YOU Without Joe’s Narration | Season 2 | Netflix
/ netflix
Meet Will Bettelheim. He’s not your regular Joe. He’s new to LA and has sworn off love. But love, like murder, has a way of tracking you down. Развлечения
i never realized he just stares at people while he's narrating
Hahahah
Legit
Exactlyyyyy
Creepy
Even though he kills people, I feel like his silence here made him seem more of a psycho
Without Joe's voice, all episodes feel like they're high AF.
Kapil Singh yeah joe just seems stoned
True 🤣
Kapil Singh, oh shiiit, LOL, he does seem high! I now love this show even more.
exactly
Without his narration I think he could do to being a psychopath ..
This actually makes me see the show in a different light, realising that joe must really come off so weird and slow to the rest of the characters lol
It's possible that from the shows narrative because we are always seeing things from Joe's perspective that the time it takes him to reply seems longer that it actually is because we often just see Joe's face when he's thinking not the other person waiting
Really? This does?
Are you people even watching the show?
But no one has complained about that about him before

More like a 19th century Victorian era type of man
"I shall win her heart and defeat the foes who stand in the way of our love"
Michael Drew
That type of man is still delusional and controlling. Pursuing someone regardless of their wishes or informed consent is creepy no matter the era you’re in.
Joe: murders people
Everyone: he's so hot
Joe: awkward silences
Everyone: this dudes a creep
Best one ahaha
😂😂😂
Pretty sure being creepy has always been part of the character, he does stalk and murder people
He still hot
So true!
Without the voiceover it's SO MUCH CLEARER what a creep he is, lmao. How don't women run screaming in the other direction with him gaping at them like that???
I never really realized this until I watched this video lol IF it weren't for the voice overs, I wouldn't understand why the girls fall for him 😆
coz he is HOT
Coz it's Penn badgley
Because he's attractive. It would be considered creepy if he was ugly
Coz he "listens"
This made me realize how good he is at expressing himself through expression and body language

Wow this is actually true

suddenly realising that Penn Badgley had next to no lines to memorise, and was acting with his expressions and body language all this while.
You summed it better.
xin wei tan and the voiceover is also another form of acting he aced!
@@apal4u for sure! it's funny to think how he had to process these thoughts with/without looking at what was actually happening in each scene. i wonder if they did the voiceovers before or after they filmed every scene?
@@ibelieveinxinwei I think before they filmed the episode because they all have this table read so maybe.
Maybe he did memorize the lines and thought em out in his head to be able to get the expressions on point
netflix memes themselves before they can be memed, 11/10
You could always songify Joe's inner monolog though. Lol
It would be hilarious if a character says to him something like: « You don’t talk too much ».
Forty actually told him that it's creepy when he gets silent like that 😂
Habiba Amr Can’t believe that i missed that part lmao
Something like “you don’t talk much...do you?”
Ghastxm omg that’s from up. “you don’t talk to much.. do you? i like you!”
Even love said '' is that your speechless'' 😅
I can’t believe anyone can fall for his manipulation when he zones out like that
I think this is shot like this to show how he thinks in slow motion as style. Obviously the intet is in real time
To be fair, they have to slow his thoughts down in order for the viewer to hear and understand him. In real life, his "narration" could be like a few milliseconds of thought. The awkward pauses are there to inform the audience
Lysets vokter I see what you saying too but then in moments when he doesn’t respond verbally at all or eats something delicious and make no noise is red signs to me
@@sk8brder40 exactly that's what i said
Lysets vokter but doesn't forty mentions that he zones out during his thoughts 😂
This makes me respect his and his co-actor's acting even more. Because all he is doing during the scene is making weird faces and his co actors are just playing off his face!!
Actually Joe's double reads out everything while they're acting so it isn't super weird, but still mad respect for their good acting
Pretty sure his co-actors know what's going on from the script. They have that, not only his face, to read
In fact, if the others hear everything, then props to them to pretending like they don't!
And even the way he narrates !!
It’s weird to think that he’s probably seen as super quiet and shy, but we never see him that way since we have unlimited access to his thoughts
nice knowledge
How did they NOT know he was a “serial killer”
Because being weird doesnt mean your a killer. ( through in this case it was)
Ooof.
ikkk like wtf 😂
I bet Dexter would know if they ever did crossover and put Joe on the table for all the murders 😆

not distracting but contextualizing
Everything becomes so awkward and CREEPY without his narration.

