Awesome video and info. The one thing I learned years ago about renting a vehicle in ES is to either get a recommended renta-a-car from the hotel or wherever you are staying as opposed to going on line for familiar companies. I had a bad experience with one of the large companies. I ended up returning the car the next business day. I shared my story with the hotel staff and they told me to ask them next time because they have relationships with local rent-a cars. Lesson learned.
I'm so sorry you had a bad experience renting a car. Did you go with one of the major chains? What was the issue with the car? Many of the hotels will have relationships with rental agencies and that is solid advice thank you. 😁 💙
@@ThatExpatMom thanks. It was the first time I was taking my American wife, son and sister in law. I wanted everything to be perfect. I booked car in advance to pick up at the airport from Hertz . When arrived, no car. They told us it was down the road. They drove us and when we got there, it took them an hour and a half to process the paperwork to tell us that the car we requested was in San Salvador. They drove us again to tell us that they had to clean it. Finally got it with no gas. Drove to get gas and the car wouldn’t start after we filled it. I called the company and they send someone to the gas station, swapped out the battery and left without saying anything. I drove away and the car had no horn. Got to the hotel, used credit card and they told us that there was q problem. Called the bank and they say that Hertz put a hold for 10k instead of 1k on my card. The hotel to me, next time call us, we’ll take care of you. Gave the car back on Monday with a full tank 😢

That's good to know about American Airlines, it isn't an El Salvador policy at all and sometimes it depends who you get at the check in counter, but many airlines require it. It also depends if you have dual citizenship already. 💙

How do we find out if our airline will stop our travel without return ticket .
I would reach out to your airline and give them a call. Ask them about their policy regarding flights to El Salvador and if they require a return flight home in order to board you.
