  • I asked AI Artificial Intelligence to give me 44 reasons why NOT to buy an Electric Car and after owning an Porsche Taycan EV myself for almost 3 Years I can honestly say I agree with almost every one of them.
    I have long tried to educate the public about Electric Cars and share my ownership experience with them and the fact that I believe they are not the future and it is in your best interest NOT to purchase an EV.
    All car dealerships now have a target to meet of how many EVs they have to sell and will deter you and talk you out of purchasing a petrol or diesel car.
    PLEASE SHARE THIS on FACEBOOK, TWITTER X and all social media.
    PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO THIS CHANNEL THROUGH THIS VIDEO as this pushes it out to other people on RUclips and helps the algorithms! WE NEED TO EDUCATE PEOPLE ABOUT ELECTRIC CARS and rEVeal the truth from someone who ACTUALLY OWNS one!

    In the US some dealerships in more rural areas (like 75 % of the country) refuse to stock an EV due to not wanting to invest in the special equipment and training for servicing an EV. So if you are travelling in those areas and have a problem be prepared for a long tow.

    Great Video as always Lee!!
    For every car that's on the road to be an EV You would need at least 50% of parking spaces everywhere, that is absolutely everywhere would have to contain a charger within the parking space itself. This is never going to happen the grid simply could not take it. Not only that but you would find the services would be clogged up with people waiting for the charge to happen. One more thing to remember is if and that's a big if! EVs started to outnumber conventional cars, You would have to pay a full road tax (the government has got to get it's revenue somehow.) You have to see this for what it is, a great idea for 30 or so percent of the country to nip down the shops or go see aunty Ethel and charge up on the drive, but not for serious motoring that's too stressful. Still 💓 THIS CHANNEL

    Keep up the good work about ev’s . I operate on the principle that if the government want you to do something, it usually ends up with it being not for your benefit,if they were chargeable in say 10 minutes max,then I’d might be interested, until then I’ll stick with petrol or diesel,

    Lee I am going to give you one reason to not trust the UK government bureaucracy: "Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office". The level of scandal is off the chart! People's livelihoods and lives completely ruined. The Post Office was the total villain in cahoots with the IT system it shoved down the throats of subpostmasters and subpostmistresses. If it wasn't for two MP's and two forensic accountants that did not buy The Post Office attempts to sweep the whole mess under the rug, justice would not have prevailed, although few subpostmasters and mistresses have yet to receive any compensation after nearly twenty years of sweeping scandal and subsequent victories in the courts.

    I only got my EV a few weeks ago, we don't do a lot of long trips so it's ideal for me. Yesterday I did a drive from Manchester to London, nightmare. Used ionity charger point, bought the passport, went to first charger, plug in used the app to connect, failed twice, x2 £40 came out if my bank, had to use RF card, so did not get my discount. The same thing happened again on drive home. Phone ionity, oh, we are having issues with App!!!. Also, like you said , have to wait to get onto a charger, which is stupid, 30 mins for me at one. So after yesterday's experience, EV,s are not the future , at least until the infrastructure is a lot better !!

    And finally
    Certainly, here are 44 reasons why someone might choose to buy an internal combustion engine (ICE) car:
    1. Availability of a wide range of models and options to suit individual preferences and needs.
    2. Established infrastructure of gas stations for convenient refueling.
    3. Lower initial purchase cost compared to many electric vehicles (EVs).
    4. Familiarity with traditional engine technology and maintenance procedures.

      Just to take 1, no 6, have you driven an EV?

    • @stephenrussell6074
      @stephenrussell6074 Месяц назад

      @@jsanders100 I have driven both PHEV and similarly performing petrol and diesel sports cars both high power and lightweight. The EVs and PHEVs I have driven have an instant response although I have driven a twin turbo six cylinder with a similar torque response between 1300 -5500 rpm but not close outside of those. Most cars (petrol) only compete on torque between 2000-4500 rpm (diesel) 1500-3000 rpm. The best car for British roads is a lightweight 150-200 bhp sports car, preferably two seater. Any more than that and there capacity is so far above the speed limit on the straighter bits and their handing unsafe at those speeds on the corners. The lower powered light car can be nicely driven to its limits while retaining your license. The smaller bodies give you more space to drive. However mostly people drive grossly overpowered ICE cars too big and too heavy for the road. As to road wear as long as the tyres are sized for the weight of the vehicle then their point load is determined by the footprint to weight ratio.

