@@waynehenderson6670 they were good, the older squarebox design was a better truck though - I’ve had both and currently a gmt800, they are all great trucks
I agree, they truly are a timeless design, and it doesn't hurt that they are some of the most reliable trucks ever built. My dad's '90 c1500 has over 670k mi on the original throttle body injected 350. The valve covers have never even been off of it. He always used Castrol GTX and changed it every 3-5k mi. He jokes ghat with only ~200hp from the factory, the engine doesn't have enough power to hurt itself 😂. But she's a torquey sum bitch.
Yeah but it didn’t have the “quit” feature that many others had when they rolled off the line. Not as comparable to the ranger but still a solid truck that would get things done. I prefer the ranger especially the dual spark variant though.
@Donutbagel113 the small block dodges are pretty good engines imo, if they're maintained half-ass decent they'll last 250k easily, I've seen on some of the old ram forums, people have gotten 350 to 400k from a 318 magnum
Do you know what “reliable” means? Lol. If it always starts, and keeps running with reasonable maintenance, than it is “reliable.” It isn’t a list of the most powerful trucks, or trucks with the most torque. I’ve had a few friends & family with old 80’s or 90’s S10’s, and they just don’t die. They keep running. The 4.3L, though lacking in power, was a very dependable motor. And I say that as a diehard ford truck guy. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a cheap S10 or little blazer if I needed a beater. My grandma had one for 15 years, never needed a serious repair. Just a couple of electrical gremlins and stuff like that. My brother also had one for years, and barely maintained it, when he had no money, and it never gave him a problem. He drove it and it ran great until he totaled it.
The GMT800 99-07's are some of the best trucks ever made. They will easily reach 500k with proper maintenance. Plenty of power, easy to work on, comfortable and one of the best looking trucks. It's simple styling kept them looking original. Sorry to all you Toyota fanboys but your Tundra will never be as reliable as this one.
I had 2 different Ford pickups with the 300 inline 6, an 81 F100 with a granny 4 speed, top speed...82 mph, that was bulletproof, bought it with 280,000 miles on it. Drove it 4 years, sold it with 350,000 miles, guy that bought it drove it 5 years to work everyday put another 80,000 miles on it. Hit a cow one morning going to work in the fog. I believe that motor would've ran forever.
1992 did not have a power stroke it was still the 7.3 IDI diesel it wasnt untill 1994 that ford went to the Navistar sourced T444/Power Stroke V8 diesel
Chevy 292, Ford 300,chevy small block v8.dodge 218 Cummins 5.9 12v or 24v. Vw 1600 Ford flat head v8. Studebaker 6cyl. Ford model t or a. Chevy 235 6cyl.
The K20 Chevrolet didn't come from the factory with 4 wheel drive in 1960, they were all Napco conversions until the late 60s. Dodge had the only factory 4x4 trucks in the early to mid 60s.
It depends on how it was equipped. I had a 86 S10 Blazer 4x4 with 2.8l automatic and 4.10 ratio that got 15 mpg city and highway, but later I got a 91 S10 Blazer 4x4 with 4.3l 5-speed manual with 3.42 ratio that got about 18mpg city and 23-25 mpg highway. The 2.8 barely got better mileage than my old 1970 c10, but the 4.3 with the 5 speed and high drive ratio got as good mileage as even my 2010 Ford Fusion 3.0 gets.
There should be no Sonomas or S10s above the Rangers for any year. There's more Rangers (pre-2011) on the road than S10s, Sonomas, Dakotas, Tacomas, Frontiers, etc than any other small truck.
I have a base model 2,000 Chevy S-10🛻4.3L V-6 A.T. & A/C with over 388,000 miles on it. I maintain it well,and I will drive it to hell & back before I will ever buy a💩🔌🚗E.V.

Any year Ford with the 300 inline six should have been on this list somewhere. They set the standard for reliability.
So true. They were bulletproof. I owned 3 Ford trucks with the 300 back in the day. Ran them all to 200 thousand miles and more with no issues.
Yep, my 93 F150 w/300 I6 is by far the most reliable truck I’ve ever had - still runs strong 440K and counting
What I was thinking, but they started the list off with a dodge…..😂
@@ET74019 haha indeed
What?? Haven’t watched the video yet, but How is that left off.
Ford Fuggin Ranger !
The GMT400 is, imo, the best looking truck since the sixties, especially today.
The OBS 1988 -1998 Gmt400 was the best trk ever built and they barely mentioned it.
My favorite vehicle ever!

Don’t you mean since the nineties
Not a single thing said about reliability. It's a list of notable trucks.
My dad had a ram charger and it was a great vehicle. He has always been a dodge guy and fan of the 318 engine.
Half these trucks could have been on the least reliable ever made. The Chevy S-10??? You had to turn the a/c off just to climb a moderate hill😂😂😂

International 1210 to 1310 pickup trucks we're also extremely reliable
Only truck tougher than the international was the Kaiser 5/4 ton jeep.
The mid 70s ford pickups and Broncos were some of the most over built trucks ever made but were evidently missed by this author.

At this point I'll settle for any vehicle as long as it runs good and doesn't hesitate or jerk between shifting gears.
If you don’t have the last generation of 7.3 power strokes I can’t take this video seriously

95 K1500 5.7l still doing 80-90 mph and not even breathing hard and still goes off road!
No Dodge from the 90s or 20s should have been on any list of reliability. Replacing the transmission every 70k miles as "regular" maintenance is wild.

It seems they made a list of trucks that was most influential then reliable

A 2006 GMC Sierra 1500. I didn't have to do a brake job until I hit 101,000 miles. Never broke down, never didn't start.

The old ones that have manual transmissions.

The most reliable trucks are made in the USA. In San Antonio Tx. They are called theToyota Tundra. End of debate.
The old ones. New ones suck
Yea sure
Yeah until the transmission blows up like the second Gens do. 😂😂😂
If Toyota was allowed on this list, it would have robbed a few spots here. I don't think any ford trucks can be called reliable.
