I remember when the B52s appeared on Saturday Night Live. I was delivering pizzas at Miami University, to a girls dorm. While I waiting for the girl to come down for her Pizza I was watching the B52s perform Rock Lobster on the TV in the lounge. There were some girls there, they looked like sorority girls, and when the song reached the part where the band dropped to the floor and started flopping around, these girls all went "Ewwww!" It's one of my fondest memories.
This played at just about every college party back in the day. One party I was at--the floor was so packed with people dancing to this song, you could feel the floor bouncing.
First time I heard this was getting drunk outside a big college party up the street as 15 year teenage guys wonder what is this music ? and then yeah - 4 years later at a Case Western frat house in Cleveland was just that - house pounding smashed drunk wild fun - girls and guys just pounding up and down at the end and the whole house shaking everybody rockin !

@@666Havers What if they are?
I loved all the songs of this strange and very original band, I had all their albums!!!
I remember when the B52s appeared on Saturday Night Live. I was delivering pizzas at Miami University, to a girls dorm. While I waiting for the girl to come down for her Pizza I was watching the B52s perform Rock Lobster on the TV in the lounge. There were some girls there, they looked like sorority girls, and when the song reached the part where the band dropped to the floor and started flopping around, these girls all went "Ewwww!" It's one of my fondest memories.
did you score?
mac163 - he was delivering pizza!
you should have fucked them to establish dominance
@@phockuahole be carefull zee vimmen seek our essence
@@mac163 he delivered the sausage.
Fred and the girls get most of the attention but it's Ricky's guitar playing that really drives this song.
This band can make me smile like no other
Fred's dance moves ride that fine line between captivating and hilarious.
Pure unbridled fun and idiocy.
What a positive message they were sending out.
Gotta love the B-52's.
STILL one of my top 5 albums of all time…
I will love those ladies forever. I am so happy I got to see them live
Would love to karaoke this song with someone, go nuts and watch people leave with embarrassed for us
an idea for NY 2017, thnx
Hahahahahaha!
I got to do it by myself with just the guy's lyrics. Didn't go over so well.
"Watch out for that piranha....yi yi yi yi yow!" LOL
I would jump into the stage and sing with the two of you, definetely.
Such a cool band, the 80's were the most creative time in Music, it sure was fun too.
Are you proud of me?
It was the drugs
@@TheLostAge Oh for sure! Pot, Ecstasy, and Coke.
Everything about this is perfection, especially that guitar.
Completely insane, rocking, performance. Just awesome.
What a classic! I was in a crappy mood but the b-52’s always get me boppin and smiling! Great memories! ❤
Ludicrously daft and brilliant in equal measures!! You simply can not escape the groove !!
Brings back my freshman in college days in 1980. College radio stations were the go to for new music & breaking new bands like The B-52's, Talking Heads, R.E.M., XTC, etc.
marck Ismael seguro escuchas nirvana
We were at a party
His earlobe fell in the deep
Someone reached in and grabbed it
It was a rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
We were at the beach
Everybody had matching towels
Somebody went under a dock
And there they saw a rock
It wasn't a rock
It was a rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Motion in the ocean
His air hose broke
Lots of trouble
Lots of bubble
He was in a jam
S'in a giant clam
Rock rock
Rock lobster
Down, down
Lobster rock
Lobster rock
Let's rock!
Boy's in bikinis
Girls in surfboards
Everybody's rockin'
Everybody's fruggin'
Twistin' 'round the fire
Havin' fun
Bakin' potatoes
Bakin' in the sun
Put on your noseguard
Put on the Lifeguard
Pass the tanning butter
Here comes a stingray
There goes a manta-ray
In walked a jelly fish
There goes a dog-fish
Chased by a cat-fish
In flew a sea robin
Watch out for that piranha
There goes a narwhal
Here comes a bikini whale!
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Thanks for the lyrics.. cool..
You're my hero
You don't ever want to meet up with a bikini whale! Oh the humanity!
I remember when this song played at a dance party in Catholic School in the 6th grade; dropping to the floor around 2:30 and all of us jumping up around 2:50. Good times 😀
Simply magical and likely the best dance music band ever.
I've always loved Cindy's dancing but she excelled herself in this one!
I’s Cindy the one in blue
@@dfollery3230 Yep, that's her...the unforgettable Cindy Wilson
And Fred, always seems like someone's father who replaced the singer last second because they were out sick.
I could watch them all dance for hours! They had so much fun flailing everywhere!
@@HipixOFFICIAL that's just what I thought when I saw Fred
pure genius, the man that thought of this song. and had the balls to go on tv with it
