With the pringles one, the can has lost all character due to the logo being changed. It looks like the designer was constrained to 5 shapes and each shape could only be black or white. They might as well just make the whole can white and write the word "Pringles" on it

I disagree with where you put pringles because I believe it now looks lifeless and is too simple. They look away it’s character and made it look like a weird shirt button.
I agree .They could have made it look simpler without ruining the character . the eyes sparkle and the brown eyebrows and mustache makes the character unique and lively.
I’m pretty sure the Pizza Hut logo was actually more recently changed back to the retro design. Also, I like the old staples logo much better, the new one doesn’t make sense to me at all, it’s lost all of its character

If I remember correctly, two of the most controversial redesigns as far as the public is concerned was IG and Pepsi. I've never seen more people hate on a rebrand on social media than those two in recent memory.
You didn’t mention the NI (National Instruments) rebrand but it was on your table at the bottom - totally agree it’s changed from futuristic tech to a simplistic pre-school vibe. [if you’re not familiar, NI make hi-tech lab and industrial kit with flashing lights 👍]
ebay I would put at neutral, it's better as a logo on its own, but the color make it look too much like a Google logo. To me the WB is much better than the old one, it's simple and versatile. Fanta I would say worse for the logo alone, but the branding on the bottles and ads and everything is better, so I'd be neutral. To me Facebook is worse, the new one is too corporate. I agree 100% on Instagram though. I've been 100% for the new logo from the beginning.
Great video! Would of loved to see both before and after rebrands on all the logos and not on just some. This would of helped me understand better how you were hiding each logo!
I think the only thing I don't like about the new Animal Planet logo is the font and the blue color of the elephant. I feel like the bright green was iconic and was the first thing I thought about when thinking of the logo. and the bold all caps font made it feel more alive and dangerous, almost "animalistic". Other than that I love the fact that's it's an actual animal. I think the Warner Bros logo is much worse. The gold and blue was absolutely ICONIC. I loved how bold and in your face it was, especially seeing it on a huge screen in the movies. The thinner and more simplified logo loses most of the character that the original had. It looks more like a dog tag than a film company logo.
Animal Planet’s original logo was the outline of an elephant on a green field with its trunk reaching up to a globe with the words “Animal Planet” beneath.
I agree with most of your choices, the pizza hutt one you showed after saying they should bring back I completely agree but i think with the dominos one the older design is better but both perfectly functional, but that’s the joy of being a designer when our personal tastes slip in but appreciate the function. Yes, Sagi Haviv is DA MAN and love the Animal Planet re-design (even the rounded under belly which for me adds to it's abstract nature as a whole) Love Pentagram's update for the Warner Brothers shield (though confused the newly formed Warner Brothers Discovery uses a flat version of the previous wider logo, and Saul Bass' Warner Communications is so damn awesome, and one of my all-time favs). Perhaps in the next video ranking include DC's logo re-design? (and Everton Football Club too) Highly recommend Pentagram's Library of Congress which has become... problematic since the previous version. I had recently watched another channel discuss simplified logos and the disdain he has for most of them (I agree newer logos have lost of the their character, 'Fridays' and 'Petco' are prime examples) BT is so boring now and worse imo without character, the best (my opinion) was the 90s version with the character holding the bugle. New Pringles, prefer the previous, eBay (why are all the letters lower case when it's spelt with an uppercase 'B'?) prefer the newer, but dislike both. Agree reverting back to old Burger King logo is the better choice. Ubisoft is HORREDOUS and Google is so, so much better. Great vid as always, Will! 👍
