I can actually imagine this in a game without it being postgame. Actually, now I want to see this concept, but as rematches, I think that would be cool
@@PokéThinkEach of the E4 use three different types, and the champion uses the six remaining ones on their six Pokémon. I dunno, maybe that’s too much type diversity?
@@jessehammer123 I like the idea of a champ the uses six different monotype Pokemon. Think the closest ever came to that was Blue's Vaporeon team in Pokemon Yellow with 5 of the 6.
I love this concept, and the video is amazingly well done! I would've never guessed that this is your first or even 100th video. I would've changed Alolan Ninetales to have snow warning so that it doesn't need a turn to set up the snow and 2 turns to set up snow and aurora viel. Its duel weakness to steel makes that difficult. And I think it'll make it more unique since Mamoswine already has snow cloak. I also think Hisuian Zoroark should've had Bitter Malice (it's signature move) and Kilowattrel should've maybe had Wind Power, it's signature ability that charges up its next electric type move. This would work great with the tailwind set up earlier. But other than those nitpicks and personal preferences, this video was amazing! And I have an idea for a future video: A set of gym leaders for every type of terrain and weather, there are 4 terrains and 4 weathers in total so it works out perfectly. Something like Misty Terrain Misty Terrain doesn't have that many different interactions but that makes it good for an early gym. I have made this concept before on my own (never posted it anywhere) so if you would like my help I'd be more than happy to give it. Either way you've more than earned yourself a loyal subcriber!
Hi! thanks for the feedback. I didn't really explain my process in the video (should have!) but I stayed away from Hidden Abilities and giving Pokemon moves before they could naturally learn them (Zoroark learns Bitter Malice at 46). Also that's a cool idea!

This was great! A really novel take on a well trodden concept that was thought out in a realistic way while still having the gyms and typings be strong. Even rock bug isn’t a terrible combination! Great stuff. My only thing that is just a nitpick is that you have the effects of certain moves wrong even when their proper effects are shown on screen, but even that’s not a big deal and just gets engagement like this haha
Yeah, there are at least 5 mistakes that people pointed out (easy to make when you're making like 30 movesets!), and there's probably 20 comments alone pointing them out haha. Thanks for the watch!
Not quite sure how the algorithm picked this up but man I'm glad it did! This was such a refreshing take on gym leaders! As a Dwebble lover myself I loved the Bug/Rock combo!
I really like this concept for Pokémon gyms. I haven't seen the dual-type gym leaders idea on RUclips, despite it having so many videos on the topic, so props to you. I look forward to seeing more of your content!
Incredibly well done Especially coverage is very well thought out Not just making perfect coverage movesets but an actual ingame challenge Few notes: -facade doesn't do more damage against burned opponents. It does more damage if zoroark is statused. Hex would work tho -steelix does not get a special defense boost in sand. Only rock types do -ice spinner does not remove hazards Edit: VISH SPOTTED!!
Very cool idea for video. What my problems with a lot of these types of videos is that people always make the strongest team without taking into account Gym leaders are supposed to be a difficulty curve. Aside from too many coverage moves, I think your type combos, pokemon choice, gym order and leaser choice were all interesting.
