Yeah. Well, not completely, it is correct that NE has much oil and arguably some of the best agricultural land, esp for wheat and barley. but yes, this is a huge oversimplification. You are mistaken. While obviously Syria should be unified for development, the oil resources, refineries, workforce, and lands outside of NE are very rich, and many of the richest parts of Syria in this regard are not within the NE, which is actually under-developed. However, when you say northeast, you are talking about a massive area, bigger than any province. Also, remember that outside powers such as Turkey have an interest in pushing the Syrians to annex NE and believe they rely on it without ditching the Turkish lira and acting basically as pawns and cannon fodder for the Turks. So while you are not completely mistaken, your understanding is incomplete and even potentially dangerous.
