Actually Kuai Liang defeated and killed Scorpion during Mortal Kombat Armageddon, this is confirmed in the opening cutscene in MK9.

Think of it like this in the original timeline in deadly alliance sub zero found the dragon medallion which the creators confirmed made him one of the strongest fighters in the game,
He’s always been a strong character defeating cyrax and sektor multiple times and named as one of earth realms champions from the get go.
Sub zero is a strong character, same as scorpion same as noob.

Personally kuai and bi Han are both my favourite characters.
One thing we can both agree on is
NRS have ruined a lot of the story with their retcons and constant shift in characters strengths, I hope this will change in future games

However the mantle of sub zero being passed down generation to generation was first explored in MK deception when shujinko trains with an ancestor of Bi Han and Kuai Liang who is also called sub zero.
The whole sub zero and scorpion partnership while you’re right in some way it shouldn’t happen but in terms of discovering Quan chi was behind the murder of his family it felt some what right
in some cases I think for the majority of fans(including myself) welcomed this considering they’ve had hate for each other since 1992 lol
But to say kuai had no story development before NRS is silly.
He had one of the best arcs in the og timeline.
He participated in the second tournament and stood out among the fighters to the point where people realised he weren’t the same person as his brother.
He had a great arc in Mk3 escaping the lin kuei cyber forces and and defeating cyrax and sector and regaining the humanity in his cyber transformed companion smoke
He then fought scorpion in mk4 and helped him realise the whole feud was indeed Quan chi’s fault
From here he defeated sector again became the grandmaster of the Lin kuai obtained the dragon medallion making him one of the strongest characters and then began working on restoring his brothers soul along the way helping kenshi defeat the tarkatan warriors led by Baraka in outworld
Unfortunately the franchise was from here rebooted and we do not know if he was successful or not in doing so.
I agree 100% they have butchered Bi Han and I have anger towards this too however put the blame on NRS not kuai liang he’s a great sub zero dude, I hope the next game focuses and kuai saving bi Han and gives scorpion his own story separate from this
However, it seems we are most likely getting another reboot lol

In mk9 kuai liang keeps on calling bi han brother but why in mk11 bi han keeps calling kuai liang brother after he said we are not brother in mk9 maybe he missed him

There's a more interesting question: where is the current Noob Saibot?
Although the MK11 one confirms Scorpion's story, this Noob Saibot cannot be the current one. Why? Sareena, MKX. Bi-Han saved her offscreen in the MKX storyline. The revenant Kitana even claims that he knows compassion! Are these actions to be expected from the MK11 Noob Saibot? Absolutely not.

Bi-han saved her before the events of the tournament, in Mortal Kombat Mythologies.