I can't believe you are creating such high quality content so early in your RUclips career, if not for your little interjection I would've had no idea this was your first video, can't wait to see where this channel goes
You definitely have what it takes to be a popular RUclipsr, this idea is the most creative I’ve ever seen, good luck with other videos and hope you reach you’re sub goal👍
Really great video, very high quality for a first video. Although, I have a few minor nitpicks (warning, overly critical writing below): 12:52 Why Zen Headbutt instead of Psycho Cut? Psycho cut gets boosted by sharpness, turning into a 105 base power move that's still 100% accurate, unlike the 90% accurate zen headbutt. The only benefit zen headbutt has is the chance to flinch, but Gallade isn't fast enough with only a base speed of 80 to take full advantage of the flinch chance 15:59 Why Giga Drain? Torterra already has seed bomb as a grass stab, and giga drain is using Torterra's weaker 75 special attack. If you want a healing move in that place, synthesis is much better, but leach seed could also work. If you wanted a second grass stab option, Wood Hammer uses the much better 109 physical attack that's also a really powerful move. 16:33 I'm surprised by the lack of rapid spin for Excadrill. I know stealth rock would not nearly be much of an issue for a gym that's half ground, but the ice types won't appreciate it, additionally any other hazards set up by the player. Considering you gave heavy duty boots for Kilowattrel and rapid spin for Torkoal, the logical option would be to add it here too. 16:48 I think light clay would work better for Alolan Ninetales instead of another icy rock snowscape. I doubt 7 full turns might pass between Glalie setting up the snow, both it and Excadrill fainting, and Ninetales reaching the field again, so immediately setting up an 8 turn aurora veil would be more beneficial. Even if 7 turns have passed, 8 turns of aurora veil is more beneficial than more snow that only give a 50% boost to defence. Considering this is the 7th gym, and this already exceeds the usual power level of the mainline gyms, I don't think light clay aurora veil would be unfair. 17:06 Again, the issue of using the weaker attacking stat for freeze dry, but I can give this a pass since it has a use that no other ice type or move in Mamoswine's movepool can do 18:07 I don't exactly see the point of giving Basculegion rain dance + damp rock if you aren't gonna give it swift swim too. Basculegion is already a menace in the rain without an ability, and while I get the appeal of adaptability and rain (and adaptability also benefits phantom force too), giving it swift swim so it outspeeds opponents would be more beneficial. Ridiculous amounts of damage is great, but only if you have the bulk or speed to use it, and already giving up a turn to set up rain isn't great for Basculegion 19:21 Why give it a second water type attack instead of a move like ice fang, psychic fangs, or crunch that also benefit from it's strong jaw ability? 21:27 Again the doubling up on stab attacks, especially one that don't provide a specific utility. If the opponent it's already poisoned, poison point has the same chance as poison jab to poison. I feel liquidation might be better than poison jab since it can hit the ground types that threaten it. Don't take these nitpicks too harshly, I'm just being way too critical, these were just some minor issues I noticed while watching. Again, an overall great video, a really interesting and unique topic, and I can't wait to see what else you make :>
Wow, thanks for all the feedback! I'll respond to a few Zen Headbutt was given since Psycho Cut is no longer a TM an can't be learned until the level 40's. I originally was going to include levels for each Pokemon, but it didn't fit the layout well. Yeah, Mamoswine needs Freeze-Dry to hit water types. It was part of the draw of the Ice/Ground combo, hitting 10 types for super effective damage. Maybe not the best strategy, but I liked it. Most of these other things were just oversights or things I didn't think of. Can't please everyone, for every comment I get about doubling up on same type attacks, I get a few about there being too many coverage moves. Gotta remember that these teams are supposed to be NPC playthrough teams, which often have doubled up type moves and stuff, not competitive teams.
Commenting mostly for the algorithm. Three slight goofs I picked up in video. Façade only does double damage when the user has a status, not the opponent. Ice spinner does not remove hazards, but does remove terrain. Heavy slam on a heavy metal Duraludon, contrary to believe, would actually be a poor move choice. It's doubled weight would not be very high, and would do very little damage.
Nice catches on all the goofs! For Facade, I meant Hex, but just slipped my mind. I didn't know that about Ice Spinner until some people pointed it out, and I just learned about Duraludon's low weight! I was just tempted into it by wanted to make use of its ability. There's one more error in the video (at least one more someone has pointed out)! Can you find it?
@@PokéThink yes sir. I believe it is with Steelix getting the special defense boost from sandstorm. I personally spaced when listening to the video the first time, but saw someone else comment.
@@PokéThinkfound it. pain split on spiritomb “to finish things off” doesnt work, pain split can never get a ko since thatd require one of the pokemon to have negative hp when the move is used
I love all your ideas, you're makin' me wanna attempt playthroughs with some of these type combos. You should do a followup video in which you outline the "rematch" teams, y'know. Post-game rematches with the gym leaders and whatnot. Also this is your first video?? What a banger to start out with!
