My grandmother use to say "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". She was a very, very wise, tactful and amazing mother of 5 boys in the great depression. Wendy - you are lovely, personable, educated, spiritual and a great inspiration to us who admire all your awesome qualities. LJ in New Mexico, USA

I could literally sit and just listen to you chat while I'm working on something, which I just did! I would love to see what you crochet. I'm currently working on a boho shawl that makes me think of Stevie Nicks. I'm almost finished with this one, which I've done in a peacock color DK weight yarn and as soon as this one is finished I have another color in mind for the next one. :) My grandma taught me to crochet when I was around 7 and I still do it just about every day.

I love Stevie Nick's. I am crocheting another blanket for my father who is in his last days of his life. He is 97 and is comforted by the light weight and bright colours of his blanket.

Rhonda, I, too, love Stevie Nicks and her boho/gypsy look, as well as her music. Your hair is beautiful! I have those mermaid blue, teal, and green colors showing through and on the ends of my hair. The rest of it is a medium brown/auburn color. I knit, which my grandma taught me when I was about seven. She taught me to crochet, too, but I can't figure out what loop to put the hook into. LOL

Thank you for inspiring me to make an art junk journal! And one for my friend. I never really understood what to do with them, until i watched you creating yours. I like your idea of having several journals, for different purposes, or needs. That could be what held me back, i was overwhelmed trying to figure out how to encompass everything in one journal. Your method isn’t intimidating, it is freeing.
For example, I didn’t like my first attempt, so i cheekily glued in a cover up. A pencil drawing of my son, that i tore out of an old sketch book, I had made when i was a young woman. Then i trimmed it with a bit of ribbon…viola! I love it, and i had forgotten about that old sketch i had tucked away. It brought back such happy memories. From there i felt encouraged and went on to create a small oil pastel of a prairie storm. Not a complete flop…it is a keeper! To protect it from smearing i tucked it in to one of those thin plastic page covers. I cut it down to size, and sewed it shut. I made a little tuck spot for it. Done and done. I can’t wait till morning to work on another page. It is fun having permission to correct, tear, glue, rummage, add, subtract and just freely create, to please myself. Your light shone brightly on me Wendy, to half way around the world, all the way to our cold and snowy Canadian prairies. You have cheered up a dark winter.

I'm a collage artist and art journaling is a form of collage to me...I love it and the cramming lol....it is a matter of expression and taste....art through the ages is often misunderstood and provokes all kinds of reactions and emotions. so well done!

What a fun video! It was great to hear all the kinds of questions you get and I’m sure this was just scratching the surface! I think this is one of the ways that an artist can see how successful they’ve become: when they’re inundated with questions! In every video you do, Wendy, I see how you help people grow and develop not only as artists but also personally. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into your channel!

We all have choices, personally I watch what inspires and gets my creative juices going! I don’t waste time watching otherwise! I watch you with my cup of tea, feeling comforted by being part of something I love and people I admire! Blessed and safe days!

Thank you for all your helpful info - you never fail to help me in some way and make me smile. I will share with you that you have really helped me to expand my creative expression and discover that multiple journals are better than just one. I’ve always wanted to keep a diary but was such a perfectionist that I could never get past the first few pages because I didn’t like my handwriting or would make something look messy, or would want to change the style of it. Now I know I can embrace all of that craziness by having multiple avenues for expression. I currently have 4 completely different journal books going and just jump between them as my energy and creativity changes from day to day. Thank you for giving me the idea, the permission, the freedom to explore! I cannot thank you enough dear Wendy!

Hi Wendy, ive covid since just after Xmas, and so I’ve had plenty of time to start watching new people, and you are one of these new people for me, and I’m so glad of it! One evening I just sat in bed snuggled up with my 13 year old and our cat and we just watched your videos, thank you for keeping me company through the Illness! My daughter saw your work and said oh mummy this is very you you should paint like that, I said that I’m so glad I started watching Wendy because I now know what sort of things I want to be painting, not what I think I should be painting. I’ve always loved fairies, mermaids, fantasy, mystical forests, magical mushrooms, goddesses, plus flowers plants and butterflies, all that sort of thing and now I know that’s where my journey will take me, and I’m so thankful to you for helping me realise that and for your positivity and encouragement. Lots of love 💕 😊🦋

My new year always is a little brighter by watching your videos. I used the last half of 2021 to binge watch you and now in the new year I watch to inspire me to think about painting. I havent learned to journal yet but I want to, and in my head I make a start in a journal. However, what I take away the most is I feel warm and comforted like a big hug. I dont know why as you are talking about all things art like. But I guess it because you encourage us all to learn to slow down and enjoy everything we do. To me that is a big motherly hug.
I cant wait to see what 22 has in store for us and I also don't wanna know. But I'll be here every week soaking in my dose of inspiration and looking towards the future

This was a really lovely video! I love the comments about banyan trees. They fascinate me. When I was a child my sister and I use to play in a big willow tree that had several trunks growing up from the ground. The inside of it was our playhouse and the scene of many imagined adventures! We had to wade through a small marsh to get to it, and couldn't see our house from there, although it was only about 100 yards away! Now, 60 years later, the place is a city park and kids rarely play there any more.