Worse without
@@lewis99ish I mean, it's worse television. But being a silent creep isn't as bad as being the delusional, plotting filth Joe truly is.
I couldn't agree more, fellow EXO-L
HAHAHAHHAA NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT LIKE THAT 😂😂😂😂
You realise how creepy Joe really is without the Voice overs. His voice over is the only thing that humanizes him. We can't hear his defense.
Bingo..... 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
We are watching the whole show from his biased point of view
ding dong kind of like the book lolita how it’s from Humberts point of view and we see his justification and tragic backstory but he's doing awful abusive things.
micheal stephanie
You didn’t realise how incredibly creepy he was before? The justifications and delusional thinking he displays in his inner monologue are the creepiest part of it all, because they show the audience how divorced he is from reality, and how little respect he has for nearly everyone he meets.
@@haggisa I get your point of V.O makes it creepier. The idea that a person can defend any action no matter how gruesome.
However, having no V.O makes it creepier because we already know what he is thinking. Now we know what everyone else in the world of the show is seeing. The long silences combined with the facial expressions. It's creepier.
This video shows how much of an introvert Joe's character is. He's in his head studying people and situations more often than not
*This just goes to show you how much damn WORK Penn Badgley actually does in each scene.*
The fact that’ it’s actually like this while they’re acting LMAOOOOOOOO
theres actually a guy that plays joe's double that reads the narration so they can react to it.. but still super funny

@@stanleyshady9465 yes usually that's the case.
@Jane Allison it's not that funny . Did you read ^ someones reading while they stare
I didn’t realize how silent he was and how awkward that must be.
This makes sense. Since in his flashbacks as a kid he's usually silent and only speaks a couple of words.
in other words, Joe is LITERALLY the ‘quiet kid’ at school......
that means that he is me 😭😭😭😭
Me lmao but im a gamer
@@purplekitkatemily Me too but still a quiet one regardless.
Forty was right. The silence IS really creepy 🙃
Kind of agree with you because some time its which is really good
it would'nt be like this in real life, they had to take break everytime he speaks so we could hear HIS THOUGHTS and what HE SAYS,
em obviously 😂 I'm well aware of that
@@Fbitypeshit True but Forty did comment on it being creepy so he obviously experienced it. I kind of loved how Season 2 was an opportunity for the show to adress the comments people made on Season 1. For instance when Joe first spots Love he starts going into her character and immediatley is like: "Wait shit No, I'm not doing this anymore." Also when he's peeping on Love's house he sees that she actually has curtains XD
I think peach mentioned it too. I remember someone in s1 making a comment about it lol
Put a "without Joe's narration" as a option on the entire series and I'll watch it again just to get even more creeped out.
Or watch the next season that way first and THEN with the narration and see if how you feel at the end of the season is the same.
Because I'd definitely do that.
Yessss!!! Please do, Netflix!!
precious west heck yeah lol
precious west yes
Please do
This just made me realize why the quietest people are usually the scariest.
Damn, another concern because of Shows like Dexter and this one lol, "Are people thinking I'm a potential serial assassin because I'm quiet"
No, not all quiet people are planning your murder in their heads.
🙄 Here we go again, the stereotyping that quiet weird people are all terrifying monsters. The majority of the time it’s the ordinary seeming people who are the real monsters. Ted Bundy was lovely to everyone around him.
no... most of them just have social anxiety
draakjuhnl Like me ahaha. 😂
It’s like his mission is to make everyone else around him feel self-conscious by just staring hard and staying silent in response to everything. 😂
Let's be honest, the show isn't complete without Joe's narration.

Yim Ying Lam best comment ever! Hahahaha

I've always noticed that time is stretched during many of his voiceovers. He's probably a fairly fast thinker and many of his thoughts may be more instinctive than so specifically head-monologued. If his thoughts were always spoken as fast as they flow through his mind, we wouldnt be able to keep up.
It's all drawn out for dramatic effect. It's similar to the way a video game suspends time to let you make a decision.
This just shows how much of an introvert Joe is lol
This is why I love Netflix. They can even criticise their own show
IceCola and own it which would make it theirs
@IceCola the second season was a Netflix original tho.

Now I understand why peach was so weirded and judgmental about him lol
LITERALLY OMGGGG
It is funny how unsubtly creepy he is in general and only his internal narration actually changes that. However, his thoughts were so funny that they create the most convincing illusion that Joe is a romantic person.
Wow, now I actually GET why many of these characters find Joe attractive: without the voiceover, he appears shy and quiet in a world where many men just can’t stop talking about themselves.

@Jasper82 you can see it at 1:13
It basically does, because people think much faster than they speak

its actually amazing that penn badgley manages to do this so well... I'm guessing theirs a countdown next to the camera so he knows but it is done so perfectly to make the show not awkward at all!
usually for narration moments in tv and movies someone off screen is shouting the lines just to allow the actors to show reactions on their faces and leave adequate time for the voice over to be added in post!
@@Netflix thats actually a lot more clever than original thought, thanks!
I know in the Handmaids Tale (sorry, Netflix but I'm talking 'bout Hulu now) Elizabeth Moss memorizes her narrations and says them in her head.
@@Netflix Wow that's cool! I wonder how they keep that person's voice from interfering with the audio at all. I understand most shows use shotgun mics for dialogue and do a lot of the other sounds in post, but it's still weird to think about someone shouting lines without it interfering with the final product.
@@elbuhdai605 Most mics have a very short area of effect, as in the distance and level of audio they're picking up. Everything outside of that range can be filtered (mostly)
