For anyone considering using St John's-wort medicinally, as Annie said, you have to be super careful, especially if you're on other medications. It can speed up the metabolism of some drugs. For example, a person who is diabetic, might give themselves insulin, and if they've taken st john's-wort, they might be thinking soon after "why does it feel like I didn't even take that insulin", which could end very poorly for them. That's just one example, but it has SO many interactions. Always talk with your doctors first.
really glad you made this point. A good rule of thumb is that if you take any other medicine, don't take St John's Wort unless you've consulted a qualified practitioner that can tell you about drug interactions.
I agree with your sentiment of ‘Always ask your doctor before using any herbs medicinally,’ but I’m wondering where you get your information on St.John’s wart interacting with insulin? I didn’t see anything come up in terms of actual research pertaining to insulin itself, but in the case of type 2 diabetes where they are on extra meds like metformin those are the types of medications SJW interacts or may potentially interact and cause some problems. It seems processing by the liver for the herb and the medication may be where the interactions lay, but it does also seem to interact at the brain level with psychological medications too. For people who are type 1 diabetics who are insulin dependent but not taking anything to combat insulin resistance (because type 1s as they age can become insulin resistant over time), and since type 1’s especially and many type 2’s are now using continuous glucose monitors having the problem you are describing along with the instructions from an endocrinologist would dictate that the diabetic doesn’t go dosing beyond what they need the insulin for in terms of what they are ingesting for carbs, at least for 3 to 4 hours after dosing. And even that changes if someone is on the omnipod continuously getting their background insulin plus their meal dosage fed into their system, and it is automated. I’m an autistic mom to a type 1 diabetic kiddo, I just wanted to warn against presenting information pertaining to medication use and specific types of chronic diseases that medications are required for as if it were factual without any supporting information and understanding of how the herb and the medication being referenced interacts. An accurate example would have been someone using MAOI’s may have medications not work or work to effectively or have psychosis as a side effect of interacting. That is quite well documented as having drug interactions and being contraindicated for use. As responsible practitioners of the herbal crafts we need to understand our words matter and we want to use them wisely and not spread misinformation and speculation when we share our opinions and advice. Blessed be.
🌲🍀🐾Honestly girl, you're too modest, it's not just the calendula that invokes happiness, it's YOU! It's part of your Sincerity, your "MAGICK". That's why we (your viewers) watch you. You "heal" without even knowing of it. 🤔If a new flower is discovered, and is found to have almost magickal medicinal properties, they should call it "ANNIE'S FLOWER"🌸. I would😎💚🐾🍀🌲.
Anna, your videos have helped me through a very difficult time in my life, and I’ve been following for years. We’ve spoken before or at the very least have interacted through your comment section here online throughout the years and I’ve finally established my business enough to where I’m able to offer a free custom set of nails (I make high quality hand painted and sculpted press ons) to you. I’d be honored to make you one. I can make super short styles, as well, and I’d love to, as a fellow green witch, make you a nature themed set. I’d truly love it. PS: I have your book and I love it so much. 🥲 Years before you released it, I was like “I hope one day she comes out with a book because it would be so helpful.” ❤️
My doctor actually recommended St. John’s Wart for depression, anxiety, neurological pain associated with my EDS, and it also helps quiet my mind at night for better sleep. LOVE IT! (Definitely one to be cautious about though.)
Thank you. This was a lovely way to start the morning. St. John's wort really does have a lot of interactions. I take it and I always ask my pharmacist about interactions. A good pharmacist is indispensable.
Totally agree with you! Although I would say that a naturopath would be more useful in this case. If I asked any herb related question to any of the pharmacists in my city they would look at me as if I was crazy. Or worse, go on a typical "modern medicine" doctors rant about how herbal medicine is hokey brainwashing, doesn't work and has no scientific proof. Ughgh....
@@ginga_ninja-wn9db Oh yeah. You should talk to a pharmacist, because as far as I understand it interacts with most antidepressants. Got to be careful.
This was a very good reminder to do my own spring cleaning! Thank you, and I liked this one. It was like unpacking together while I worked on my own little inventory.
A lovely chill video ☺ I do have to agree with an other commenter that it would have been nice to see the herbs in a close up aswell. Looking forward to the next part!
Great Idea to go through them on camera. I was given a ton of herbs a few years ago, half of which were not labeled, and most I've got figured out. It's an interesting process, I love it.
I just bought your book, and I cannot wait until it gets here! I somehow missed that you had one out! Would it be convenient for you to talk about composting, especially in city conditions? I don't have a huge yard full of stuff to compost, and I can't seem to keep pothos and houseplants alive, but I do have some herbs on the balcony that I'd like to use kitchen scraps on.
I'm so sorry you have to do that. I may be in the same boat soon. I have packed almost all of my things. If things don't go well at my closing I'll be unpacking everything as well. Great video as always!! Much love and many blessings from Michigan❤
Did you make a video somewhere in your thousands of videos a video about stinging nettles, its leaves, seeds and roots sorry to ask, but you have so many videos please? I am stacking currently with stinging nettles, raw honey, msm and the oil of cold pressed black seed oil and have been impressed with the energy, lymphatic relief and a rest in panicking lurches of energy, also inflammation is dulling down.
Lovely video, I'd love to see you go through the rest too! Also, I'd be interested to hear more of your thoughts about when herbs are still good to use magically. I've heard some people wouldn't use them magically if they're no longer good medicinally or for eating, believing the magical potency also declines. I don't have the experience to have any opinion myself 😅
If you compost herbs that has been dried out for a particular use (say house protection, strengthening your spirit, etc) or previously been imbued (sorry if that's not the proper term) with a particular intent (like for joy, calmness, focus, etc), does that intent or use persist after its been composted? Or does that decay and diminish with time? Logic tells me that it diminishes with time, just like how herbs and spices lose their potency over time, but perhaps herbal magick works a bit differently? It would be really cool to compost herbs that still have protective, healing, strengthening, etc abilities and then use that to nourish your veggie or herb garden. That would be a really nice cycle of nature little magic right there! I'm so sorry if this question is silly, I'm just starting out my herbal journey and I'm quite ignorant about many things.
I enjoyed this very much, thank you for sharing :0 I aspire to have a collection as extensive as yours some day, but for now I'm just starting out Could you perhaps do a video some time about how you built your collection? Like,,, are they all hand-picked/gifted or did you buy some of them too (If so where? :0) and what's your drying process like? :0 Apologies if such a video already exists XD
Oh, geez. I've moved eleven times, and unpacking is bad enough when you're actually in a new place. Unpacking in the same place would be infuriating. It's definitely a good thing you have a chance to sort and assess your collection and pare it down so there's less to hassle with when you finally are able to move. I'm anticipating a move sometime within the next year, so I'm taking the time to get rid of as much stuff as possible. Minimize the size of UHaul I'll have to mess with. @_@
I remember you mentioning in a previous video that you have used herbalism as a way to help with your EDS as modern medicine doesn't have a lot of treatment options for it. I have recently founds myself in a similar position, I was wondering if you could share some of the herbs you have found useful?
Just wondering why you live in Washington when obviously love Virginia, you speak so fondly of it as your home? Great video, do you order any herbs online and if so where, many you that have are not found around here in New England,
I just discovered your channel...and i found it really intresting... but here's a request ... can u please make a video on white spells/ magick and black spells/ magick i mean i'm a beginner but i'm a bit confused as if i non intensionally do something which affects the nature and laws of karma... i just want to know your pov on this.... hope u understand ❤️
Personally, St John’s Wort doesn’t do anything. I took it as a tea multiple times a day for a month. I quit my consumption of all interactions during that time. Didn’t work for me. Also, the more recent research is finding it less useful than presumed, although the interactions are still dangerous. So, I’d just say to stay away from it. I’ve never known anyone to claim it work for them medicinally
sweet lawd i like ur vids but it seems like your tryna whisper and it makes my voice strain just watching haha but maybe thats why u have 417k subs and i dont ❤

