Looks good, one thing that may be worth mentioning if possible for a future update, as AP .exe files create a Temp folder for their .msi files which essentially creates an additional unnecessary amount of file space to take up on your pc, if the coding can somehow locate these said Temp folders and remove after installation!
I bought the 158 today and it spawns me in the cab and nothing wont work apart from the horn and when I go to the outside camera the train is invisible will this fix that problem
Great idea, however, I downloaded with windows defender switched on (it makes me nervous switching it off) and the .exe has been quarantined as a trojan?, im not savvy on this side of things but is this normal oooor?
A Trojan is a type of virus but this doesn’t contain one so for some reason it is flagging as a false positive. AV software usually does this to any exe’s created by small devs like me who cannot pay for them to white list it. You should be able to remove it from quarantine and exclude it from future scans.
Im glad of the effort but it makes no sense for AP not to put in the effort themselves and this download gives them a reason to not make an official one.
AP have already stated many reasons why they won’t make their own official one. The main one being it would stop any new products being released for many months as they’d be focusing on developing this. Richard from AP discussed this on a recent ATS stream.
@@ChiefJack just depends on their priorities if they wanna focus on quantity of packs released or the quality of their general services, unfortunately AP seem to tend towards the former. Merry Christmas anyways, and thanks for your efforts on this!
@@railquest I believe AP said that the amount of time and effort required isn’t worth it financially as they won’t make any money from an auto updater tool, so they’d rather focus on new products. And at the end of the day, the majority of customers would prefer new products rather than have a large gap in products due to the development of a tool like this. They also said they see the updates as non essential for the functionality of the product (in most cases), so unless people are really desperate to update a pack, they expect most will just update them whenever they reinstall TS. Overall a multitude of reasons why it’s not viable for AP to do themselves currently, hence why I’ve produced one. Hope you enjoy and merry Christmas too!
As useful as this tool is, it is worth stating the following (from my perspective). Yes I can have all my tens of AP products up to date, but at what cost? This programme not only asks for your username and password for a site which has the ability to store payment details, but then when the .exe runs, it then accesses the website for you, using the details you have given, and takes over your computer (or at least certain aspects of it). In every conceivable way, I will be steering clear of this, and in my mind this just goes to show how easy it can be to hack computers and steal personal information should users simply want to 'save time'. How on earth am I to know my details will not be used fraudulently? Had this been a simpler programme with no need for running executables and giving out my personal details to an .exe (which is a huge NO in any respect), I would gladly get this.
Hi Leo. There is a pdf I made here that shows the sections of code that handle your account details: drive.google.com/file/d/1kZ2jUMMKd-tipyV0O18rK_IkPTtmPMQh/view?fbclid=IwAR1U9RRuzETMvFNclxtHjxqJ5XbUbhCwg3cXKaUKEYkrsOP5kq5U2L_Jis8. As you can see, once the program has logged into your AP account, the details aren't used again or stored anywhere. Furthermore, the program only opens a Chrome window and that's all it can control. This is using a Python library called Selenium. The program cannot access your payment details - if it did you'd see it happen in the Chrome window. At the end of the day it is down to you what you choose to do and I respect that decision.

Chief Jack you are a saver for making this
Thanks Jack, this looks like an excellent tool & time saver.
Good video like and subscribed from Czech Republic 🙂👍👍👍👍 and Happy christmas
Best wishes and thank you!

That’s a good idea - I’ll investigate adding that soon!
Does this only work if your railworks is on the C drive ? - Ive just updated all my collection but had zero effect - my railworks is on the D drive
That's what I wonder. There must be a way to change the install path, since I am sure some users of the sim have the program on a different drive.
need one for 'Just Trains' too

That's not its intended purpose really, its intended to update your ap pack. It may fix it indirectly but that's not what its designed to do.
@@TrainSim_TV I've got ts 2022 so will I have to run the 158/159 as administrator
@@TrainSim_TV I've sorted it it's ok now thanks I will bare that updater in mind
Where can i find the link to down load the product .
