- I was pretty familiar with the version of this song done by George Jones (I believe on his "The Grand Tour" LP), so I was like "What's Ray Griff's like?" Hell, he wrote it! Ray does tip-top per the usual. A #42 hit in 1974.

George Jones version has always been one of my favorites. I’ve always thought it allowed him to show off his range. It’s really cool to see how the song writer arranged the song. Thanks for the upload!

Ray is a great singer songwriter.
For me, it was his lyrics, his voice , and his piano playing. His style of hitting the keys was so enthusiastic! The images in his songs were so romantic! And that voice was so gravely! I loved Ray Griff like these kids love Justin Bieber. I laugh at the young girls now, but I was just as big of a Ray Griff fan as any Belieber is of Ole Justin!!! I was thinking about Ray Griff today and that is when I found out he passed on March 9th. RIP Ray!

I was just at a lady's funeral today ,that use to work for Rays mother at Winfield ab. Rays family was mentioned at the event. alot of folks from winfield aren't aware Ray has passed away. we still listen to his songs and I have old records of his

I had the great privilege of seeing Ray perform Darlin' live in Marietta, Georgia, USA, I believe in the late 1970's or very early '80s. It was a show sponsored by the local country music radio station and included several greats from that era. I was front row and remember vividly the sincerity on his face as he sang "I'm getting weak from being strong...". I thought this was as great a line as I'd ever heard written. I'm glad that George Jones honored him by recognizing the value of this song, but I greatly prefer Ray's version, and I'm a big Jones fan.

I love Ray's version (THE version, in my opinion) of The Mornin' After Baby Let Me Down" but "Darlin" is equally as beautiful. I do not understand why this man never got more recognition than he did.

Ray's version is equally as good as George's and he remains one of those very talented singer-songwriters who somehow have been unjustly overlooked and yet their recorded and songwriting work remains of a superlative quality
