Hey Afrodisiacs! In today's video we're going back to the basics. :D This video is geared towards naturals who just found out their hair is High Porosity and need assistance with building a regimen. Having an effective regimen for HP hair is ultimately how your hair will become healthier and longer, over time. xoxo
Hey@@abigaildavid8891, if you're re-moisturizing/refreshing your hair daily, you can use a refresher for that. I recommended the Camille Rose Fresh Curl or Oyin Handmade Hair Dew.
High porosity hair is the worst. my hair constantly looks dry and this indecisive Texas weather is so disrespectful. I don't know what to do. Been sticking with protective styles but I want to be free!
I'm sorry to hear that LaKendra! You should consider trying out the styling products I recommended in this video. They're the best I've come across for twist outs/wash n gos.
It can better. I found that my hair would retain moisture in a protective style for the week if I did the LCO method. If the weather or indoor environment you are in is very dry air instead of humid, then remove glycerin from your leave in sprays and creams. If my hair is out in a dry environment, I have to moisturise my hair morning and night and spray with a fine must once or twice in the middle of the day. If it rains all day and my hair is not exposed to heating or air conditioning, it will stay moist even in a fro. I definitely have high porosity hair.
high porosity hair isn't damaged. there are people who have naturally high porosity hair. like ppl who are just born with it. ur videos r very helpful tho cuz there aren't a lot of high porosity hair youtubers

Daily moisturing spray 1-4 times a day in a drying environment with heat or air conditioning or dry air/weather. Heavy protein once every 4-6 weeks. Daily light protein once every day. Deep moisture condition once a week. Deep medium protein condition once a fortnight. Clarify once a month or every 6 weeks before applying heavy protein.
Sure, you can try that method and see how it works. You mean like water, oil, then cream right? I recommend a leave in because it's a good starting base. A good leave in will add moisture, slip, shine, and help define your curls which helps your hairstyles come out better.

Shanna Kim hey there! Idk if you tried this, but it helps me with frizz. I add more product to my frizzy areas because to me they may be even more high porosity than the rest of my hair. Extra moisturizer, extra gel and shingling those few pieces then I use a thin oil as necessary to smooth out and seal. Also I have found I get less frizz when I add more protein so I use a diy rice water leave in my hair every few days. Happy hair days to you! 🤗

I have high porosity sorta loose curly hair and thank you for this video. So after doing a leave in conditioner you apply a cream like the coconut and hibiscus stuff then you can style using the custard then seal it with an oil? Have I got that right? Thanks again
Hi Nathan! You're so welcome. Yes, you can apply the leave in conditioner, cream, and oil. Afterwards, you can layer on a gel. Whenever I style my hair in wash n gos, that's typically the method I use.
My HP 4b hair is so hard to manage .. it gets so dry and I struggle with single strand knots🤦🏾♀️ however, I have found a few products that work.. Aussie 3 min miracle, Tresemme moisture rich shampoo( even though it’s a sulfate shampoo it’s so moisturizing!) Tresemme moisture rich conditioner, Bella curl leave in conditioner, I also have the shea moisture raw Shea butter deep treatment masque but I haven’t tried it yet
Invest in aloe vera juice as it balances the ph of the hair....put on your leave-in, add the aloe juice, a little oil and then your favorite hair styler...watch how moisturized your hair will be. HP hair needs aloe vera juice...I buy it by the gallon...its also a great hair product to wake up your hair in the mornings. Commit to a protein treatment every other week until you see overall improvement then move to once a month. Also deep conditioner every week...try for 3 months to noticeable difference.
@@Rubyred-rb2fe Hello😃 Question:Since aloe vera juice has to refrigerated after opening,is it best to put some fresh juice in your spray bottle as needed everyday?
Hi Ak. I have a question. I have the shea moisture shampoo, can I use my dyi african black soap to clarify my hair? I just purchased the protein mask, do I need to wash my hair before I use it to get the best results?
Hey Donna! Sure, ABS is a great clarifier. ; I would wash before applying the protein mask so that it adheres to clean strands and penetrates well. xoxo
@@AfroKhadisiac Thank you for replying to my question so quickly. When I do the protein treatment, do I need to deep condition afterwards? Sorry for all the questions. I just want to make sure that I follow all the steps.
I use the JBCO shampoo whenever I've used a pomade to style my hair - its not very often, it just depends. That kind of build up isn't removed with the Shea Moisture High Porosity Shampoo. The JBCO shampoo is good for removing things like heavy oils & butters, while the ApHogee Shampoo for damaged hair is good for removing silicones and getting a deeper cleanse.
What regimen would you suggest to someone who just found out that they have HP hair with all the same hair characteristics as you and their hair presently is badly damaged, dry & fragile ? :)
Deep conditioner every week...protein treatment once a month and invest in aloe vera juice. Use the aloe after your leave-in, then add a little oil, then your styler. Also use the aloe as a daily refresher as it balances the ph level of the hsir.
@@shannonroberts7242 yw...remember dry hair loves botanical gels...aloe based or honey based gels. Try uncle funky daughter gel or mielle organic custard and mielle ginger...you will be glad you did!
If your hair grows high porosity I thought it wasn't damaged. It probably has something to do with whatever African dna we get. Probably yours came from a place where it was humid constantly and wouldn't need to hold moisture because it always had it.
My hair is naturally high porosity, but I still consider it to be damaged because of how it behaves + the look of my cuticle. I didn't do anything manually to cause the damage but it is still damaged. Also, we know high porosity hair can stem from heat, color, sun, and harsh products as well. No matter how a person gets high porosity hair, the cuticle is still raised & needs to be repaired. I hope that makes sense lol!
Even though the severity of the examples are nowhere near close, it can be compared to sickle cell. It provided initially a protection against malaria, but impaired red blood cells ability to uptake oxygen. Our DNA naturally gives us hipo hair, perhaps selectively preferred due to conditions you mentioned, but the negative side effect now outweighs the benefits.

