"When it came for a cd reissue, it was completely remixed so as to efface any sign of Bryne's involvement, and it is this sanitized version which is today most readily available. But back in 1982, by some fortuitous accident, initial copies of the ep were released on the Island Record label in the UK and parts of Europe that included Byrne's longer, dubbier, and altogether more interesting mixes of several tracks, offering a brief glimpse of what The B-52's' third album might well have sounded like had Bryne been allowed to complete the project."

I did few things right but I fortunately purchased this vinyl EP.
So did I. Brilliant.
Not the Byrne mix, this version was included in vynil EP sold in Italy. My favorite version.
That talking head put his foot in this one. love it.
I bought this EP in '83 Spain. Half way in the back cover it sports "Produced by David Byrne". It still sounds perfect.
Best version is this, I'm afraid (sorry, 52's). Bass, horns and percussion prevail over guitars and synths.
It's a dark and wonderful record, only second to the first two masterpiece LPs.

The UK version of Mesopotamia is the better version out all of them. Shame it was never realeased on CD. I still have it in vinyl.
Stephen Stanley produced the better version for sure.
Wrong video title. David Byrne did not mix this. He produced the ep. This was released because the master tapes were switched at the label. so this ended up being the UK release.

well I think I like the longer mixes, for being a 6 song album that the image was transformed into a more dramatic style and I love the messipatamia "queen of Las Vegas " from the messipatamia outtakes better than the whammy both of them were different than the other

This is the Italian ep mix best version not the original long version not sure majority of people to know what I have here is the 3rd different mix from the initial release in initial UK pressing on the Italian ep it is exclusive to the single version release wrong title

Wrong Scott s this is actually the original version of Loveland. The American version that's around 5 minutes long is actually the second version produced by the b-52's and not David Byrne
Prefer the US version
Not David Byrne. If it was, it would be about 10-20 bpm too slow and have an annoying Brazilian vocal group behind it.

But "Mesopotamia" was (at least partly) produced by David Byrne. He did so while also recording his very first solo effort, "The Catherine Wheel"