    I would like to politely point out that in the UK or the world generates no-where near enough electricity to sustain EV's. Our spare capacity in winter is just 4% down from 15% in 2011. 4% =3.0 gigawatt approx equals 420,000 Ev's on home chargers at 7kw. There are 35 million cars in the uk plus vans and buses and more connections are being made to the grid. one EV on a 150K/w charger could support 30 houses at peak and 150 off peak!!

    • @Chrisamic
      @Chrisamic Месяц назад

      Finland is the only country on the planet that has enough clean energy right now to justify converting light transport to EVs. They've been building hydro plants for seventy years. The UK would need five times more power generation capability than it has now. I worked out (and previously posted) that if the UK starts building nuclear power plants (preferably safe thorium salt reactors) right now they might achieve that in about 100 years. That was based on three large plants every ten years, which is fairly optimistic to be honest, especially since large thorium salt reactors are still in research and development.

    The UK government raises a huge amount from taxing petrol and diesel. Once that is removed from their income, the government will split this lost revenue over all the EVs and the cost to run will rise (perhaps even above ICEs). They won't be bragging then.

    Actually I have often wondered - is there any danger from sitting inside an EV as you must be exposed toa lot of electromagnetic fields as you are even living inside ones home?

    • @Chrisamic
      @Chrisamic Месяц назад

      No. There is zero scientific evidence that electromagnetic fields like this have any effect on the human body. There's plenty of conspiracy theories that get a run every few years, but that's all they are. There's plenty of other things we *should* be worried about this is not one of them.

      Just take my tin foil hat off… “Radio-frequency electromagnetic fields, similar to extremely low frequency and medium frequency, are classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer in the group 2B, indicating they are possibly carcinogenic environmental factors. This aspect of driver EMF (electromagnetic field) exposure warrants attention due to its levels, which are at least comparable to office exposure. In offices where wireless radio communication facilities are in use, there is daily, long-lasting exposure, potentially significantly contributing to the total chronic exposure of drivers. This exposure combines with other components of lower frequencies, covering exposure to static, low-frequency, and radiofrequency fields."

    It seems hard to believe that rental companies were dumb enough to buy fleets of EVs before investigating the pros and cons of EV ownership. The hard truth about EVs caused rental firms to drop their EVs faster than a stone in the ocean for the same reasons regular people should avoid them in the first place. Even if I'm not on vacation, I still don't want to spend half a day looking for a functioning charger and the other half waiting for the charge to complete ... IF the charger deigned to speak to my car. EVs ... too much trouble, not enough reward.

    Here is one just for Macmaster
    While I can't condone locking up anyone based on their choice of vehicle, here are some light-hearted reasons one might humorously suggest for "locking up" EV drivers:
    1. They're charged up about their cars, but sometimes they need a timeout to cool down.
    2. To prevent them from sneaking away silently without anyone noticing.
    3. Their constant talk about kilowatt-hours and regenerative braking might warrant some time in "electric" solitary confinement.
    4. They're always plugged in and need a break from their "power trips."
    5. They keep making "shocking" puns, and it's time for a pun-ishment.
    6. They're charged with "battery"ing people with facts about EVs.
    7. It's a precautionary measure to protect them from running out of battery and getting stranded.
    8. To give other drivers a break from hearing about how "electric" their cars are.
    9. They need a timeout to reflect on their "current" driving habits.
    10. It's a form of "jolt therapy" for their obsession with electric vehicles.

    Answering your question. I live in South Africa and our electricity produces 708g CO2/kWh. The world should beg us not to adopt EV's
    Re charge at home. A home charger is 85% efficient Tesla are at 93%. 15% of your home charge ends up "missing". Imagine missing out 15% of the petrol you've paid for. No one factor's that into the car's efficiency!
    Also.... My housemate had a heart attack a week ago and I raced him to the local hospital in my 1992 ICE. I'd hate to deal with a real emergency with low charge...

Those are some pretty valid reasons not to purchase.. and if you do happen to choose to buy one then good for you, best of luck to you out there. I think it is great some people can make them work for them in certain places like congested urban areas with shorter commutes AND if you are up for doing the long haul trips in your E v and able to handle the excess work and time.. then more power to you! ⚡
    I personally am not a fan of them and completely agree that we should be able to choose whatever options suits each of us individually the best.
