- Well, we FINALLY made it out to the mud flats for the first time in 2023. Well, except for my buddy Dave who is our weekly mud flats scout letting us know when it's accessible.
We had a big crew this time with some of my longest running friends. This is the first time we've all be out together in decades and it was a fantastic trip. We had lots of Hondas. Lots of three wheelers, some Yamahas, a few Polariseses, even a BVC Conversion out there! But, the Honda's definitely DOMINATED the day!
There was lots of towing and pushing and getting people un-stuck too... But I'm happy to report that not 1 350X got stuck!

That's right it fills Good when you help someone else out even if you don't know them
You had me cracking up@ the guy from Connecticut I knew exactly who you were talking about. I live really close to his museum.
That guy is a clown for sure. FULL of himself...
29:04 perfect opportunity to say yaaad but you chose "lawn" hahahahah
Hahahaha! You're right! I blew it!

Awesome a great day brother
best kept secret in upstate NY.... great times. might need to have a head to head challenge through some mud next time.
Agreed. I sometimes feel I shouldn't be letting the cat out of the bag with my videos! Saturday definitely went by too fast though... Sorry I was mean and did donuts around you when you were stuck in the mud. Pat fed me a sub with a lot of jalapeños on it at lunch, so I think that's why I was a little spicy. lol. I am definitely on board for some head to head mud trials!
rich could start charging admission / access fees. @@ThisOldTrike
I would gladly pay!
Dang i wish i was closer
Me too brother!
Yep, Got to get up some speed to make across some of those area, I did this sort of thing on an '85 250 BR during dry season on a river bed with alligators hidden in the thick grass with a few freinds of mine over 20 years ago, it was a blast. 9 hrs of solid riding.
Looks like a blast
Need to get you two out there next time!
Yamahas carry the tools .. because we know where it’s parked 😅cool video bud . I’ll be posting a video myself in a bit here from yesterday
lol! Thanks brother! I'll be on the look out!
Before u replace your chain. Take it all the way in, if not when your chain stretches you wouldn't have enough adjustment for your chain. I've been riding 3 wheeler's since 1985, and still ride 3 wheeler's
We use to ride the lake bottoms here alot.. not much anymore..
What bike was the BVC.
👍👍
Whereabouts are these mud flats? off the hudson? I lived on long island as a kid so I remember a few mud flats further out on the island, but can't recall any farther up. I am still doin my best to make trike fest in my goofy mancos lol I have a inverted front fork setup for my v twin bike, hope to have it all done so I can have a all American built and powered v twin bike for trikefest. I was gonna do a crazy panel/lace 70's/80's street rod paint scheme but I see pj hart has a little hopped up atc70 thats been done that way, so back to the drawin board. When trikefest gets closer i'll know for sure, maybe you can bring me a pack of sabrett hot dogs i can pay you for, miss those dirty water dogs a lot lol another good vid

Where are you guys riding at, I'm on the West coast, in southern California. So we do a lot of dessert riding
When it said possible language warning, I thought preston would start swearing😅
Lol, not normally. But with the go-pro running... a lot of the guys don't realize they're being recorded. And a lot of it is muffled or mixed with other conversation, so it's not necessarily obvious. But I did capture a couple F-bombs while I was out there.
You know the pro wedge tires were advertised as mud and snow aside from the necessary horsepower to spin them... im curious to see if they are an advantage over the 300ex tires you have on
I have some but they need tubes. I have 4-Snows though, I could try them.
@ThisOldTrike it sounds like that mud just eats all the power you can give it but if you can keep 4 snows spinning it'll dig till it hits something hard enough to get going again it would be interesting to compare, and 4 snows expand so a 22 11 8 could grow to a 25
the bolt in the middle has to be loose its tightend to keep in place
I don't believe that is true. It doesn't make contact with the carrier when it is screwed in. There is a tab on the carrier that, as you rotate the carrier, it eventually contacts that bolt inside the swingarm, and stops the carrier from rotating back around and loosening the chain/moving the axle forward. The only thing keeping the carrier in place are those two allen head bolts that I loosened.
Great video bud, can't wait for part two
Thanks! Most of the actual riding will be in that one.
Can't wait for part 2, going to be great
Hopefully tonight!
5:44 your doing it wrong, first off flip flops, second just get out the sledge hammer and wood chisel like every other 350x owner 😂😂
lol, YES! You are 100% right! I do definitely need to get in there and lube up the carrier a bit. That chain has 2 snirt runs on it. 2 Trike Fests on it... It's probably due to be replaced. Plus I think I'm running a 38 tooth sprocket back there, so there's going to being more slack than stock anyway.
Being the worlds foremost Honda collector, I assume the answer is no, but if a mint Yamaha trike for a cheap price was in your area. Would you even consider it?
I'm not sure that I have that title that you've mentioned, but I appreciate you saying that. But, to answer your question, I have owned 2 Tri-Z's back in 2020. And an 86 Tecate. I bought them as part of a package deal. Just for the fun of it, I sold off all three without riding any of them. Just wanted to stay pure. lol.
i hope thats a 86 the 85s dont have a great oil pump and they dont get the oil they need from long uphills and wheelies
How long of a wheelie do you think I'd have to do on my 85 350X in this video to starve the top end of oil and damage the cam and rockers?
@@ThisOldTrike id imagine 5 minutes lol i watched this one channel doing a review on it and they made it seem worse then it is
@@kollinspencer847 That's what I'm figuring. My front tire isn't up off the ground long enough to cause an issue. I'm not that good!!
@@ThisOldTrike im still looking for a 350x. whats the top speed like?
I forget. Maybe 72? I test it here. ruclips.net/video/l7oyrACnuUg/видео.html
Don't get me wrong. I'm just trying to pass on info that I know.
Speaking from experience, you should have some toilet paper. Never know when you gotta dig a hole and fill it.
That's a smart idea right there! I'm usually carrying some paper towels... so that could work too. TP is definitely a good idea though!
