Ciara is one of the most successful, influential, and culturally significant RnB/pop acts of the 2000s decade.
To see her still around 17 years later with platinum hits from all her albums despite not having a major label and temporarily being black balled is amazing.
I'm loving this new wave of flowers she's getting. She deserves it and should've been getting it all along.
When and why was she black balled ?
@@shametrickpowell6918 Why? Don't know. There have been some allegations that her 1st record label was stealing money from her, and it lead to some burned bridges behind the scenes. But that's not comfirmed.
What we DO know is that her 3rd and 4th albums were actively sabatoged by her second label. They were leaked and pushed back numerous times. 2007 - 2012 were rough years for Ciara. Artists like Lloyd, Keri Hilson, and Polow Da Don have publicly attacked her. Jive Records de-funded her projects and yanked her singles off of radio. Media commentators were making fun of her career (Wendy, Charlemagne, DJ Acedemiks). BET even banned some of her videos and attacked her on twitter.
There was a concentrated effort from a lot of people to force her out of the music industry. One of the weirdest and most undeserved hate trains imo.