Wendy I had to share this with you. You and I come from different beliefs. I'm a Christian but, one thing that I just love about you is, when one of your commentators does post something rudely, you are honest, but your response is so polite and calm. I'm sure there are some that really challenge your calmness, but with the above Q n A, you handled yourself beautifully with the snarky comments. Well done, Wendy. It doesn't matter who we all are, where we come from, nor what we believe, kindness and respect are so needed today. Have a beautiful night and may God bless you with a beautiful new day tomorrow. ❤️😊

I think the provocateur may have missed the point of an art journal being personal. Not usually for public consumption as other works of art are, except as examples of how to do them for yourself. My junk(art) journal pages evoke feelings in me. That's the point... my feelings, for me. You handled that with more Grace than I would have Wendy lol.

You are keeping me sane and inspiring me so much right now! I am on patreon. I've been wanting to make the art journal from your video and started altering a hardback book, but then I decided hardback isn't for me (it doesn't feel "friendly", which is the key thing for me!) and wanted to do a softback like yours. But all sorts of obstacles came up (I don't have a big stash of materials) so it's an extremely slow process!!! I can't begin to convey how grateful I feel for what you are sharing with us. Watching your video's make me feel like I'm sitting down with a friend, doing art together (I mainly put on your videos while art journaling myself!). You've given me the inspiration to really play, just start, and see where it goes. A tip for the perfectionists that are afraid of 'messing up' in a journal: Use loose pages and put them in a binder. If a piece is giving you negative feelings, just leave it out. It may give you the push in the back you need to start!

Really it was a bunch of sour grape statements from some poor woman who probably never journals. The words you chose to describe yourself are similar to the ones I would choose for myself..quirky is fun. I usually say eccentric about myself and boho. Someone dear to said "you are a terminal hippie" That made me laugh . I dont make goals either and rather kind of follow myself in the moments. Loved the question about the motivation and how you keep yourself motivated when you don't feel like it! I then do a bit less than usual but still do something. I tell myself, yes, you are tired today and not in mood for anything so do what you can then stop...funny enough, I almost end up doing more in those days than in the days when I feel more motivated! Maybe because I don't put pressure on myself and allow myself to flow at a natural pace! Great video today!! xx

awesome Q n A Wendy oh and Happy New Year. I have had a relatively recent house move which has been super stressful and an emotional rollercoaster, it didn't help that it has taken me at least 2 mths to set up a new studio and that it's in a dull garage with no natural light. However I am going to do my best to look on the positive side, be grateful for all of my wonderful new art supplies added to all the previous so now I am well stocked for most of 2022. I am looking forward to releasing what doesn't serve me and express my journey through my art and I KNOW that watching your channel will be just the medicine my messed up self needs, so ahead of time Thankyou and wishing you all the best xx

Absolutely astonishing that you only wash your hair once or twice a year! It’s in such fantastic condition! Many of us, including myself, spend a small fortune to try and achieve what you do naturally. Think more of us should take a page out of your book Wendy… though I’m not quite sure if I’m brave enough! 🤣 I was, however, brave enough to embrace my natural grey hair a few years ago, and I love it! No more chemicals from dyes and saved a whole heap of money!
I love your vlogs…And i so look forward to them every Friday! 😊🌻💙

as you use less shampoo, less often, your body makes less and less oil, a good rinse is all you need once the oil stops coming in.

Thank you for sharing this. It was interesting to hear your thoughts. I think in terms of art journaling it’s individual expression so as long as that’s the intention is there really right or wrong and does it have to resonate with someone else? It may look messy or crammed to someone else but to you it has certain meaning and is your expression. I’ve learned that there is no wrong with art, it’s just personal expression. Love your videos Wendy. You’ve taught me so much. Thank you. Keep shining bright 💜

Your least favourite colour is purple.....I don't think we can be friends anymore Wendy 😆💜 Great q and a. I tend to agree with the person who said a lot of the journalling is crammed, but then it's a personal choice and you don't have cram your pages with things, just use certain elements and leave space. I've certainly watched a few people who don't cram as much into their journals as some people.
