Lindsey Buckingham lifted the talent level of that band exponentially. And yes, he brought an equal amount of baggage. BUT, w/o him, they never make the absurd amount of money, or get the insane amount of fame w/o him. His talent was transcendent. And the band knew it.
When he left/got kicked out, they had to replace him with multiple guitar players to cover what he did all on his own.
I had to laugh at that myself, because they weren't just 2 replacements, but 2 top shelf major name guitarists.
Mike Campbell and Neil Finn.
Lindsey Buckingham is one of the most unique and talented guitarists EVER! He was completely self taught and his style is completely his own and they have had to use more than one person in to replace him when he was either kicked out of or left the group of his own free will. It just doesn't sound the same without him and that doesn't even bring into account his great vocal talents.
Lindsey is one of my all-time favorite musicians. He's unbelievably talented. I think that he's not as recognized as he deserves for a couple of reasons. First, his career was largely in Fleetwood Mac, meaning he shared the spotlight with 4 other insanely gifted musicians. Second, he's really idiosyncratic. Much of his solo stuff just isn't going to find mass popularity.
One area that I think Lindsey shines is in creating great collaborative music. Christine McVie has said in an interview that Stevie Nicks would bring a song to her and ask for help in crafting it to a finished product. Christine said she just didn't know how help Stevie with that, but Lindsey did. Lindsey's fingerprints are all over Fleetwood Mac's songs, even the ones Christine or Stevie wrote. In that collaborative work, he helped craft music that is beloved. I do think he's probably hard to get along with, which is a shame, because he has really shone in working with other musicians.
I agree with all of that! It’s a shame, cause the guy is absolutely incredible!
Lindsey uses all the parts of his hands to play. And he doesn't uses a pick.
Because the guy is an absolute hero. Totally underrated.
Classical picking. It's how I was trying to learn and why it took so long to play anything, but god damn you have so much more control. I am awful thougj
God these lot were insanely good. Like crazy good. So insanely good. This song hes playing like 2 guitars and the bass on one
Also i dig the name.haha
My favorite song from a fantastic live show.
It is a stunning performance!
He is using g his thumb for the base and his 4 other fingers to drive the melody. He is a god!

Love Lindsey!! He and Mark Knopfler are my two favorite guitarists!! ❤
I just watched "The Dance," first time ever this past weekend. (I'd seen videos of a few songs here, and there)
Been to many concerts, and watched many concert videos.
I was blown away at what a perfect concert it was!! Completely balanced with 7 Lindsey, 7 Stevie, and 7 Christine songs, plus The Chain. 18 songs that were very familiar, and 4 that were new to me. Loved every one! The pacing, and song placement were brilliant!
Best concert video i've ever seen!! ❤
Fleetwood Mac--I'm So Afraid live !!! Also, LOVE the guitar in Dave Mason's cover of All Along The Watchtower, studio version
Do you mean Dave Matthews?
No, but like his too. Like Jeff Healey and Bryan Ferry's too. Dave Mason has a great solo and outro on Look At You Look At Me also...............Feel It!
@@markabusireactionsno, he means Dave Mason! Check it out
@@sfbayareagirl never heard of him, I’ll need to look it up!
@@markabusireactionshere’s a great live version from Midnight Special, a show back in the 70s. They always had amazing live rock performances. ruclips.net/video/-5VC23TeUWU/видео.htmlsi=uk9gj6_-ru0A-2fm (but you shd ch out “The Chain” link I sent first ; ) cheers
I heard from another musician that when they lost Lindsay Buckinghan the group had to hire 2 guitarist to replace him. He's a natural as was Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney, Elton John, etc.
Yeah I highly doubt they’re easily finding a single guitarist who could do the stuff he was doing in those songs, it’s nuts!
Your reaction to this performance of Lindsey's, putting aside Fleetwood Mac politics, is spot on, "that's f^*kin' nuts" 🤯awesome👏👏
Look for Christ sake he’s a kid he never claimed to know full band history,,, he actually made a point several times he didn’t,, anyway it’s not about that he’s doing a respect on the brilliance of the mighty talented lynsey Buckingham ,,, that’s what it’s all about,, lovely to see youth respect the genius he was,, and now fleetwood Mac is crap without him,, there loss,,, Rock on Lynsey ,,, nice review young man ♥️☘️☘️🇮🇪🇮🇪👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Aw thank you!! That meant a lot!
Great reaction! ❤
Aw thanks!!
Duuuuuuuuuude, Fleetwood Maaaaaac!