I've always thought multi-type, status, or themed teams should be the next logical step for gym leaders. Your team ideas were excellent and made sense, although me being me, I can't let an error slide on Jasmine's fairy/steel team. Ice Spinner only removes terrains, not entry hazards. However, this did give me the idea to swap Whimsicott and Azumarill's order, and give Whimsicott Grassy Terrain and a Terrain Extender instead of Leech Seed. This provides healing for the whole team instead of just Whimsicott, and it helps out Tinkaton and the other steel-types by weakening opposing Earthquakes. You just gained a follower, and I can't wait for more content!
Thank you for the correction (there are a few others that some other users pointed out, can you find them??) and that's a cool idea! I'm sad I didn't end up using terrain on any of these teams.
this is fantastic work!!! i've been trying to teambuild gym leaders for myself and this is a great reference for that extra challenge :) can't wait to see future videos
Man, this was a great video. I'd love to able to play a game that has this concept as it would probably be n actual challenge. Great production for your first video, and I hope the algo takes you far man.
You know, for this being your very first RUclips video ever, this was really well made. Great editing, original subject matter, and good presentation. You've just earned yourself a new subscriber. As for me, if I was Gym Leader who focused on two types, my gym would be based on Ghost and Ground types (my two favorite types). My gym would have an archaeology theme to it, with most of my Pokemon having an ancient vibe to them. I would be the 8th Gym Leader so I could have a fully evolved team. My team: 1. Cofagrigus 2. Claydol 3. Sigilyph* 4. Runerigus 5. Golurk (Ace Pokemon) *I know that Sigilyph doesn't technically have either of my type specialties since it's a Psychic/Flying type, but it fits the theme of my Gym so it gets a pass lol.
Nice team! I think there are lots of gym leaders that have off-type pokemon for the service of a theme! For a rematch team, maybe you could also add a Fossil Pokemon!
I'm not one to comment, typically, but when I heard this was your first video, I was flabbergasted. I expected this to be from a channel with like, 10k subs. Keep up the good work!
Nice concept, infinitely more interesting than the stale format current Pokemon games are running, doubt we’d ever see something like this unfortunately, but definitely could be used in a fan game or some post endgame Pokemon activity (like battle frontier etc.) one can dream 😂. Great 1st video keep grinding 👏🏻
I either agreed with or was utterly convinced by every pick in this video besides 1, great job! The 1 pick I disagreed with was making that skinny dude the Bug/Rock gym leader, he doesn't give Rock/Rock Climber vibes at all lol
That's honestly fair! Who would you have picked? I thought Bugsy might be cool as it gives "looking-under-rocks-for-bug" vibes, but I thought that pick might be a bit basic.
Have no idea how I came across this but this is such a great selection of Pokémon and typings. I would love for this to come in the 10th gen but we’re more likely to see this on a ROM Hack. Definitely subscribing and hoping to see more vids.
I would add that when you defeat a dual type gym you have to choose what TM you will receive. Let's say, Rock slide or U Turn. If you want the other one you missed you have to rematch the leader in the post game
That's so cool!!! I love the idea. Gives your playthrough some more choice and I feel like it would make Nuzlockes involve a bit more strategy (not that they don't already!)
Yeah, I was thinking that, but ended up not doing it due to what Level it would probably be for a fifth gym (it learns it at level 42). Not a huge fan of when gym leaders get early moves and early evolutions. TMs are fair game though!
@@PokéThink Well, you can still trade a Gallade that knows Psycho Cut that is under level 42 from a different game over to a Gen 9 game and then use the Ability Capsule/Patch to get Sharpness. That way, you have a Sharpness Gallade with Psycho Cut below level 42.
Those teams are great but they’re definitely too difficult for a normal Pokémon game. The fourth gym leader having Hoenn’s fourth gym leader’s ace with its hidden ability and an 80 bp sun boosted stab move with a 30% chance to burn is overtuned That being said I would 100% play a rom hack with these leaders
Yeah I think the overall idea for this video is that Gym Leaders are too easy right now, but some of these gyms are definitely more ROMhack difficulty or maybe optional Challenge mode (if they ever bring that back). And to be fair, a lot of the difficulty of a Pokemon game is created by what Pokemon are available for you to catch. Also jtlyk, Drought was added as a regular ability (Hidden ability is Shell Armor) to Torkoal in Gen 7.
