I love it that someone is finally making tutorials that help us learn what to buy, what essentials are needed and how they work! There are SO MANY options now to choose from that it is confusing. Oxide sprays, alcohol inks, ink pads, brushos, to name a few! Thank you Brandy for taking the time to do this.
Hello Brandy, I have been Stampin Up for over 30 years, and this is the first that I have seen this type of instructions as we begin. Thank you, thank you so much for putting this together and sharing.
I just want to say thank you for doing these videos on the basics. I have been making cards for 30 years, off and on, and I am loving these refresher courses!🙂
I really liked your explanation of all the stamps. I have purchased a few colors but this helps to understand the catalog. I wish you would have video on storage options of supplies. Not everyone can have your room.
While you made this tutorial a while ago, it is great re-watching (and re-learning). We're never too old to learn/re-learn. Thanks for sharing. Lorraine (from Australia)
Hi Linda!! Thanks for stopping by. Oh, you should absolutely put your stickers inside your ink pads. It's wonderful when you are stamping. You can see exactly what color is in front of you. Awesome!! Hugs, Brandy
This was a big help to me because I can't remember things well so I took notes and will also have a copy of your download page. But I bought some supplies from a person ending her stamping journey and I ended up with 11 different brands of ink, and after I watched your clip I know what I'm reading or looking for on each pad and how to use them. Thank you so much for the information.
Thank you so very much. You answered my question I was wondering about…now I know what ink pads I need to purchase…Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us…you are the BEST!
Thak you for all the good information. I will be printing the pdf for reference and also giving one to my Granddaughter who is just beginning her card making. She surpasses me with ideas for sure :)
Great tutorial... LOL, I never realized that there were stickers on the bottom... I had to go and check and sure enough all my ink pads have them. :) Thank you.
Aww... Thank You Beatrice!! I'm so glad you are enjoying my videos and finding them helpful. This makes my day. I really appreciate your note. Stay in touch. Happy Stamping!! Brandy
I like the tip of purchasing the bright inks first and stamp off. Love the mini pads and the unlinked spots. I have created my own spots with the refills.
Oh my gosh - this is so helpful, can't thank you enough. I inherited a friends mother's stamping things when she passed away. So blessed and grateful but seem to get confused on what to use for what and how to clean them. This is so awesome.
So happy to finally understand the different inks, as well as the tips for opening & closing the colored stamp pads. The vaseline tip was especially helpful for closing the stamp pads. Thank you for sharing all this info! I still consider myself a beginner stamper.
Hi Brandy, Watched replay. What a wonderful presentation. Well done. I've been stamping for quite sometime, however, I have revisited your wonderful tips. Great tutorial.
Hi Janice, Oh, you'll love our Stampin Up Products. If you don't already have a demonstrator please email me and I can send you complimentary catalogs. I think it will be helpful for you to see what we offer. I'm happy to answer any questions along the way. Happy Stamping!! Brandy
Thank you for this video! I'm new to Stampin' Up Stamp Pads, so this will help! I do know that not all stamp pads are equal! I already have Memento Tuxedo Black ink, so all I need now are colors! (I also have the Versa Mark pad, & love using it!!)

Well organized presentation on the basics. I always pick up tips, like putting the name strip on the front and sides of the stamp pad. Thank you, Brandy!

Hi Sue, Thanks for watching and for enjoying my videos. Sure, I wish I had some of these resources when I starting. I'm glad to share them and so happy they are helpful!! You can download the PDF here: brandyscards.com/beginners
I was told a long time ago to put a couple of stampin dimentionals between the protective cover and the lid of the Stazon pad. When you open it, it pulls the clear cover off. But, when you close it, it gives just enough pressure to keep the clear cover tight.

Loving your beginner videos, so many helpful tip. Just one question. What do you use to clean the whisper white ink and versa mark ink off your stamps?
Thank u Brandy. Is there a cost 4 the PDF on this video? I really appreciate u taking the time 2 break down what inks can b used with what markers, etc. How long do we let the. Inks dry b4 continuing on with our projects? This is very helpful. Have a great night.
Hi Amy, Thanks for stopping by. No cost for the PDF... my hope is to help you along your stamping and card making journey. You can find the PDF downloads at brandyscards.com/beginners. Sure, our colored classic inks dry quickly. Memento Black & StazOn Black also dry quickly but I generally give it 20-30 to dry before coloring the image with a marker.

Can I ask where did you get your marker holder behind you when your filming? can you show how the heck to fill the white craft ink pad? I made mess with mine and could never stamp with it out it getting everywhere.
Thanks for stopping by!! Sure, in past years Stampin Up has offered small coordinating dots with adhesive behind them. Sure, the marker holder can be found here:brandyscards.com/live-craft-room-tour/. If you scroll down to the bottom you'll see all the items I use in my room along with links to purchase them. Hope that helps! Sure, my Video #5 is all about reinking. I will be sure to cover that.

Hi thanx for this lovely informative video, much appreciated. Or save it in anyway, I could not get the reinker for this colour as yet, what can I do?🤷♀️🤔
HI Kitty, That's a great question. Yes, VersMark does dry on it's own. You don't have to heat set it. It just takes a couple minutes because it's a sticky pigment ink. It's a fabulous!!
Thank you for the info. It has been helpful. Two questions I had been told I could only use Stazon on red rubber stamps and had to clean the stamp immediately after each use. Not to use it on the clear stamps. I was wondering if you could clear up this information. Thank you.
Hi Johanna, Thanks for stopping by. That's a great question!! Sure, you can absolutely clean your Rubber stamps using StazOn Cleaner. Once you've removed the StazOn Ink I would clean them again with Stamp Mist or a mild soap and water. I've never had a problem with this cleaner on my rubber stamps. It's very important for photopolymer stamps that you clean them right after using this type of ink. If not cleaned, the in StazOn ink can make your clear stamps gummy and the chemicals in the cleaner can break down your photopolymer stamps. It's ok to use StazOn with your photopolymer stamps as long as you clean them immediately following use. I would use the cleaner and remove the ink. Then clean with soap & water or a Stampin Mist to remove any left over residue. Hope that helps!!
Hi Brandy. I was hoping you talked about the stampinup black in. Having trouble with mine. It stays wet for a very long time. I stoped using it because it would smear, even when I let it dry overnight. Any idea as to why this is happening?
Hi Wanda, Thanks for stopping by!! Sure, which black ink are you using? If you are using our old Stampin Up Archival Black... it takes forever to dry. Stampin Up wasn't happy with that so they discontinued that type of ink. Check and see which Black Ink you are using and let me know!
Hi Brenda, Good Evening!! It was so nice talking with you today. I really enjoyed it and look forward to getting to know you and enjoy this crafting journey together. Hugs!!
Hi Tami, Thanks for stopping by. That's a great question. The dry time can vary based on weight / type of paper, humidity etc. I would say it takes 2-3 minutes to dry. Because it's a slow drying, sticky ink it's perfect for embossing. I love VersaMark and use it often!
