A little bit on how to break up a beat and talk about rhythmic units.
The counts:
Whole note - ONE two three four
Half note- ONE two THREE four
Quarter note- ONE TWO THREE FOUR
Eighth note - ONE and TWO and THREE and FOUR and
Sixteenth notes - ONE e and a TWO e and a THREE e and a FOUR e and a
In jig time:
ONE two three TWO two three THREE two three FOUR two three
Or
ONE two three TWO two three ONE two three TWO two three
