You mixed in flour into the Fruit mix because you don't want it to settle at the bottom of the pan when baked. The Flour makes the raisins to be afloat
Coating the fruits/nuts in flour prevents the fruits from sinking into the bottom of the pan.I love the fact that you didn't add the browny.The texture and the look is giving.Welldone ma'am
You are awesome! I am trying to steam my fruitcakes in the oven! I can't get a site to tell me how to steam in a regular oven! I have a realllllly good recipe for fruitcakes that would curl your toes! Lots of bourbon, lots of fruit soaked in bourbon and molasses!

Fruits and nuts have weight coating them in flour prevents them from sinking all the way to the bottom and also having a thick batter holds them up as well
