Were pro-Palestinian demonstrators infiltrated by outside groups? | DW News

- President Biden says he won't be sending in the National Guard to deal with a wave of student-led protests against Israel's war against Hamas. Biden says demonstrators have the right to peacefully protest, but not to cause chaos.
Crews have been cleaning up at the University of California's Los Angeles site hours after police removed barricades and began dismantling a pro-Palestinian protest camp in the early hours of Thursday. Officers arrested dozens of demonstrators in the pre-dawn raid after protesters defied orders to leave.
More than 2,000 people have been arrested on university and college campuses across the US in the last two weeks.

This would be a national crisis in Spain. Here it is forbidden by law that the police enters any Campus

Don't lie
How has a peaceful protest ever helped any cause? Only times they ever been successful in changing anything is with over the top violence- Like Ukraine overthrowing their government with hundreds of cops dead. Its a sad truth.
Expression of position through protests is cool (thats the essential basics for democrathy) but still not sure if imposing it on others (e.g. by preventing them from entering the university) is correct
100% unsettling out democracies
I know for a fact that 2/3 of those arrested on my campus yesterday were not students, and our campus has been comparatively quiet during this whole conflict, so it would not surprise me if outside groups infiltrated protests across the country.
How do you know for sure that it's 2/3 considering half of them are masked?
provide your information source.
@@jasonsworld333 Isn't the entire point of protesting to show that YOU are against of fir something.
There is no such thing as anonymous protesting
Notice I use my real name on purpose so you know who I am and what I'm for
Rioting with masks is for cowards
Name names if you want any credibility for contradicting what everyone else has seen.
@@jasonsworld333 why would they need a mask if they aren't doing anything wrong?
In answer to your question, when they get arrested, they get get identified. The school gets checked if they are on the roster of students or not. With computers, that doesn't take that long. Campuses have systems where information can be conveyed to entire student body quickly, if needed. Alerts about classes being shut down are a big enough deal to warrant that, for sure.
People encamped like that preventing non-participating students from going to class is definitely a big enough deal to warrant communication to students, and non-students doing that is a campus security issue. Campus security issues warrant updates to entire student body. When I was in college, there was a separate system with notifications on every device you had to let you know about security issues on campus.
It is not hard to understand at all.
The constitutional right to assemble peacefully is violated when you harm others with your actions. Shutting down everyone else's classes ceases to be peaceful protest. They did it the wrong way, and their constitutional rights weren't violated because there is a caveat in that constitutional amendment and they totally crossed the line. I protested the endless, unjust wars my own government kept getting into when I was in college. None of us got arrested; we didn't do anything like that, though.
Even actual students had no business preventing other students from going to class because they were upset about something the president, who is not even there, is doing. Cutting down number of days people can be in class makes it hard for faculty to get through the material and seriously effects the entire school's access to education.
Biden should indeed be doing more to cut off Netanyahu, and should have done it a long time ago. But the other students at the school are not at fault for that.
People outside a student body camping out and stopping people from going to classes is not peaceful protest and is a major threat to campus security. The school is doing their job. Correctly. The students who did do that are not, and should all be expelled.

No! Here, police are subduing and evicting squatters who have been asked to leave. On 1/6, violent groups worked together to invade a federal building in an attempt to stop the transfer of the presidency and to seize and kill the VP and the Speaker of the House. HUGE difference, in conduct and in aim.
I can't really imagine what protest that celebrates government would look like.
In this day and age of government preassuring and compiling internet databases it's very dangerous to protest. You could do a serious crime and you'd get due process and (importantly) a clean slate at the end of a certain period. You get neither here. And, of course, the government is much more interested and vested at some guy shouting let's go Brandon than, say, a random car robber.
