Wow, the variety of colors and patterns is fantastic! It was great to see the rocks being found and then cleaned up and tumbled. They came out beautifully! Thank you for showing us the whole process. Great video!
@@NWRockExplorer most rocks are if you know what kind of effects they could have on your water. For instance if you have snails or invertebrates like shrimp copper is deadly to them. Therefore no rocks with copper in those tanks. Calcium can lower the pH of water. In my case, that would be a good thing because my water is extremely hard and mineralized. Could I show you some pictures of expensive rock to see if you could identify what it really is?
@@Lisa.Sparkman Makes sense!! I honestly haven't looked into it too much but it would be cool to get into making aquarium gravel and decorations!! If you'd like to send me a pic of that rock you probably could do it through my Facebook page or through nwrockexplorer@gmail.com I'll give it my best guess anyhow🙂
It really is!! I feel like there is a lot more to be found up there!! hopefully next summer I'll be able to spend some more time to explore the area more thoroughly🙂
New subscriber from southwestern Montana in the states. I'm really enjoying your videos. I didn't know that rhyolite would polish up so beautifully! Very pretty patterns in the rhyolite you tumbled. I'm very impressed! I have a double 3# tumbler and just got a 15# tumbler for Christmas. I haven't seen rhyolite like that around here but I'm going to start paying more attention now. I love the display piece with the botryoidal on it, so cool! Thanks for sharing!✌🤠
Awesome!! Rhyolite is definitely one of my favorites, it can hold all kinds of gems and can be a gem itself if the conditions are right!! I cant wait to get back to this spot this year, maybe I'll even be able to bring my new trailer out there!!
Nice variety of material there 👍 , thanks for sharing ! .. I wonder if using a small water spray bottle might be of help in "prevaluating" in the field ? .. also , some of the pieces you showed looked like they might undercut in the tumbler , have you ever encountered that problem with this type of rock ?
Thanks!! A spray bottle would have probably helped a lot, I have used them in the past but every time they seem to get plugged up haha. there is a bit of undercutting in some of this material, this batch was mostly just to see which varieties held up the best😁
It does!! I also have a few new rhyolites I want to try tumbling, so much variety in that stuff!! I'll need to find a new company to get grit from now that lortone is out of business though🤔
For sure!! Rhyolite is an awesome material to start with, just make sure it feels nice and hard like a jasper and it'll polish beautifully!! It comes in many forms and many colors which makes it one of my favorites to play with!!
I really like the ones with the star patterns too!! The ones I find closer to home have a green matrix and red stars and look super cool, kind of like flowers!!
It is impressive how a small tumbler, grit, and time can turn jagged shards into such beautiful stone. Looking forward to the Trillium trailer makeover and next season's prospecting!
Isn't it!! I can't wait to start processing the rest of the material I collected this trip!! I think this week I'll order most of what I need to get working on the wiring for the trailer. Hopefully I'll get it all figured out so I can get to work😃
After doing some exploring in the burns/francois lake this summer I've really started to love rhyolite and the variety of colours and patterns it can have! Also how it's so easy to cut, cab or tumble.
Rhyolite rocks! great colors and patterns. nice...

I just love the variety that rhyolite comes in!! It is a perfect lapidary material in my opinion and is super abundant!! Thanks for watching!!😁
Love that stuff ☺️ it would even look good in an aquarium 😉
It would!! I'm not too sure which rocks are safe for aquariums though, I'd feel safe with agates and jaspers though😃

Oh my goodness how gorgeous they all look! I would love to be able to get out and find some beautiful rocks like that just to tumble. Loved the video!
Thanks!! I still have lots of exploring to do in this spot, the rhyolite is quite amazing and I'd love to see if I can find some more blue agate!!😃

Wasn’t expecting the Rhyolite to tumble so nicely thanks for sharing before and after.
The more silica it contains the better polish you will get, some can even be translucent there is so much silica in it!!😃
