Difficult rope setup

Setting your rope can be straight forward or a real pain. Choosing the best spot to put your rope is the name of the game. In a wide spreading tree like this redwood, getting the throw bag in a good spot is tough.

I'm about to propose an arborist standard-practice heresy. Have you considered getting into the lower branches and then free climbing, wearing a saddle and long flipline, if needed. You are 71, I am 61. I still do this occasionally when I deem it safe, to save time and frustration.

I throw into low branches all day to get up into a canopy, especially evergreens. Some old topped maples in someone's yard ETC. And many of my colleagues do to. Compared to getting a throw ball into such a tight canopy. Its just advancing your climb line, pretty sure its standard practice, i could be wrong though (east coast usa)