Rubyred USA thank you so much for your advice sis. 😘will do
@@jademobley8328 I went through the very hard and dry phase until I discovered aloe vera juice. 🖤
@@Rubyred-rb2fe Hello😃 Question:Since aloe vera juice has to refrigerated after opening,is it best to put some fresh juice in your spray bottle as needed everyday?
@@feliciamichelle4615 yes or add a preservative like Vitamin E...but never keep it for more than a week...so your way is best!
@@donnadampier261 yes you may need to condition to bring moisture, but see for yourself how your hair feels after the Protein treatment
This was good info
Thank you Lisa! 🧡
So you do the lco method over loc?
Yes! The LCO method works better for my hair. I could do a video comparing both though.
beautifull video, I really suggest you the keratine line of Mill Creek botanicalls (on iherbs). You will thanks me later ;)
Thank you lovely! Ill have to write that down to check out. 🙂
I'm confused. When do u use the jbco shampoo ?
To clarify once a month. So the moisturizing shampoo is used 3 weeks out of the month and on the 4th week the jbco shampoo is used.
@@AfroKhadisiac thank you now i get it.
Thank you :)
@@shannonroberts7242 yw...remember dry hair loves botanical gels...aloe based or honey based gels. Try uncle funky daughter gel or mielle organic custard and mielle ginger...you will be glad you did!
Thank you
If your hair grows high porosity I thought it wasn't damaged. It probably has something to do with whatever African dna we get. Probably yours came from a place where it was humid constantly and wouldn't need to hold moisture because it always had it.
It acts like damaged hair and damages easier.
@@BklynBabe i know. It has more weak points
@@AfroKhadisiac i thought there was a difference since it isn't self inflicted.
Can I use argan oil
Sure! If your hair likes lightweight oils, you can try organ or jojoba.
💯💯
How long would you suggest to use a product to see if it works for your hair?
Hey Doretha! I would say give it a couple consistent uses. You want to make sure that your results are persistent. I hope that helps! xoxo
@@AfroKhadisiac thank you, every bit of information is a help because I'm about to give up. I don't like wigs and I'm tired of the puff so if it doesn't improve by July 2020 I'm getting a perm. I don't like dry hair.
@@dorethamcelliott4900 I'm sorry to hear that Doretha. What products are you currently using? Perhaps I could recommend some to you that would help to improve the moisture in your hair. Let me know!
Hey girlie. Listen to song tell me what you think. Its on youtube... Naquasia "your eyes".😘😘
