    My experience is that most electricians use these. I bought my first one because an electrician recommended it I. have used one many times. I've never had a false negative. False positives happen quite often because the same mechanism that allows them to work can couple a voltage to a wire that is not energized directly.
    I have the inexpensive Klein you showed. I didn't like it as much as the non name brand I had before it. They made the plastic end too thick and it won't fit into an outlet plug hole. It's too far back to reliably test the hot wire in the outlet if you can't put the plastic end into plug.
    I couldn't tell from the video if this one has that problem as well, but maybe this one works even if it isn't inserted into an outlet slot?

      The Tesman worked well without inserting it into the outlet. I use a Receptacle Tester if I need to insert.