Maybe you could’ve held the herbs to the camera so we can help identify. I would’ve been more than happy to help. Thanks for another great upload ❤
I also wish more text and picture. "Dream-picture-feeling" is good...
We all have jars or bags of something that we didn't label because "I will remember what's in here."😉 Now you have lots of extra empty jars.
Been there done that too, still guilty sometimes...
Every time I do that I swear it’ll be last time. So far I’m a big fat liar

Loving the experience, watching while I draw herbs. The sorting and chatting is soothing,
Love and appreciate you Annie!
Thank you so much for this video. It has inspired me to go through my own herbs to determine which ones need to go back to the earth.
I love that your puppers always want to hang out when you're filming ❤ they're so precious (I work with dogs and German shepherds are my favorite)
Can't wait for part 2!

Annie, not Anna

Loved this. I could see rewatching even as company for doing my own decluttering.
Loved this video!! Thank you for sharing ☺️🌿
I really enjoyed this peaceful sorting/unpacking video. ❤
I’ve really enjoyed watching you go through your herbs and explaining and commenting about them. Thank you
Thank you, I appreciate all the knowledge you share🤍🍀

Very interesting and helpful. Looking forward to the next of these. Thank you for including us in your herb sorting.

Love this - definitely makes unpacking more fun for you and really interesting for us
Honestly every time i get the notification you posted i click straight to it 🧡 such a comfort youtuber
love the chill chat video of just going through herbs, should do more of these types of videos 🤷🏼♂️🌿✨
A lovely chill video ☺ I do have to agree with an other commenter that it would have been nice to see the herbs in a close up aswell. Looking forward to the next part!
Thank you from North Denver Colorado😊
I'm so glad you mentioned the life of the herbs! I've had some for a few years and was just going to throw them out! So glad I can keep them!!!
I can't wait to see the other boxes. Sorry the house didn't work out 😢

I loved this. I would love to hear more of the herbs you have in your collection. Always inspirational! ❤❤
We have Canadian thistles would they guard your home?
This was a great idea for a video. Good luck in your new home.

What Are Some Good Books To Read To Learn More About Paganism?
Verbs who are against parasites?
You seems to avoid them. - How about hartzies, who has fight against parasites for billjons of years?
How do you protect your Home - not just enjoy it?
Whatever you use, remember to put some fire behind by blackpepper etc.
