- Welcome to another knit and chat where Anna shares her haul of goodies from visiting the Australian Sheep and Wool Show in Bendigo a few weeks ago.
This podcast was recorded on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. The Australian Sheep and Wool Show in Bendigo takes place on the lands of the Dja Dja Waurrung people of the Kulin nation. Sovereignty of these lands has never been ceded. It always was and always will be Aboriginal land. We pay our respects to their elders past, present, and emerging and to any Aboriginal people that may be watching this video.

Thank you ladies! Was a bit late getting to watch this episode, but enjoyed it very much. I have decided I will have to brave the cold and visit Bendigo next year. Was super inspired by all the lovely goodies, and was very excited to see a Shetland lace shawl in the cabinet during some of the footage you showed! Definitely my kind of knitting … 😊 Look forward to your next episode - hugs from the Top End … 🥰🌴🌴🌴
Thanks for watching Jeni! I definitely wish I had taken a bit more time to look through the competition entries - so much potential inspiration!!
Great podcast, you do well to knit and chat without making mistakes. The Bendigo Wool Show sounds interesting, blending agricultural and craft things.
Thanks for watching!! Sometimes it's hard to knit and chat so usually I pick a simple project to work on.
Hey Anna and Pia - your socks are looking great Anna. So lovely catching up with you again - so good to hear about Bendigo ❤
Thank you for watching Kath, and now I am off to watch your episode, while knitting a bit more of my Brisbane socks.
@@lavendercottagefibrearts aw thanks ☺️
It was so fun to briefly meet you at Bendigo Anna! Love your acquisitions, those Maximoo yarns look stunning together! I got the earring version of the stitch markers and completely forgot to share them in my Bendigo recap, oops!
@@FibreBound the earrings were so cute as well. My friend bought a pair from MiraWitch and also one of the eleventy one windmills skein earrings.
Great episode ladies, thanks for sharing about Bendigo Anna. Also, I love making two at a time socks... but I've always been to scared to do a heel flap and gusset TAAT!! You've inspired me to give that a go for my next pair of socks!
Thanks Madeleine! I think with the heel flap and gusset there is a few ways of doing it TAAT but my preference is to knit the entire heel flap, heel turn and pick up gusset stitches on one sock, and then do the second sock. It does mean I pick up the gusset stitches slightly differently after finishing the heel turn. instead of then knitting across the heel turn, I pick up the gusset stitches on the right side of the heel flap, then knit across heel turn, then pick up stitches along the left side of the heel flap. because I used a CC for my heel, my MC is still attached at the beginning of where I want to pick up my gusset stitches so picking them up that way just means I don't have to cut my MC.
@@lavendercottagefibrearts Ohhh that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for explaining I think I can I defs can give that a go!
Yes, currently we have 4.6 sheep per person (down from 22 sheep per person in the 80s!). I am not aware of a yarn and sheep combo show; I believe those are mainly separate things here
oh wow has the sheep industry declined since the 80s or just the human population has dramatically increased? have you been to any NZ yarn shows?
@@lavendercottagefibrearts A bit of both, probably more the sheep than the people though! We've had a lot of urbanisation as well. I've been to the Auckland Wool Fest which was lots of fun!
Hahaha - you don’t really want a goat! They eat everything, so you wouldn’t have any garden left!
Good to know lol. I imagine you are speaking from experience!
