Compost Bag Experiment do the compostable bags really work?

Do compost bags really compost? I did not have success composting compostable bags last year and stopped using them. I was at my CSA on Tuesday August 20, 2019 for my pickup and only compostable bags were available for my greens and other vegtables so was forced to use these bags instead of the standard plastic ones that are usually provided. I mentioned to the attendant that the greens, lettuce and other vegetables do not keep well in these bags and they don't even compost properly. There was another CSA member that said the same thing they tried to compost them and did not work. So that sparked an experiment to take the bags I picked up during my week at the CSA and put them in the composter and record to see if the actually compost. The State of NJ is looking to start a bag tax on paper and plastic bags not just the plastic bags that are supposed to be the problem. I have composted paper bags regularly and they do break down, but the State of NJ insists that there needs to be a 10 cent bag tax even on paper bags leaving no alternative except bring your own bags to the store, even your local convenience store. So you'll have to tote around all these bags and there is questions if those bags are even better for the environment than plastic but that is a whole other discussion. Either way if the paper bags compost which I know they do this will prove that Govenor Phil Murphy and the Democrats push for a bag tax is just for a tax and no other purpose. Yes it might cut down on a couple of bags but if the paper bags break down in the environment and compost why tax those at 10 cents per bag???? It is about revenue and not the environment. Yes takes a long time but they disappeared
