Terrence McKenna said that computers would slowly evolve into drugs and we're seeing that happen in real time. The idea that you can be transported to different reality even a virtual one is super cool and I can see the parallels. I can't help but think of the matrix or that one episode of futurama where all the old people become human batteries and live in a virtual world. Honestly I hope the technology becomes good enough in my old age to wear I can live somewhere else rather then be in a nursing home. That may be a hot take but I'd rather have a virtual body that could do anything then in feeble one that can do very little.
