    Hey Afrodisiacs! In today's video we're going back to the basics. :D This video is geared towards naturals who just found out their hair is High Porosity and need assistance with building a regimen. Having an effective regimen for HP hair is ultimately how your hair will become healthier and longer, over time. xoxo

      Hey@@abigaildavid8891, if you're re-moisturizing/refreshing your hair daily, you can use a refresher for that. I recommended the Camille Rose Fresh Curl or Oyin Handmade Hair Dew.

    High porosity hair is the worst. my hair constantly looks dry and this indecisive Texas weather is so disrespectful. I don't know what to do. Been sticking with protective styles but I want to be free!

      @AfroKhadisiac  5 лет назад +6

      I'm sorry to hear that LaKendra! You should consider trying out the styling products I recommended in this video. They're the best I've come across for twist outs/wash n gos.

    • @marleyhill34
      @marleyhill34 5 лет назад +10

      It can better. I found that my hair would retain moisture in a protective style for the week if I did the LCO method. If the weather or indoor environment you are in is very dry air instead of humid, then remove glycerin from your leave in sprays and creams. If my hair is out in a dry environment, I have to moisturise my hair morning and night and spray with a fine must once or twice in the middle of the day. If it rains all day and my hair is not exposed to heating or air conditioning, it will stay moist even in a fro. I definitely have high porosity hair.

    I have very fine type 4 hair. My hair is high porosity because my cuticle layer is thin not because it's raised . Great info! I always knew I had high porosity hair but could not get a regimen together to combat the dryness and living in Vegas is added dryness. I’ve done research on humectants and you are correct with products suggested😁. With the cuticle being ALWAYS lifted you really need good silicons to keep the cuticle closed and then a good clarifying shampoo to wash away the build up!

      Shanna Kim hey there! Idk if you tried this, but it helps me with frizz. I add more product to my frizzy areas because to me they may be even more high porosity than the rest of my hair. Extra moisturizer, extra gel and shingling those few pieces then I use a thin oil as necessary to smooth out and seal. Also I have found I get less frizz when I add more protein so I use a diy rice water leave in my hair every few days. Happy hair days to you! 🤗

      Invest in aloe vera juice as it balances the ph of the hair....put on your leave-in, add the aloe juice, a little oil and then your favorite hair styler...watch how moisturized your hair will be. HP hair needs aloe vera juice...I buy it by the gallon...its also a great hair product to wake up your hair in the mornings. Commit to a protein treatment every other week until you see overall improvement then move to once a month. Also deep conditioner every week...try for 3 months to noticeable difference.

    I'm confused. When do u use the jbco shampoo ?

    • @irishrosiesx3
      @irishrosiesx3 5 лет назад +1

      To clarify once a month. So the moisturizing shampoo is used 3 weeks out of the month and on the 4th week the jbco shampoo is used.

    • @AfroKhadisiac
      @AfroKhadisiac  5 лет назад +1

      I use the JBCO shampoo whenever I've used a pomade to style my hair - its not very often, it just depends. That kind of build up isn't removed with the Shea Moisture High Porosity Shampoo. The JBCO shampoo is good for removing things like heavy oils & butters, while the ApHogee Shampoo for damaged hair is good for removing silicones and getting a deeper cleanse.

    If your hair grows high porosity I thought it wasn't damaged. It probably has something to do with whatever African dna we get. Probably yours came from a place where it was humid constantly and wouldn't need to hold moisture because it always had it.

      My hair is naturally high porosity, but I still consider it to be damaged because of how it behaves + the look of my cuticle. I didn't do anything manually to cause the damage but it is still damaged. Also, we know high porosity hair can stem from heat, color, sun, and harsh products as well. No matter how a person gets high porosity hair, the cuticle is still raised & needs to be repaired. I hope that makes sense lol!

      Even though the severity of the examples are nowhere near close, it can be compared to sickle cell. It provided initially a protection against malaria, but impaired red blood cells ability to uptake oxygen. Our DNA naturally gives us hipo hair, perhaps selectively preferred due to conditions you mentioned, but the negative side effect now outweighs the benefits.
