reruns some time!!!
Dangling earrings before breakfast! Love seeing this again, very much of its time.
It's nice to see Gale Storm. For many years, she and her then husband Lee Bonnell owned a house just outside of Elkhart, Indiana - my mother's hometown. Bonnell was originally from South Bend. In the early 1950s, she and Jean Hagen (Tee Danny Thomas Show) put the South Bend-Elkhart "Michiana" area on the map!
@ millenniumman75: Interesting. Elkhart connection here. Like most commenters here I remember watching this show as a kid in the 50's. Huge fan of Gale Storm. Don't forget about Beulah Bondi from nearby Valparaiso, Indiana George Bailey's mother in It's A Wonderful Life.
I played in a varsity basketball game against Elkhart Central in 1964. I think they were ranked number one in the state at that time and we lost by six points. I also was the lead architect for several renovations and expansion projects at Elkhart General Hospital in the mid 2000's. They were a very demanding client but we developed trust in each other. Unfortunately the town has declined in the last two or three decades due to the common plagues of many American towns but experienced a bit of a comeback lately.
Apologies for the rambling off topic comments. My Little Margie was a jewel of a show to me. As I have watched brief clips it has become a really great cultural bit of charming and innocent nostalgia filled with nuances of the day. God Bless
This show makes me want to go to the beauty parlor, wear a pretty dress, and smoke a cigarette. I know women weren't always "put together" in those days, but we have fallen far regarding our dress and manners.
The wardrobe and the manners are very admirable, but they are severely overshadowed by the actual plot which highlights just what a totally unnecessarily sad existence women were forced into in those days.
Isn't it ironic that it's the neo-liberals who want these shows banned precisely because of what you wrote. They actually now put smoking warnings on Amazon prime. LOL. This show today is now rated X. LOL!
@@jhlfsc sad? what was sad about it?
@@Mark-hc8ek
This show clearly is not "banned" anywhere, and certainly not because of the way they are dressed. I can't imagine what gave you that idea?
@@angieherrera1850
What was sad, bordering on pathetic was how the girls desperately got plotted together to "trick" him into going back to a woman that he CLEARLY did not care about but waited for him anyway since financial security could not be found by any other means. Very sad....well written but sad premise.
I noticed no laugh track I barely remember this from my youth and I thank you for putting it on RUclips to watch again
My first Love! Great show as a child of the 50' s.
I remember watching this show as a child. It was enjoyable then and just as enjoyable to watch now.
A "humdinger"...a dollar for a bowl of soup...dig that crazy vapor..."well, whoopdeedoo"...when 'gay' meant 'happy'. ๏‿๏ I'm just in awe! Have to show this to Mom, who'll remember! Strange tho, how our human situations haven't changed content very much in all these years. Just a different way of living. Those huge petticoats were cool - and the gloves too! 💙
Charles Farrell was one of the most handsome silent film stars.
Women were put together better then than now. My mother never went out in public that she didn't look her best. She was absolutely beautiful and looked like a combination of Ava Gardner and Liz Taylor. Besides that she was the Martha Stewart in her day, and very kind.
I was born in 1946 and remember watching this when I was young
Thank you for this. In New York this and Topper were rerun staples.
I am so glad Charles Farrell got a second act in his acting career 💙 Hillary Brooke was delightful.
What a great show! Watched it with my folks. Thank you.
I was 3yrs old when I came aware of the greatness of radio & TV. As I grew up, I watched them again in reruns. Also loved Zazu Pitts. I have great admiration for Gayle's musical talents.
I have always enjoyed " My Little Margie," and the stars in it! It was a fun, enjoyable series, one which I wished had been on longer! I use to really like when Margie would make that" gi..,.,rl" sound when she was exasperated with a situation she had to deal with, especially with her father! I liked Mr.Honeywell, too!