8:12 that’s not hot facade works, if you wanted a move that would do more due to a status then Hex would be good, instead of ig shadow ball but its less consistent so maybe not
For the Ice/Ground gym, since the team is entirely weak to fire, I would replace torterra by a ground/water type with water absorb (since you were afraid of water types) and give Mammoswine Thick Fat. Besides that the concept of dual type gym is really cool. I always wanted Game Freak made gym which are not one type. why not continue in this vein with 8 themed based gym (food, technology,...)?
You should’ve went archaludon for the dragon water gym. It’s strong and why just have a un fully evolved Pokémon for the final gym and you have a rain set up for electro shot
I tried to keep the aces on each team as the highest bst pokemon. Archaludon has a bst of 600, which I feel like is maybe a bit too high for gym leaders (maybe a good fit for a rematch!)
ok ok ok WAIT, a kilowattrel at the SECOND GYM is Insane cause youre basically asking for another X and Y situation where the second gym is at lv25+ due to wattrel evolving at 25, While i do love gen 6, the level jump between gyms 1 and 2 like that was NOT OK also i did a double take when you said Drifblim but Drilburs Cry plays LMAO also i love that you have so much faith in doubling Duraludons 88.2lbs with heavy metal AND gave it Heavy Slam to double down on that, i found that comedic. back in Sword and Shield i had a Duraludon with that gimmick, max Atk EVs too, it did Negative Damage even at 80kgs. and i missed it at first but Mirror Coat on non Assault Vest Duraludon isnt going to be doing a lot because of the Base 50 Spdef being such a hinderance. btw not trying to be a hater, just finding some things a bit odd and out of place.
I stand by Kilowattrel. In Sword and Shield, the first gym is at level 20. All just depends on the gameplay around the gyms. The drilbur cry was a dumb mistake haha, and yeah! I didn't really look at Duraludons weight, I just wanted to use its ability. How deceptively light it is!
Good video, though I have to correct you on this, @8:12 Facade powers if you are under status, not the opponent For what you intended to do here you might want to use Hex instead of Shadow Ball Ice Spinner doesn't remove hazards, only Terrain You can give Excadrill Mold Breaker instead of Sand Rush Also, Gallade not having Psycho Cut instead of Zen Headbutt is a crime
Yeah, a few people have been pointing out the Facade/Hex debacle. There are two other errors (so far) in the video, can you find them?? Also, I should have mentioned this in the video, but I didn't use Psycho Cut because as of Gen 9, it is no longer a TM and Gallade only learns it at Level 42.

You just gained a follower, and I can't wait for more content!
Thank you for the correction (there are a few others that some other users pointed out, can you find them??) and that's a cool idea! I'm sad I didn't end up using terrain on any of these teams.
I love the editing style! I cannot wait to see what other fun ideas you have for videos
Thanks so much! More coming soon.
Awesome video man! But i think ice spinner only gets rid of terrains not hazards haha
:0 you're totally right! Lots of details to keep track of. Thanks for the watch and comment!
this is fantastic work!!! i've been trying to teambuild gym leaders for myself and this is a great reference for that extra challenge :) can't wait to see future videos
Thanks! The key is type coverage!
1st vid and starting off strong, keep up the amazing work dude and you will blow up for sure, Im investing in your stock now.
Thanks! We'll see how it goes moving forward!
Wow, what a cool concept. I hope someone pics up this amazing idea and turning it into a rom hack.
Nice editing, keep it up. Can’t wait for your next video!
Thank you! Coming soon.
Lotta fun was spawned thanks to the discussions this vid spawned. Really cool concept
Thanks! More coming soon.
Man, this was a great video. I'd love to able to play a game that has this concept as it would probably be n actual challenge.
Great production for your first video, and I hope the algo takes you far man.
Thanks! I appreciate it! Stick around for some more videos
I’m so happy this showed up in my feed! Algorithm knows exactly the type of content I enjoy.
