Just fear and manipulation . He wouldn’t feel happy or safe or loved. I wouldn’t feel comfortable playing evil Tav/evil dark urge or putting him with Minthara or Lae’zel , not in a romantic sense anyway. Maybe if they ask for sexy times , I’d make him do it cuz it’s canonically correct that he wouldn’t know how to say no, at least until act 2. But long term? No way am I doing that to him. He doesn’t deserve that. He needs to be with someone who genuinely loves him and will treat him right and wants the best for him. I think Karlach would be sweet. They were both enslaved by masters who were using them for things they didn’t want to do and they both want freedom from those masters. He can relate to her. shes also a strong powerful muscle lady with a good heart, and can easily protect him against Cazador . I’m just not sure how you would romance her and still make it make sense. he likes being evil but in order to gain her approval, you have to be a nice person and act like the hero, which are things he does not want to do. How you romance a good character without making him too OOC?
@@Lunakitty1234Can’t speak on Minthara as I haven’t seen much of her romance, but Lae’zel absolutely loves her love interest and is quite sweet after her act 2 scene. Part of her arc is about opening herself up to that love and tenderness, so I don’t think it’s necessary true that a romance with a character who isn’t good aligned would be devoid of love or that they wouldn’t ultimately want what’s best for their partner (Astarion is also not good aligned, but even regardless of that)

I feel like he’d be scared of someone that jumps straight to threatening him . I feel like at first he’d try to get her on his side cuz she’s strong and could protect him but then once she starts treating in a way that doesn’t make him feel safe he’d change his plan and go for another character that can protect him . And I’ve seen epilogue videos of minthara being mean to him about not ascending and it really turned me off shipping them . He doesn’t deserve to be talked to like that .

You're right, we don't know exactly how he looked at his marks, but romancing him, he does say he tried the same with you before catching feelings, that he want to have something real with you even if he doesn't know what 'real' is, and that being sexually involved is tainted for him (he does frikin dissociate as a response). So ye, that look and intentions aren't healthy for neither of you.

My Tavs more jealous about what’s happened after. He stayed for a cuddle with her like what 😢 tbh I can’t wait after games fully released to get all possible minthara content becouse she’s the only one interesting to me for Astarion run. I know he’s goals are learning to control the tadpole and actually approves siding with goblins so it makes a lot of sense to take this route (and they’re actually gorgeous together).
he also gravitates toward people that are powerful and can protect him. minthara is of house baenre, so underdark nobility. I think they would both struggle for dominance though

This ship isn't my cup of tea, but I don't think people should be mad at the creator or at Minthara for this video. 1. Minthara has the same dialogue no matter who you play as, 2. she has no idea about Astarion's backstory at his point, 3. she's brainwashed at this point in time, so it's not good no matter how you think of it, 4. as far as I know, he doesn't have a different expression from any Tav/origin character in this scene and is not looking traumatized, although yes, he probably doesn't feel great, and 5. this is a video game. I am frowning so hard my eyes are watering. I don't like this at all. I don't have any strong feelings for Mintara but this is a absolute no for me. Get away from him, he is been trough enough already.
I actually think they have a potential and quite a nice ship both in evil Astarion playthrough and in redeemed playthrough. I think they can start roughly, seeing each other just like tools but then get attached, learn on their mistakes and be free from their past, masters and gods and start a new house in the UnderDark helping spawns that are lost just like them were before.
Honestly, I don't know what to do with them yet. My idea of playing evil Astarion wasn't to be in a relationship, but then again, I've never romanced Minthara and maybe she's not a bad option for the later Ascended Astarion.
@Fairbrooke for my first 4 runs I was only able to romance someone other than Astarion by playing his origin 😆 but during other evil playthrough I realized how encouraging and empowering Minthy is. Then I tomanced her as Ascended Astarion a voila, his darkest desires, she supports 😈