Holy crap! This takes me WAY back- to the days of Captain Kangaroo, and the Howdy Doody show, and Romper Room. I couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 that last time I watched one of these episodes! It looks like this was actually before the days of (what used to be called) "canned laughter".
Thanx so much, Timeless Television, for sharing this little gem.
Keep 'em coming, please?
My Little Margie was always a favorite, so very very very long ago. Nice to see Margie, Freddy, Roberta, Vern, and Mr Honeywell again.
I missed sering my favorite 'bit' at the end, tho. So sweet, the camera would zoom in on the photo of Margie and her dad, and the photo would 'come to life', and Margie and Vern would make final comments, ending with Vern saying, 'Well, that's my little Margie.'
Thanx for the nostalgia trip!
Born in 1950 I do recall watching these probably the repeats later . The Bob Cummings Show and Dogie Gillis at this time .....great memories.
Nice!
Thank you for this great TV show
Those were the days
Herman mentioned this on the Munsters. That’s what brought me here.
Joanie on Happy Days referenced it, also
This gives me some great memories! I subscribed immediately, looks like a fun channel. ♥️ nostalgia!
Love it when I come across something I completely forgot, thank you.
Oh my God remember this from the 50s..my family worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis
Thanks! I used to watch this at lunch with my Grandmother 60 years ago
I absolutely love and enjoy watching these black and white movies! Can’t get enough of them. There great!!💖
My grandma often mentioned this show. Im glad I found it.
Aloha, loved this show, great memories of such a classic, innocent time.
I believe Sandra was played by Joan Shawlee, who always reminded me of Joan Blondell.
More of an Ava Gardner look.
I want the Albright apartment 😃
Fell in love with this beautiful sitcom. Hollywood should do a research-boot of a new ‘My Little Margie’.
I hope not. Have you seen what they did to Archie, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Nancy Drew, etc...
Frightening.
have you seen wandavision?
I totally agree. I used to love watching this on our family old wood t.v. :-)
Never happenable after 1965 except in the backwoods, not NYC.
We got a whole ONE tv station back then... too bad it didn't stay that way, anyways was infatuated with Gale Storm ....happy to see this again... Thanks for posting
I kind of remember this show. But was very young at the time.
Thank you for happy memories.
We didn't have a TV when I was real little and my dad worked nights, as well as days, a lot. We would go to our next doors neighbor's and watch TV with her. My Little Margie was one of our favorites.
I watched the reruns of this in the early 60' as kid. Now watching it as an adult, I still think Clarence Kolb is the biggest gasbag on the screen. He was a character actor on the silver screen & tv. You have to see him in the movie "His Girl Friday" with Cary Grant as the corrupt mayor up for reelection and his scenes with Billy Gilbert each upstaging the other. Thanks for posting this....
begs54 Clarence Kolb was practically the go-to guy when casting a blustering, demanding bully of a boss. That raspy voice really paid dividends throughout his long career, and he had expert timing.
Despite an infantile, highly predictable, early 1950s script, I thoroughly enjoyed this memory from the past. I liked it way back when, and I still do. Thank you Timeless Television!
So....it was talking to you between bottles...
Gale Storm had a wonderful voice!!
We didn't own a TV until 1958, but I definitely remember this show because Roberta is my name, too. Another show called "Harrington" with a catchy theme song was one i looked forward to warching. Of course, Our Miss Brooks was always a top choice in those days. Thanks for the memories!
Margie was supposedly only 21. I was thinking she looked 35 or 40!
She was born in 1922, so in 1953, she would have been 31, 10 years older than the character she played. Regardless, she looks lovely and had a vibrant personality!
I was named after Gale Storm!❤️
Thanks for the memories
I had forgotten about this show! Always watched as a kid!
Miss Fleming had quite a set of gunboats
Gale Storm called me many years ago…to wish me a happy birthday…she was very sweet and had a Texas accent..she lived in Dania Point..her husband had passed at that time…
Thanks for sharing that. 🙂 Interesting to know about her accent, also. I hadn't realized that.
Thanks for sharing that! Very interesting. I didn't realize she had a Texas accent.
Watched every episode growing up
This reminds me of a Little Rascals skit. Very cute
I absolutely forgot about this Television Show haha.
Loved this in reruns in the '60's as a little kid. This show was the Summer replacement in 1954 when I Love Lucy was on hiatus. Hillary Brook, Vern's GF was gorgeous.
Gale Storm was my "first crush" when I was 8 years old. Sure brings back memories.
wow just to dress & live that life, just once. I was born early in the 50's. This is what I thought the world was.
The shoulders on these men's suits are hysterical. Every guy looks like "Joe" he-man;)
EDIT: Let's not forget the ladies silhouettes either, with their eye threatening brassieres. What a fun show this must have been...
So funny I must share this thanks again
They called that a gold digging Hussie
Never heard of this, but will give it a shot!
I watched as a kid and loved it.
I used to watch this when I was 10 and wanted to be just like Margie! ANd I wished I had a dad like Vern! Now Im 74 and I can see what good role models they were for me.
I can still remember this theme song from seeing the opening of this series when it was being rerun in the early to middle 1960s - I’d see it after the ending of the kid’s show on which I’d watch the Three Stooges.

I liked Mrs. Odets in the show. I liked that she was often scheming with Margie and funny in her own right. Normally, seniors were only the butt of ageist jokes. Now that I'm a senior, I appreciate it more.

Loved this show ❤️ 👏
I watched this as a kid; this & Bob Cummings and, of course, Topper.
I heard about this show, but this is the first time that I watched it.
I love the simple intro music
Quite entertaining despite its age. The sensibilities of the time seem ridiculous of course but it is unfair to judge by our times. Rather it is a window on a long gone world.