Thanks! Stick around for more!
love the video !!!! psycho cut is pretty much strictly better for gallade tho I think?
Yes! But unfortunately it is no longer a TM in Gen 9 and only learnable at level 42. I should have mentioned my reasoning for that in the video.
One of the best Pokémon videos I’ve seen. Loved these teams🤩
Thanks so much!
My team:
1. Cofagrigus
2. Claydol
3. Sigilyph*
4. Runerigus
5. Golurk (Ace Pokemon)
*I know that Sigilyph doesn't technically have either of my type specialties since it's a Psychic/Flying type, but it fits the theme of my Gym so it gets a pass lol.
Nice team! I think there are lots of gym leaders that have off-type pokemon for the service of a theme! For a rematch team, maybe you could also add a Fossil Pokemon!
@PokéThink That sound like an excellent idea. You can't get more ancient than that lol. Looking forward to your future content!
I guess you could use an Arceus!
Yay new youtuber! Great video
Thanks!
I'm not one to comment, typically, but when I heard this was your first video, I was flabbergasted. I expected this to be from a channel with like, 10k subs.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks very much! Commenting and subscribing seriously helps get me there! I appreciate it.
This was a cool video, and I love hearing about Bug/Rock combo, it's so solid when paired together, same with Grass/Rock
Thanks! I really considered Grass Rock, but the Bug/Rock as a first gym was just too good.
Ooh, or perhaps a DLC (now that that's a thing for the series)! Thanks for the watch!
For a first vid this is well made! I want to see a rematch team of each gym! I want to see the full potential of each gym
Thank you both for the compliment, and an idea for some more content!
I was shocked when you said this was your first video! Starting super strong!
Thanks so much!
Solid man. Can't wait to see you grow
Thank you!
Wow, I had no idea this was your first video! Great work ^^
Thanks!
Great video! I have one correction, Ice spinner does not remove hazards. It removes terrain though!
Thanks for the correction!
This is insanely good for a first vid (or any vid)
Thanks so much!
Beautiful, especially for a first video. And great ideas!
Thanks! more coming soon!
Have no idea how I came across this but this is such a great selection of Pokémon and typings. I would love for this to come in the 10th gen but we’re more likely to see this on a ROM Hack. Definitely subscribing and hoping to see more vids.
Thanks so much! I agree, I think this kind of stuff would definitely be more likely in a ROM hack, and I'm surprised no one's done it yet!
Good work. Keep it up!
Thanks so much!
Another great and hard working RUclipser great video keep it up❤❤
Thank you!
No Aegislash for the Steel / Fairy gym? It’s the signature weapon of a fairy tale hero!
maybe perfect for a rematch team!
Great first video tbh great original idea
Thanks so much! Excited to post more.
What an awesome video! Keep it up 🎉
Thanks so much!
Awesome video!
Thanks so much!
7:09 that's the drilbur cry 😅
drifblim being sus
Facade deals double damage when user is statused, not target. The move you are thinking is probably hex.
Other than that, great ideas.
Yes thank you! Another viewer pointed it out and I added a correction in the description. Hex indeed!
I loves everything of this video, please post more
Thanks so much! More coming soon.
This content is EVERYTHING
Hear me out… hydration Goodra would have fit perfectly on the water dragon team
Cool idea! I think a pseudo might be too strong? Idk, maybe not for the 8th gym leader. Would definitely work on a rematch team of 6!
@@PokéThinkgood point :)
Ice spinner on Azumarill doesnt remove hazards, only terrain
ty for the correction!
Rotom heat resists ice/ground too!
Also: Bronzong, Rotom-frost and Cryogonal
Can't forget about levitate!
Oh dang! Totally forgot that. So I guess it doesn't have a 4x weakness after, but the typing still does.
"Its 2010,you're 13" sir i was 5
womp womp
Sir I was just born
Honestly you should do this again and have Hawlucha with Flying Press be an ace for a flying/fighting gym
Maybe! I deliberated over the typing matchups for a long time, but yeah, Flying Press fits this theme so well. Thanks for the comment!