Little Lies and Say Your Will are my big favorites from them, but the majority of their songs are amazing!
Also, I'm glad I have survived that long trip. Almost literally, because our car malfunctioned twice and in the end we needed help to return home. X_x
Jesus, I’m glad you got home okay!!
If you want more fleetwood mac on the channel lemme know, cause I’m pretty sure I don’t know the song Say Your Will ☺️
@@markabusireactions Oh, you should give it a try. It's an amazing song!
When Lindsey left the band they had to get 2 guitarists to replace him.
Yeah my band did the same when I left. I tried to explain to them they needed a bass player but they refused to listen ☺️
You should react to silver springs, stevie nicks singing straight to lindsay Buckingham
I will add it to my list! I might bump it up the list and record it today while I have some time, actually!
From across the Pond, please react to "Bleed too Love Her" live with the Mac, last dance concert.
On the list it goes!
@@markabusireactions..Thank you brother, I think you'll dig the interaction of the Mac!
only one thing comes to mind when hearing this... Class dismissed.
If he was a woman .:,;.. he wouldn’t be considered a ‘prick’ ….. 😇
Explain please?
Another reactor (who is also a guitarist) broke down the layers of acoustics* here, and yes - Lindsey is _astonishingly_ good, despite simultaneously being a massive twat... 🖤
* search for "Fleetwood Mac Big Love Live REACTION and ANALYSIS by Songs and Thongs" for the breakdown.
No, Mick and Christine never had a thing, that was Stevie.
Stevie got Lindsey fired this last time because she can't have him around singing about her screwing around back in the day. She's the only one allowed to do that.
Now that Christine is gone, the Fleetwood Mac five are done.
They need to call it a day.
I thought I saw a documentary once where they said that Christine and mick were secretly at it while her divorce was still going through, but I could be wrong!
They are very chaotic haha, but it did lead to some great music!
@@markabusireactions Christine was involved with the lighting director but she and John had already separated. Even so, she told him You Make Loving Fun was about the dog. Fantastic bass line. 🤣
@@caps689 mental, all of it 😂😂😂
Isn’t it midnight live solo is excellent.
I’ll check it out!
😮Nah man you got it all skew wiff🤨 Fleetwood Mac were going nowhere as a folk blues band until Mick found Lindsey. Stevie his girlfriend. Yes there were dramas but they continued on for several years after. When Lindsey left they had to hire 2 guitarists to cover what he added ti that band!!!!
Check this guys brief history of...

I know that lol, but they weren’t exactly nobodies as a blues rock band. They wrote Man of the World dammit!
@@markabusireactions 🤣 Good one✌🏼
I should've said this in first comment, your reaction to this performance on it's own was spot on "that's fuckin' nuts" 👍🏻😉 (got sidetracked by the "prick" comment & anomalies in your band history, which by the way should be fact checked✌🏼)
@@helenmckeetaylor9409 oh, thing is, I totally understand how good Lyndsey was, and he totally made the band what they became. But he’s still a bit of a prick 😂 she’s not exactly blameless either lol
@@markabusireactions👍🏻 such is life in a band 💬 🤷🏻♀️
Love the reaction
Just that too much commentary ruins the feeling :/
I apologise! But if I didn’t do a lot of commentary I would feel like I was just stealing the video! 😂
It's a shame you interrupt this song too many times and comment extensively in the muddle of the proformance. Just sit down and enjoy it.
Dude it’s a reaction 😂 if you wanna listen to the song just listen to the song!
Stevie and Lindsey were the Life blood of Fleetwood Mac . With Both having amazing solo work .Check out Lindseys Tracks like .Soul Drifter . Trouble. Wrong . etc ..And Stevies amazing Solo Tracks .Edge of Seventeen . Leather And Lace . Songbird. Sable on Blonde .
While I agree to an extent, I do think fleetwoods best song was before stevie and lyndsey joined!
You probably should not tell history of the band stories when you know so little. Do a little research, the actual story is not a very well kept secret.
✌🏼😎🇺🇸
Nope, no research. Not the point of the channel!
@@markabusireactions so apparently the point of the channel is to share half truths and stories based upon hearsay. If you don’t know, you might think about asking instead of telling. ✌🏼😎
@@randyhochstein8455 nah, the point is to give my opinion on the music, and then say what I *think* I know about the music, but it’s always made fairly obvious that I don’t know what I’m talking about, and I learn things as I go along 🤷♂️ you haven’t actually said what I got wrong tbf
That is a shame.
