    Portumna is tum like your tummy
    Great trip. Brings back so many memories of 9 years on the Shannon with my kids. So many more hidden gems to see.
    You barely scratched the surface.
    You could do it over and over without revisiting any one spot.
    Still feels like we gave it up too soon.
    I hope you get to come back sometime and do some more.
    Loch Derg. Loch Key. Kayak up past Drumshambo. Leitrim. Carnadoe. The inner lakes at zcoosan point. Mountshannon. Killaloe.

      Thanks for all of the tips! We'd love to come back and you are correct, there seems to be so many more places to explore. We feel that way about all of Ireland, we can go back and again and again and always find something new. Cheers!

    We just got back from doing this on the Emerald Star Le Boat from Portumna to Athlone and then back. Just 3 nights, and we loved it. I must confess the only "downside" is waiting for the locks to open, AND the fact that the little towns' coffee shops somtimes don't open until 10am. I always wanted to be out on the river early, and that sometimes wasn't feasible.... But, that's just minor -- we loved this trip and will do it again next year. Thanks for your great video!

      I agree, so many places are expensive when traveling. But it is surprisingly affordable to rent a boat on the Shannon. It works out to be a better deal than staying in a hotel and if you share with family or friends it can be quite reasonable. I hope you get the chance one day. Thanks for watching.

    Correction. Ireland is NOT part of the British Isles, brother, begging your pardon..

    • @pede8889
      @pede8889 6 месяцев назад

      Well it's part of the western isles. I wouldn't get too hung up on modern history. It's the ancient history you should get excited about.

    • @jeff_n1535
      @jeff_n1535 6 месяцев назад

      @@pede8889 BS. If you present something online, your facts must be correct and true, and the Republic of Ireland, or Éire, is NOT part of the British Western Isles. Ancient his-story remains in Ancient his-story.

    • @Hiram1000
      @Hiram1000 Месяц назад

      Eh, correction, it is. We are part of the British Isles, as you should have known from your geography classes, but definitely not part of the UK. The " British Isles" is the geographical description of the collection of islands of which we are part of. Every child in the country knows this, no disrespect.
      I'm guessing you're American? Why is it always non-Irish, or " Plastic Paddies" as we call them, who seem to think they know more about this country than the people actually born and living here.?
      By the way, great video. I live in Carrick, right on the Shannon.

    • @jeff_n1535
      @jeff_n1535 Месяц назад

      @Hiram1000 Wrong guess, I'm not American. Seems you're just as incorrect. Thought Ireland was the most western part of Europe. Prime real estate on the edge of Europe! With a commanding view of the North Atlantic and entrance to the Mediterranean..
