The baby snakeheads will change color as they get older. The maintain their red color till juvenile stage, then start change to a black/greenish/bluish, purplish color. Also, the Red Arowana is not endangered, but the Malaysian Golden Arowana is endangered in the wild, we are mass producing them in farms, but due to habitat loss and also massive collection from the wild during early times had a massive impact and they’ve been struggling to get the population back up. We are also releasing farm raised babies back into the lake, but it’s just not as successful as we would want it to be.
OMG!!!! Those knifefish are beautiful!!!! The red cheek barbs were something I have never seen. I can’t wait for the fish shopping video. It’s too bad about the red snakeheads but, it is understandable if you watch any fishing videos from Florida. I bet the boys will be glad to see daddy and uncle Keith when you get home. I miss seeing them my self!
That cichlid is a Vieja fenestrata marble. It seems quite similar to one i have. keep your fantastic work because you guys are a world class reference! Abraços de Portugal
Hey, in Indonesia, the fish that you see as beautiful with red cheeks is usually called "red-cheeked wader". It is very abundant here, usually found in rivers with clear water, and what you call "steven sunai" is a common type of wader here. If you want a lot, you can only get it in Indonesia, maybe it's very cheap because in Indonesia it has no price, it is equivalent to river Molly fish for predator feed.
Awesome Video, took me back, I remember when you could pick up a red-line snakehead legally in your LFS. I know I had bought a juvie and my Uncle had subadult around 2 feet his was what inspired me to pick up mine.
I had a red snake head when I was a kid when I had it grow to about n 21/2 ft it was beautiful that red but I like the smaller one I feel like the smaller ones have more flowing fins then the bigger snakehead
Firstly Asia needs to push for CITIES to remove the farm bred F2 (3rd generation from the wild) Asian Arowana from CITIES appendix 1. They should be moved to appendix 2. Secondly who is going to release a $2K fish into the Wild? That would never happen, never mind releasing enough of them even into the same area to form a viable breeding population. The US fisheries department could even tax the importation and make money off of it. Say $500 per fish, this would further discourage too many people from wanting them, apart from serious hobbyists, and further prevent people releasing fishes into the Wild, and still further reduce the demand on importation, as this is one of the concerns from Asia re the US markets (they couldnt keep up with the demand) Maybe this should be suggested. To me it's the only way and better than nothing!
Marbled fenestratus (Vieja strain) is the cichlid you guys were unsure of. They come in all sorts of patterns with varying blue, reddish brown and white coloration. Much like an OB (orange blotched) gene in African cichlids.
Did i just hear you say, small species of groonch get fish for small set up??😅😅 i want it! That are channa micropeltes, juveniles. They turn striped with black. I had a pair of those.

Anyone knows why fly river turtles which are actually endangered are allow to be sold in the US but not Asian arowanas are as common as goldfish in most of asia.
Not positive but I believe the turtles have to be individually tracked from permits from captive breeding. Check it out to verify. And the fish are sometimes released and take over native fish. Better to google it.
You guys came to South East Asia in the hottest month of the year. 😂😂 Not only that, there is a heat wave this year. The weather is extremely hot right now, it's unbearable even the local people of South East Asia. 🥵🥵🥵 (I am from Malaysia though)
