- Quick tutorial how to fix alarm randomly going off and eventually car not locking because of bonnet / hood latch broken . I will show you a quick workaround and full fix in the video
Latch part number I used Manufacturer Part Number: LR065340, LR041431, LR024358
Nice video mate. Cheers. These latches are a pain in the backside.
Hope it helped . Was a nightmare when it happened I didn’t know what was going on . And there was no videos about it so thought I would help the next person this happens too. Was surprised the paper clip trick worked .which in a pinch let me lock the car
Hi changed the latch with sensor but the dash is still showing bonnet is open and car won’t lock! Any advice what could the cause I sued genuine LR part do I need to reset the warning light?
@@syedkazmi4066 did you try the paper clip trick to see if it was the sensor
Great video cheers for that worth knowing for the future, was about to replace mine but realised the passenger side wasn’t shutting properly as the latch had seized. Just mentioning it for others who might have the same problem. You can check this first by shutting the bonnet then lifting it and if it feels loose then it’s probably the latch not the sensor (could be both in which case you’ll still have to change obviously). In my case a really good spray of both of the latches with wd40 and prizing them free with a screwdriver loosened them up and bingo the bonnet shut properly!
I had same problem with a 2012 Evoque. I spritzed WD-40 into both areas where the hood latched. Opened and closed it several times, then tried to lock the car and viola, success. Try this first if you get the "hood or bonnet open" warning, along with the inability to lock the car. It's a lot easier, faster, not to mention cheaper than pulling the microswitch mechanism. Perhaps you'll get lucky also! And while you're at it, a lubricant sprayed at all the latch mechanisms is good insurance.
My switch was completely warn . But this may work for others
Amazing Sir it worked for me. Much appreciated🙏🙏❤❤
Thank you, thank you. WD-40 worked a treat but only when I sprayed it into the centre latch as well as the sensor mechanism holes. The microswitch is £32 inc. VAT so that's half a pint I owe you.
Thank you very much, this works for me! I spray on center and both sides
@@ishanperusingheW40 works for me, but thank you all the same
Great video, fixed mine in 20min thank you
Glad it helped
I found the part on eBay for $37 and was able to fix it myself. 😊
Hope my video helped
FYI I pumped 2 sprays of deep creep and its worked ever since. Maybe there was rust in there
Excellent
Ty for the video, just ordered 2 switches (am thinking that better just change both) --> same situation as you, also need to reset the service warning. The only difference is that I have a Discovery Sport 2016 and I really don't have space to pull out the sensor, so am guessing I will pull it off when unscrewing the 2 bolts.
There is only one side with sensor . You should be able to pull out sensor without taking out catch
Hey man did you manage to reset the service light with the bonnet and door method? Other videos show drivers side door needs to be open.. did yours work with the left open? Thanks
Yeah I was able to reset the service light using method with Bonet open
@@ishanperusinghe do you remember if you used the drivers door or passenger door?
@@naz-x think it was driver can’t remember . There should be a tutorial on RUclips
does this type of switch break the circuit or connect it?
Connects circuit when hood closed . That’s why the paper clip bridge works as temp solution
Need help locating the sensor!!!!
It’s on the back of one of the latches put you hand behind it
This need to buy 2 ? One each side or just one ?
No there is only one controlling and locking
@@ishanperusinghe not 2 pcs ?
@@ghazibagazi9687 not for this car . The hood pop will only control one side and sensor connection willl be on that side also
@@ishanperusinghe I have 2012 Range Rover Evoque, so only one?
Don’t show how to remove grill, especially the centre fixing! Waste of time really!
you obviously didn’t watch the video properly . It’s just the top fixing and a pull back . Well it is on my model .why even comment . I did this to help people .
@@ishanperusinghe you did help. Cheers