Boy that drifblim sounded a lot like a drilbur

For Gallade, I think it should run Psycho Cut instead of Zen Headbutt since it hits harder with Sharpness.
Yeah, I was thinking that, but ended up not doing it due to what Level it would probably be for a fifth gym (it learns it at level 42). Not a huge fan of when gym leaders get early moves and early evolutions. TMs are fair game though!
@PokéThink Oh. Well, it is a TM.
@@DemonGaming-pkm5 It was removed as a TM in Gen 9 sadly :(
@@PokéThink Well, you can still trade a Gallade that knows Psycho Cut that is under level 42 from a different game over to a Gen 9 game and then use the Ability Capsule/Patch to get Sharpness. That way, you have a Sharpness Gallade with Psycho Cut below level 42.
@@DemonGaming-pkm5 That's a pretty big brain play. Thanks!
Bro is cooking

Those teams are great but they’re definitely too difficult for a normal Pokémon game. The fourth gym leader having Hoenn’s fourth gym leader’s ace with its hidden ability and an 80 bp sun boosted stab move with a 30% chance to burn is overtuned
That being said I would 100% play a rom hack with these leaders
Yeah I think the overall idea for this video is that Gym Leaders are too easy right now, but some of these gyms are definitely more ROMhack difficulty or maybe optional Challenge mode (if they ever bring that back). And to be fair, a lot of the difficulty of a Pokemon game is created by what Pokemon are available for you to catch.
Also jtlyk, Drought was added as a regular ability (Hidden ability is Shell Armor) to Torkoal in Gen 7.
@ Ooh didn’t know that about Torkoal thanks for letting me know! But yeah if they ever make a hard mode, those teams would be fire! Especially Cyrus
Impressive debut video 👏👏👏
Ty! More coming soon!
8:12 that’s not hot facade works, if you wanted a move that would do more due to a status then Hex would be good, instead of ig shadow ball but its less consistent so maybe not
Facade's damage is based on the user having a status condition, not the target.
Oh shoot! Nice catch, should have been Hex
Oh dang, you're totally right! Maybe I'll address this fire weakness if I ever do a rematch vid for this concept
Now to add quadruple-type Elite 4 members
the big brain play
Him: it's 2010, ur 13 years old
Me: * wasn't even born then and am 13 years old now😅
I was 20 😂
Great video!
Lol my Scovillain in Violet had that exact moveset (I might have switched out zen headbutt later though)
Sounds like a pretty good moveset then :D
ok ok ok WAIT, a kilowattrel at the SECOND GYM is Insane cause youre basically asking for another X and Y situation where the second gym is at lv25+ due to wattrel evolving at 25, While i do love gen 6, the level jump between gyms 1 and 2 like that was NOT OK
also i did a double take when you said Drifblim but Drilburs Cry plays LMAO
also i love that you have so much faith in doubling Duraludons 88.2lbs with heavy metal AND gave it Heavy Slam to double down on that, i found that comedic. back in Sword and Shield i had a Duraludon with that gimmick, max Atk EVs too, it did Negative Damage even at 80kgs. and i missed it at first but Mirror Coat on non Assault Vest Duraludon isnt going to be doing a lot because of the Base 50 Spdef being such a hinderance.
btw not trying to be a hater, just finding some things a bit odd and out of place.
Great video
Thanks!
Brilliant, love the use of non over 500 bst pokemon
Ty! I tried to keep the ace as the highest BST pokemon in most cases
Good video, though I have to correct you on this, @8:12
Facade powers if you are under status, not the opponent
For what you intended to do here you might want to use Hex instead of Shadow Ball
Ice Spinner doesn't remove hazards, only Terrain
You can give Excadrill Mold Breaker instead of Sand Rush
Also, Gallade not having Psycho Cut instead of Zen Headbutt is a crime
Yeah, a few people have been pointing out the Facade/Hex debacle. There are two other errors (so far) in the video, can you find them??
Also, I should have mentioned this in the video, but I didn't use Psycho Cut because as of Gen 9, it is no longer a TM and Gallade only learns it at Level 42.
the algorithm has summoned me
