There's one detail you may never have noticed: this scene is the only time in the entire trilogy that Smith calls him “Neo”. Whereas all the rest of the films, it was “Mr. Anderson”. I think that as he tells him “Everything that has a beginning has an end, Neo”, Neo understood that he was fighting the (contaminated) oracle, and therefore that this was part of the plan. What do you think?
I first saw the movie on DVD in 2004 and I immediately reacted like "the same 'guy' who ADAMANTLY called Neo Mr Anderson even AFTER the subway scene in TM where Neo was like 'my name is NEO!' called him 😮 NEO!" I think Neo at LEAST noticed that too.
I love your channel and your videos are the best matrix videos I’ve ever seen so I just wanted to let you know that I love this channel and keep up the great work
Smith didnt realize till his end that Neo and Oracle had the same purpose to be assimilated by Smith to delete him. Smith assimilated Oracle for the power and did the same to Neo for the fear for him.
He was afraid because he couldn't understand him or control him. We fear what we can't see and what we can't control. Neo chooses freewill against all odds, and even with a gun to the worlds head. He doesn't know why. He probably even knows that free will is paradoxical. But he's still a rebel. Sticks up the finger to oblige agent smiths request to co-operate in the first film. Realizes he agrees with Morpheus about not liking the idea of fate. He won't let go of his sense of self. His sense of agency. The limitation of the machines is its logical power. Logic can't justify something illogical. And where logic breaks down in its ability to explain existence and reality, is where sentient beings with a sense of self, find a power which transcends logical intelligence. The ability to make a choice without knowing the outcome, or even the why. Maybe out of an unconscious recognition of the the inherent value of being rather than doing. When we do things because we're coerced, it obscures our sacred value which comes before the doing, which is being. When we break free from the mold and from conditioning, and make choices, while giving up the need to understand reality in it's entirety with the logical mind, then reaffirm our being here. Even if we're not, maybe the affirmation is itself the being. I don't know what the f I'm talking about
Smith said himself :" Once the Matrix is destroyed, there will be no purpose for him to be there. " Therefore it makes no sense as to why he was afraid. He already knew the outcome.
Smith is afraid of Neo because Neo does not act predictable like a computer program does. Code is really a bunch of If-Then-Else statements. Smith cannot understand anything outside of that, ie Neo's lack of programming. Neither can the Oracle, as she is just code as well. It's not unlike AI today. AI only knows what it has sampled. It can only "create" what it has already observed. Smith and the Oracle cannot see past their code. Neo knows there is something outside of coding. (As did Morpheus, as did Persephone. That is why she wanted to kiss Neo to try to "feel," aka, sample, things outside the code.)
The oracle is actually enlightened ai if you read the script. You just don't see it in the film. Same applies to seraph. It's a bit odd why they'd make some ai enlightened and some not. You'd think they'd make all ai enlightened
@@MrTripcore An AI can't have anything higher than what is programmed into it. Humans have consciousness. AI's have programming. That's the first scene of the movie, the falling letters and numbers. The Matrix is a highly thought out and profound movie (story) but it's still fiction from the mind of a human. As is all code. ;-)
I JUST found out that the movie Total Recall was the first Matrix. Smith can't leave the Matrix. The crazy thing is, he's awake. He knows he's trapped.
@@thecartoonsthatmadeus4 I agree, it’s a tough conversation to have with the original creators, so many scenes that were off brand such as the scene when Morpheus returns in the bathroom was like a Saturday Might live skit, that should never had made the Final Cut, so many scenes should have been live action (e.g the dojo scene, probably wasn’t due to budget) and controversially I don’t think Neo and Trinity needed to main characters, there is so much lore to have a new main character to bring us in to the next generation
Matrix 5 will focus on Smith freeing other programs from the Matrix, and in the end, Neo and Trinity will help him, just like Smith did in M4. That's my prediction!
Agent Smith makes me wish Disney hadn't screwed up enough to lose Hugo weaving as The Red Skull. My 2nd favorite Marvel villain, and he gets treated worse than Doctor Doom...
Mister Smith turned into human and touched our hearts, becoming more human like, while Neos path turned him into lonely selfish hero, that cares only about himself 😂 Thats why i love Smith more than everyone. He never lies, and do the things right way 😂😂😂
Oh man I feel so sorry for you whenever I hear your hopes for Matrix 5 or beyond. The way you think of possible inclusions of details that the creators themselves don't even remember anymore or care to remember or care about working them inside new stories.... These projects are not done out of love anymore, but only out of corpos trying to make a quick buck (and failing miserably). Sometimes it's better to save yourself from the pain and just admit it's over and enjoy the first 3 movies and animations and that's it man
I am legitimately asking this question, but the notion of agent Smith feeling fear, with fear being an emotion, so are the matrix robots...they have the ability to feel emotion then? Because if not no Smith could not possibly fear neo. he might be emulating the actions of someone who is afraid of neo, but he himself could not be if he is unable to have emotions as a machine.
A sense of deja vu indicates a change in the Matrix. After much research, it seems the scripting for every server after the fourth, inclusive, was overwritten to solely consist of the $ character. We are calling this mysterious program The Miser, and their actions pose a threat to the structural integrity of the simulation.
Is it just me or did he say they’re making a fifth Matrix Movie? I mean I love these movies and it’s one that logically can be milked indefinitely for money because that would just further fit the overarching point of the films themselves but with how bad movies are being made lately is it really worth making a fifth one?

Good catch with the name change up. Now I understand why she baked the cookies. To confuse smith to the extent of her foresight.
Great insight
I always thought that this was the point that he accepted that Mr Anderson was actually “the one”
@@EmpireEnglishSchoolI believe it’s possibly both. Your understanding is quite valid and ads to the story. The Matrix is full of dualistic definitions
Oracle and Neo got assimilated by Smith for the same purpose. They knew the purpose and it worked.

Smith thought he can overtake the oracle, but it’s the opposite as she talked to Neo for a moment at one point.
Yes. The Oracle gave Neo a message through Agent Smith

If Agent Smith is actually The One, taking over Neo connects him with The Source which is where Neo is jacked in, thus allowing the Matrix to reset.
